- OPERATIONAL CHECK OF UNLOCKING AND OPENING FROM INSIDE AND OUTSIDE IN DISARMED POSITION
- OPERATIONAL CHECK OF CLOSING AND LOCKING FROM INSIDE
- OPERATIONAL CHECK OF ESCAPE SLIDE ARMING AND DISARMING.
NOTE: The effectivity of this task is "ALL". To know if this task is applicable to your aircraft, refer to the MPD task applicability. The information on weight variant groups is given in the MPD and SRM introductions.
NOTE: This task is not applicable to the deactivated emergency exits.
To make sure that the removal of each emergency exit hatch (referred to as "the hatch") with retracted latch pin (disarmed mode) is possible.

Installation of the Emergency Exit Hatch
3. Job Set-up
Subtask 52-21-00-860-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the hatch is correctly closed and locked (Ref. AMM TASK 52-21-11-400-001).
   (2) Install the lockpin assembly in the operating head of the inflation reservoirs of the aft cargo compartment to prevent an accidental escape slide operation (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-00-481-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 52-21-00-710-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Operational Test
   (1) Do a check of the passenger-door flexible arm/disarm control-cable.
     (a) Make sure that the passenger-door flexible arm/disarm control-cable is in a serviceable condition.
   (2) Do the test that follows to examine the operation of the hatch locking mechanism from the inner and outer side.
   (3) Do the test that follows to examine the operation of the latch pin from the armed to the disarmed mode.
ACTION
RESULT
1.In the center of the cabin:
In the center of the cabin:
  • Pull down and remove the cover flap from the hatch.
  • The white SLIDE ARMED indicator-light comes on.
2.On the hatch structure:
On the hatch structure:
  • Push the latch pin against the spring and turn its head a quarter turn counterclockwise.
  • The latch pin retracts to the DISARMED position.

    In the center of the cabin:
  • The retracted latch pin does not operate the adjacent pin of the proximity switch.
  • The white SLIDE ARMED indicator-light goes off.
3.In the center of the cabin:

  • Pull the pull-lever of the hatch control handle down and hold the hatch in position.
  • The hooks of the locking mechanism disengage from the upper roller fittings.
  • The linkage of the hatch control handle locks the pull lever in this lowered position.
  • Carefully lower the top of the hatch into the cabin and remove the hatch.
  • The opening of the emergency exit is free.
  • Put the hatch correctly in open position and lift the pull lever in its overcenter position.
  • The opening of the emergency exit is closed and the hatch is correctly locked.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN THE HATCH COMES FREE OF THE CABIN LINING. THE MOVEMENT OF THE RELEASE MECHANISM CAN CAUSE YOU INJURY.
4.On the wing, push the flush panel:
In the center of the cabin:
  • Push the flush panel of the hatch control handle inboard.
  • The pull-handle of the hatch control handle moves down and operates the hooks of the locking mechanism.

  • The hatch comes inboard and its retracted latch pin does not operate the release lever of the slide release mechanism.
5.In the center of the cabin:
In the center of the cabin:
  • Put the hatch correctly in open position and lift the pull lever in its overcenter position.
  • The opening of the emergency exit is closed and the hatch is correctly locked.
  • Push the latch pin against the spring and turn its head a quarter turn clockwise.
  • The latch pin extends in its ARMED position and operates the pin of the related proximity switch.
  • The white SLIDE ARMED indicator-light comes on.
  • Install the cover flap on the hatch lining and push it against the hatch.
  • The white SLIDE ARMED indicator-light goes off.
  • Examine the position of the hatch seal.
  • Make sure that the position of the hatch seal is correct.
5. Close-up

A. Put the aircraft back to the serviceable condition.
   (1) Remove the lockpin assemblies from the inflation reservoirs (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-00-081-001).
   (2) Make sure that the hatch is correctly closed and locked (Ref. AMM TASK 52-21-11-400-001).
