   (3) Carefully remove the cover (6).
Subtask 52-22-00-860-101-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Preparation for the Test
   (1) Make sure that the overwing emergency door (1) is correctly closed and the release lever (21) is in front of the lever (20) (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-410-802).
   (2) Install the lock-pin assembly in the operating head of the inflation reservoir (7) to prevent accidental operation of the inflation reservoir (7) (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-00-481-001).
   (3) Remove the inflation reservoir assembly from the flexible control assembly as follows:
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
CAUTION: DO NOT PUSH THE END OF THE WIRE INTO THE WIRE-CONTROL ASSEMBLY. THIS CAN CAUSE A KINK IN THE WIRE.
     (a) Remove and discard the lockwire from the knurled sleeve nut (18).
     (b) Loosen the knurled sleeve nut (18).
     (c) Remove the two collets (10) from the flexible control assembly.
     (d) Disconnect the inflation cable (13) from the release cable (11).
   (4) Install the TLW101 TEST TOOL-RELEASE CABLE,ESCAPE SLIDE on the flexible control assembly as follows:
CAUTION: DO NOT PUT WEIGHT ON THE FWD PULLEY WHEN YOU CONNECT THE WIRE- CONTROL ASSEMBLY TO THE FLEXIBLE CONTROL-ASSEMBLY. WEIGHT ON THE PULLEY CAUSES TENSION IN THE WIRE, WHICH CAN CAUSE THE END OF THE WIRE TO BREAK.
     (a) Remove the cover cap (9) from the TLW101 TEST TOOL-RELEASE CABLE,ESCAPE SLIDE.
     (b) Engage the adapter (12) with the release cable (11).
     (c) Put the collets (10) in position around the joint.
     (d) Turn the knurled sleeve nut (14) to safety the connection between the TLW101 TEST TOOL-RELEASE CABLE,ESCAPE SLIDE and the flexible control assembly.
     (e) Make sure that the pointer of the TLW101 TEST TOOL-RELEASE CABLE,ESCAPE SLIDE touches the stop (17) of the housing (15).
     (f) Measure the initial position of the pointer at the housing scale (16).
NOTE: The pointer does not accurately stay at zero because of the weight of the TLW101 TEST TOOL-RELEASE CABLE,ESCAPE SLIDE.
4. Procedure
Subtask 52-22-00-720-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Functional Check of the Manual and Automatic Slide Release Signal
   (1) Do this test to examine:
  • The automatic operation of the slide release mechanism when you open and close the overwing emergency-exit door (1)
  • The manual operation of the slide release mechanism
  • The operation of the overwing emergency-exit-door locking-mechanism from the inner and the outer side.
ACTION
RESULT
1.In the center of the cabin:
In the center of the cabin:
  • Remove the handle cover (3) from the overwing emergency-exit door (1).
  • The white SLIDE ARMED indicator light (2) comes on.
  • Pull the inboard handle assembly down to rotate it to an angle of 10 degrees.
  • The vent flap assembly rotates to an angle of 30 degrees.
  • Continue to pull the inboard handle assembly down to rotate it to an angle of 35 degrees.
  • The lifting system automatically opens the overwing emergency-exit door (1) until the actuators get to their internal stop.
  • The flexible control assembly of the slide release mechanism transmits this movement (as the automatic slide release signal) to the inflation reservoir.
  • The white SLIDE ARMED indicator light (2) goes off.
  • The end of the release cable (11) retracts and operates the spring-loaded of the TLW101 TEST TOOL-RELEASE CABLE,ESCAPE SLIDE.
  • Measure the travel of the release cable (11) with the TLW101 TEST TOOL-RELEASE CABLE,ESCAPE SLIDE.
  • The pointer of the TLW101 TEST TOOL-RELEASE CABLE,ESCAPE SLIDE must stay in the green area of the scale (16).
  • The travel value must be a minimum of 50.0 mm (1.97 in.).
  • Remove the red pull handle of the slide release mechanism from its stowage position and pull it down (manual operation of the offwing escape slide).
  • The end of the release cable (11) retracts and operates the spring-loaded of the TLW101 TEST TOOL-RELEASE CABLE,ESCAPE SLIDE.
  • Release the red pull handle and put it back in its stowage position.
  • The release lever (21) automatically moves to its normal position.
2.On the overwing emergency-exit-door structure:
On the overwing emergency-exit-door structure:
  • On overwing emergency-exit door 833 ( 844), pull the shaft a small distance to the right.
  • On overwing emergency-exit door 833 ( 844), the shaft moves to the right.
  • On overwing emergency-exit door 834 ( 843), pull the shaft a small distance to the left.
  • On overwing emergency-exit door 834 ( 843), the shaft moves to the left.
  • Push the unlock lever to turn the shaft clockwise.

  • Turn the shaft clockwise until the unlock lever is behind the disarm bracket.
  • The slide release system is in the DISARMED position.
3.In the center of the cabin:
In the center of the cabin:

  • On overwing emergency-exit door 833 ( 844), pull the shaft a small distance to the right.
  • On overwing emergency-exit door 834 ( 843), pull the shaft a small distance to the left.
  • The unlock lever disengages from the disarm bracket.
  • Push the unlock lever to turn the shaft counterclockwise.
  • The unlock lever engages.
  • On overwing emergency-exit door 833 ( 844), push the shaft to the left.
  • On overwing emergency-exit door 834 ( 843), push the shaft to the right.
  • The slide release system is in the ARMED position.
  • The white SLIDE ARMED indicator light (2) comes on.
  • Install the handle cover (3) on the overwing emergency-exit door (1).
  • The white SLIDE ARMED indicator light (2) goes off.
   (2) Do the lubrication procedure of the flexible control assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-00-640-001) if:
  • The pointer of the TLW101 TEST TOOL-RELEASE CABLE,ESCAPE SLIDE does not stay in the green area of the scale (16)
    or
  • The travel value is not a minimum of 50.0 mm (1.97 in.).
