DETAILED INSPECTION OF AFT DOOR SEALS

This task is only applicable for passenger/crew doors that are manually
blocked from the inside/outside of the aircraft.

3. Job Set-up

A. Get Access
WARNING: DO NOT OPEN THE PASSENGER/CREW DOOR IF THE WIND SPEED IS MORE THAN 65 KNOTS.
WARNING: BEFORE YOU START WORK ON THE DOOR, MAKE SURE THAT:
  • THE EMERGENCY CONTROL HANDLE IS IN THE DISARMED POSITION WITH THE SAFETY PIN INSTALLED.
  • THE PERCUSSION LEVER OF THE DOOR-DAMPER AND EMERGENCY-OPERATION CYLINDER IS IN THE DISARMED POSITION WITH THE SAFETY PIN INSTALLED.
IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS, THE DOOR CAN OPEN WITH FORCE OR THE ESCAPE SLIDE CAN DEPLOY SUDDENLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE FORWARD PASSENGER/CREW DOOR IS OPEN BEFORE YOU OPEN THE AFT PASSENGER/CREW DOOR. THERE IS NO WARNING LIGHT ON THE AFT DOOR TO TELL YOU IF THERE IS RESIDUAL PRESSURE IN THE AIRCRAFT. RESIDUAL PRESSURE CAN CAUSE:
  • THE DOOR TO OPEN WITH A SUDDEN FORCE,
  • INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position in front of the passenger/crew door 832 or 842.
   (2) Open the applicable aft passenger/crew door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-010-001).
   (3) Obey the special precautions before you start work on the door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-860-001).

4. Procedure
Subtask 52-10-00-220-087-A
A. Inspection of the Aft Door Seals
   (1) Do a detailed visual inspection of the aft door seals for:
     (a) Signs of chafing.
     (b) Cuts with small depth (not more than one third of the thickness of the seal).
     (c) Cuts with large depth (more than one third of the thickness of the seal).
   (2) If is necessary, repair the aft door seals (Ref. AMM TASK 52-13-18-300-001).
5. Close-up

A. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

B. Close Access
   (1) Obey the special precautions after the work on the door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-860-002).
   (2) Remove all the ground support equipment, the maintenance equipment, the standard and special tools and all other items.
   (3) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (4) Close the applicable aft passenger/crew door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-410-001).
   (5) Remove the access platform(s).
