DETAILED INSPECTION OF OVERWING EMERGENCY EXIT HATCHES, INTERNAL STRUCTURE AND LOAD TRANSMITTING PROFILE, LH/RH.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 52-21-00-010-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Get Access
   (1) Remove the emergency exit hatch (Ref. AMM TASK 52-21-11-000-001).
   (2) Remove the hatch lining from the emergency exit hatch (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-47-000-001).
   (3) Carefully remove the Velcro strips and the insulation packs from the emergency exit hatch.
Subtask 52-21-00-010-054-CJ ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Get Access
   (1) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever.
   (2) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) on the flap/slat control lever to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
   (3) Obey the special precautions before you start work on the door (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-00-481-001).
   (4) Remove the door lining (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-47-000-803).
   (5) Remove the insulation blankets (Ref. AMM TASK 25-80-00-000-001).
WARNING: YOU MUST PUT ON AND ATTACH A SAFETY HARNESS BEFORE YOU START WORK:
  • ON THE THS OR IN THE REAR FUSELAGE
  • ON TOP OF THE WINGS OR PYLONS.
WITHOUT A SAFETY HARNESS, YOU CAN FALL. THIS CAN KILL YOU OR CAUSE YOU INJURY.
   (6) Put on a safety harness:
     (a) Put on and attach the HARNESS, SAFETY before you start work in the work area.
   (7) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 6M (20 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position, below the applicable overwing emergency-exit door.
   (8) Open the applicable overwing emergency-exit door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-010-802).
4. Procedure
Subtask 52-21-00-615-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation of the Inspection Area
   (1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do a satisfactory inspection of the area.
   (2) If not, clean the inspection area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (3) If there is a TPS layer and if it does not let you do a satisfactory inspection, remove the TPS layer (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
Subtask 52-21-00-220-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Detailed Inspection of the Emergency Exit Hatches, Internal Structure and Left and Right Load-Transmitting Profiles
F Internal Structure of the Hatch ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Examine the subsequent components of the hatch structure for corrosion, scratches, cracks and dents:
  • The inner framing (edge beams and edge curves)
  • The beam framing (horizontal beams, vertical frame segments and window frame)
  • The left and right load-transmitting profiles.
NOTE: Dents are not permitted on these components.
   (2) If you find damage, do the steps that follow:
     (a) Find the limits of the damage SRM 522000.
     (b) Repair the scratches and the cracks (Ref. AMM TASK 51-73-11-300-002).
     (c) Repair the corrosion (Ref. AMM TASK 51-74-11-300-001).
   (3) Do a general inspection of the emergency exit hatches:
     (a) Examine the drain holes at the bottom of the hatch structure to make sure that they are not blocked.
     (b) Examine all the rivets of the hatch structure.
  • If you find an empty rivet hole, install the rivet with the correct sealant.
  • If you find damaged or loose rivets, replace them.
     (c) Examine the sealant on all the components of the structure for correct condition. If necessary, use the SCRAPER - WOODEN or the SCRAPER - PLASTIC to remove the sealant and apply new sealant.
     (d) Make sure that all the attachment screws and the bolts of the hatch structure are correctly tightened.
     (e) Make sure that the paint is in the correct condition (Ref. AMM TASK 51-75-12-300-001).
Subtask 52-21-00-220-050-CJ ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Detailed Inspection of the Left and Right Overwing Emergency-Exit-Doors, Internal Structure and Load-Transmitting Profiles
   (1) Examine the subsequent components of the overwing emergency-exit door-structure for corrosion, scratches, cracks and dents:
  • The piano hinges
  • The beam framing (beams 1 to 5, the vent flap and the window frame)
  • The load-transmitting profiles
  • The latch roller.
NOTE: Dents are not permitted on these components.
   (2) If you find damage, continue with the steps that follow:
     (a) Find the limits of the damage SRM 522000.
     (b) Repair the scratches and the cracks (Ref. AMM TASK 51-73-11-300-002).
     (c) Repair the corrosion (Ref. AMM TASK 51-74-11-300-001).
   (3) Do a general inspection of the overwing emergency-exit door:
     (a) Examine the drain holes at the bottom of the overwing emergency-exit door-structure to make sure that they are not blocked.
     (b) Examine all rivets of the overwing emergency-exit door-structure:
  • If you find an empty rivet hole, install the rivet with the correct sealant.
  • If you find damaged or loose rivets, replace them.
     (c) Examine the sealant of all structure components for the correct condition. If necessary, use the SCRAPER - WOODEN or the SCRAPER - PLASTIC to remove the sealant and apply new sealant.
     (d) Make sure that all attachment screws and bolts of the overwing emergency-exit door-structure are correctly tightened.
     (e) Make sure that the paint is in the correct condition (Ref. AMM TASK 51-75-12-300-001).
Subtask 52-21-00-916-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Check and Application of the TPS Layer
   (1) Apply Adhesive Film Tape-Masking - - (Material No.05RDA1) on the items adjacent to these areas: the seals, bellows, door mechanisms, proximity switches, fittings, window panes and wirings.
   (2) If the TPS was removed at the ”Preparation of the Inspection Area”, apply a new layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound_Water Displacing Soft Film - (Material No.12ABC1) or Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Hard Film - (Material No.12ABB1) (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
   (3) If the TPS was not removed at the ”Preparation of the Inspection Area”, do a check of the condition and integrity of the TPS layer (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
   (4) If the TPS layer has local damage, remove the damaged TPS layer and apply a new layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound_Water Displacing Soft Film - (Material No.12ABC1) or Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Hard Film - (Material No.12ABB1) (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
5. Close-up
Subtask 52-21-00-410-056-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install the insulation packs and attach them with the Velcro strips.
   (3) Install the hatch lining on the emergency exit hatch (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-47-400-001) .
   (4) Install the emergency exit hatch (Ref. AMM TASK 52-21-11-400-001).
Subtask 52-21-00-410-056-CJ ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
   (1) Close the applicable overwing emergency-exit door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-410-802).
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Install the insulation blankets (Ref. AMM TASK 25-80-00-400-001).
   (4) Install the door lining (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-47-400-803).
   (5) Obey the special precautions after you work on the door (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-00-081-001).
   (6) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (7) Remove the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS from the flap/slat control lever.
   (8) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
