A. Adjustment of the Length of the Damper and Emergency-Operation Cylinder
Door-Damper and Emergency-Operation Cylinder ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
Door-Damper and Emergency-Operation Cylinder ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
(1) Manually put the door damper and emergency-operation cylinder in the fully compressed position.
(2) Make sure that the protrusion length J2 of the piston rod:
(a) for the damper series P/N FE174 and FE196 is 16.8 -1.8 mm or +1.8 mm (0.6614 -0.0709 in. or +0.0709 in.).
(b) for the damper series P/N FE240 is 21.8 -1.8 mm or +1.8 mm (0.8583 -0.0709 in. or +0.0709 in.).
(3) If the protrusion length J2 is not in the tolerances, send the damper and emergency-operation cylinder to the manufacturer for overhaul.
(4) In this configuration, adjust the length J3 with the 98D52103003000 ADJUSTING-CYLINDER LENGTH:
(a) Remove the lockwire from the nut (20).
(b) Loosen the nut (20).
(c) Adjust the cylinder (19) to get the length J3.
1 for the damper and emergency-operation cylinder series P/N FE174 and FE196 358 mm (14.0945 in.).
2 for the damper and emergency-operation cylinder series P/N FE240 363 +0.0 mm or -2.0 mm (14.2913 +0.0000 in. or -0.0787 in.).
(d) Tighten the nut (20) and safety with14QFB1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -

(9) TORQUE the nut (2) to between 0.7 and 0.35 m.daN (61.95 and 30.97 lbf.in ) , and the nut (17) to between 1.7 and 1 m.daN (150.44 and 88.50 lbf.in ) . (10) Install the AIPC 52-13-04-01-010 COTTER PIN (1), and the AIPC 52-13-04-01-100 COTTER PIN (18).

(1) Put the yoke (6) in position and install the yoke pin (5) in the cylinder end fitting.
(2) Install the two circlips (4) at the two ends of the yoke pin (5).
(3) Put the cylinder end fitting on the support arm and hold it.
(4) Install the bush (7).
(5) Install the washer (8) and the bolt (9).
(6) Install the washer (3) and the nut (2). Do not tighten the nut (2).
(7) Install the bushes (23) and (24) on the fork (11).
(8) Install the washer (13), the bushes (15), the end of the door-damper and emergency-operation cylinder (10), the washer (16), the fork (11), the bolt (12) and the nut (17).

(10) Install the AIPC 52-13-04-01-010 COTTER PIN (1) or AIPC 52-13-84-05-010 COTTER PIN (1), and the AIPC 52-13-04-01-100 COTTER PIN (18) or AIPC 52-13-84-05-100 COTTER PIN (18).
(11) Connect the connector (22) to the receptacle housing (21).

(9) TORQUE the nut (2) to between 0.7 and 0.35 m.daN (61.95 and 30.97 lbf.in ) , and the nut (17) to between 1.7 and 1 m.daN (150.44 and 88.50 lbf.in ) . (10) Install the AIPC 52-13-04-01-010 COTTER PIN (1) or AIPC 52-13-84-05-010 COTTER PIN (1), and the AIPC 52-13-04-01-100 COTTER PIN (18) or AIPC 52-13-84-05-100 COTTER PIN (18).
(11) Connect the connector (22) to the receptacle housing (21).
E. BITE Test
(1) Do a BITE test of the Cabin Intercommunication Data System (CIDS) (Ref. AMM TASK 23-73-00-740-005).

(1) When you lock/unlock the door, make sure that the clearance J4 between the telescopic rod and the door attach fitting (23) is 1.5 mm (0.0591 in.) minimum.

D. Close Access
(1) Arm the percussion mechanism of the door damper and emergency operation cylinder. To do this, obey the special precautions after the work on the door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-860-002).
(2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(3) Close the passenger/crew door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-410-001), 832 842.
(4) Remove the access platform(s).
(1) Arm the percussion mechanism of the door damper and emergency operation cylinder. To do this, obey the special precautions after the work on the door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-860-002).
(2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(3) Close the passenger/crew door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-410-001), 832 842.
(4) Remove the access platform(s).
