Temporary Repair of the Extruded Rubber Seal of the Aft Passenger/Crew Door
WARNING:
DO NOT OPEN OR GO NEAR PRESSURE-SEALED DOORS WHEN THE AIRCRAFT IS PRESSURIZED.
A PRESSURE-SEALED DOOR THAT OPENS WHEN THE AIRCRAFT IS PRESSURIZED:
- WILL CAUSE EXPLOSIVE DECOMPRESSION.
- CAN KILL OR CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT OR EQUIPMENT.
WARNING:
DO NOT OPEN THE PASSENGER/CREW DOOR IF THE WIND SPEED IS MORE THAN 65 KNOTS.
WARNING:
BEFORE YOU START WORK ON THE DOOR, MAKE SURE THAT:
- THE EMERGENCY CONTROL HANDLE IS IN THE DISARMED POSITION WITH THE SAFETY PIN INSTALLED.
- THE PERCUSSION LEVER OF THE DOOR-DAMPER AND EMERGENCY-OPERATION CYLINDER IS IN THE DISARMED POSITION WITH THE SAFETY PIN INSTALLED.
WARNING:
STOP THE OPENING PROCEDURE IF THE RED WARNING LIGHT FLASHES. IF THE RED WARNING LIGHT FLASHES, REMAINING PRESSURE CAN CAUSE THE DOOR TO OPEN SUDDENLY AND CAN:
- KILL OR CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY TO PERSONS
- CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

A. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position at zone 832 or 842.
(2) Obey the special precautions before you start the work on the passenger/crew door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-860-001).

A. Temporary Repair of the Extruded Rubber Seal
(2) If necessary, clean the area where the extruded rubber seal (1) is damaged with the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(3) Apply two layers of Adhesive Film Tape-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.05RAB9) on the area where the extruded rubber seal (1) is damaged to correctly hold the damaged area:
(a) Apply the first layer diagonally across the area where the extruded rubber seal (1) is damaged.
(b) Apply the second layer diagonally opposite to the first layer.
(c) Make sure that there is an overlap of each tape strip.
(4) Do an operational check of the applicable passenger/crew door to make sure that it continues to open and close correctly.
(5) Do a visual inspection of the Adhesive Film Tape-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.05RAB9) around the area where the extruded rubber seal (1) is damaged at intervals of 10 flight cycles:
(a) If the Adhesive Film Tape-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.05RAB9) is not in the correct condition, do the steps that follow:
1 Remove the damaged Adhesive Film Tape-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.05RAB9) .
2 Remove the remaining Adhesive Film Tape-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.05RAB9) with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC and the BRUSH - BRISTLED, STIFF.
3 Clean the area where the extruded rubber seal (1) is damaged with the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
4 Apply two layers of Adhesive Film Tape-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.05RAB9) on the area where the extruded rubber seal (1) is damaged to correctly hold the damaged area:
(6) Make an entry in the logbook to replace the rubber seal in 50 flight cycles or less.
(7) Replace the extruded rubber seal (1) in 50 flight cycles or less (Ref. AMM TASK 52-13-18-960-801).
5. Close-upNOTE: This temporary repair has a limit of 50 flight cycles.
(1) Do a visual inspection of the extruded rubber seal (1) for damage. Make sure that the extruded rubber seal (1) is not disengaged.(2) If necessary, clean the area where the extruded rubber seal (1) is damaged with the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(3) Apply two layers of Adhesive Film Tape-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.05RAB9) on the area where the extruded rubber seal (1) is damaged to correctly hold the damaged area:
(a) Apply the first layer diagonally across the area where the extruded rubber seal (1) is damaged.
(b) Apply the second layer diagonally opposite to the first layer.
(c) Make sure that there is an overlap of each tape strip.
