A. Get Access
WARNING: DO NOT OPEN THE PASSENGER/CREW DOOR IF THE WIND SPEED IS MORE THAN 65 KNOTS.
WARNING: BEFORE YOU START WORK ON THE DOOR, MAKE SURE THAT:
  • THE EMERGENCY CONTROL HANDLE IS IN THE DISARMED POSITION WITH THE SAFETY PIN INSTALLED.
  • THE PERCUSSION LEVER OF THE DOOR-DAMPER AND EMERGENCY-OPERATION CYLINDER IS IN THE DISARMED POSITION WITH THE SAFETY PIN INSTALLED.
IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS, THE DOOR CAN OPEN WITH FORCE OR THE ESCAPE SLIDE CAN DEPLOY SUDDENLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
WARNING: STOP THE OPENING PROCEDURE IF THE RED WARNING LIGHT FLASHES. IF THE RED WARNING LIGHT FLASHES, REMAINING PRESSURE CAN CAUSE THE DOOR TO OPEN SUDDENLY AND CAN:
  • KILL OR CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY TO PERSONS
  • CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position in front of the passenger/crew door 831 or 832 or 841 or 842.
   (2) Open the applicable passenger/crew door 831 841 or 832 842 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-010-001).
   (3) Obey the special precautions before you start work on the door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-860-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 52-10-00-710-051-A
A. Operational Test of the Damper and Emergency-Operation Cylinder
   (1) Do a check for correct operation as follows:
     (a) Make sure that you can feel the door damping function when the speed decreases at the end of the door opening travel.
     (b) Make sure that the buffer does not hit the aircraft structure and cause damage to it.
       1 If the buffer hits the aircraft structure:
         a Adjust the buffer as given in the adjustment of the passenger/crew door.
         b Close the passenger/crew door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-410-001).
         c Wait 30 seconds.
         d Open the passenger/crew door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-010-001).
         e Do the step 4.A.(1) again.
       2 If the buffer does not hit the aircraft structure:
         a Close the passenger/crew door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-410-001).
         b Wait 30 seconds.
   (2) Do a check for correct operation as follows:
     (a) When you close the door, at the end of the door travel, make sure that:
  • Damping is correct.
  • The door guide rollers do not hit the sliders with force and cause damage to them.
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
   (1) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
   (2) Obey the special precautions after the work on the door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-860-002).
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
