A. Get Access
WARNING: DO NOT OPEN THE PASSENGER/CREW DOOR IF THE WIND SPEED IS MORE THAN 65 KNOTS.
WARNING: BEFORE YOU START WORK ON THE DOOR, MAKE SURE THAT:
  • THE EMERGENCY CONTROL HANDLE IS IN THE DISARMED POSITION WITH THE SAFETY PIN INSTALLED.
  • THE PERCUSSION LEVER OF THE DOOR-DAMPER AND EMERGENCY-OPERATION CYLINDER IS IN THE DISARMED POSITION WITH THE SAFETY PIN INSTALLED.
IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS, THE DOOR CAN OPEN WITH FORCE OR THE ESCAPE SLIDE CAN DEPLOY SUDDENLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
WARNING: STOP THE OPENING PROCEDURE IF THE RED WARNING LIGHT FLASHES. IF THE RED WARNING LIGHT FLASHES, REMAINING PRESSURE CAN CAUSE THE DOOR TO OPEN SUDDENLY AND CAN:
  • KILL OR CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY TO PERSONS
  • CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
   (1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position in front of the passenger/crew door 831 or 841.
   (2) Open the passenger/crew door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-010-001).
   (3) Obey the special precautions before you start work on the door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-860-001).

C. Removal of the Components
   (1) Remove the escape slide:
     (a) For the left door:
If installed, remove the left-hand escape slide pack assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-44-000-002).
     (b) For the right door:
If installed, remove the right-hand escape slide pack assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-44-000-802).
   (2) Remove the door linings:
     (a) For the FWD passenger/crew doors (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-46-000-001):
     (b) For the AFT passenger/crew doors (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-46-000-002):
   (3) Remove the lining flap:
     (a) For the forward doors (Ref. AMM TASK 52-11-31-000-001).
     (b) For the aft doors (Ref. AMM TASK 52-13-31-000-001).
   (4) Remove the door insulation.
   (5) Install the 98D52103501000 BALLAST WEIGHT - PASSENGER CREW DOOR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-480-001).

C. Removal of the Components
   (1) Remove the escape slide:
     (a) For the left door:
If installed, remove the left-hand escape slide raft pack assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-44-000-012).
     (b) For the right door:
If installed, remove the right-hand escape slide raft pack assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-44-000-804).
   (2) Remove the door linings:
     (a) For the FWD passenger/crew doors (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-46-000-001):
     (b) For the AFT passenger/crew doors (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-46-000-002):
   (3) Remove the lining flap:
     (a) For the forward doors (Ref. AMM TASK 52-11-31-000-001).
     (b) For the aft doors (Ref. AMM TASK 52-13-31-000-001).
   (4) Remove the door insulation.
   (5) Install the 98D52103501000 BALLAST WEIGHT - PASSENGER CREW DOOR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-480-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 52-10-00-210-077-A
A. Inspection of the Door Mechanisms
   (1) Do a detailed visual inspection of the passenger/crew door for integrity and good adjustment of the door mechanisms. This inspection includes the girt bar.
     (a) Do an inspection of the locking mechanism and the release mechanism of the emergency escape slide.
       1 Make sure that there are no signs of corrosion, scoring, cracks, marks and damage.
     (b) Do an inspection of the safety devices (cotter pins and lockwire) of the locking mechanism and of the release mechanism of the escape slide.
       1 Make sure that the safety devices are correctly installed.

B. Check of the Door Adjustments
   (1) Make sure that the door locking mechanism and the release mechanism of the emergency escape slide are correctly adjusted.
     (a) Put the door in the up position.
       1 Make sure that you can correctly install:
NOTE: The 98DNSA20206120 RIGGING PIN is an alternative to the 98DNSA20206060 RIGGING PIN. But, because of its length, you cannot use the 98DNSA20206120 RIGGING PIN at all the locations.
       2 If you cannot install the RIGGING PIN, adjust the mechanism:
       3 Remove the rigging pins.
     (b) Put the door in the down position.
       1 Make sure that you can correctly install:
  • The 98D52103006000 PIN - RIGGING, DOOR ADJUST on the reducer shaft bellcrank (H)
  • The 98D52103006000 PIN - RIGGING, DOOR ADJUST on the triple bellcrank of the locking shaft mechanism (E).
       2 If you cannot install the RIGGING PIN, adjust the mechanism:
       3 Remove the rigging pins.
       4 With the emergency control handle in ARMED position, make sure that you can correctly install:
NOTE: The 98DNSA20206120 RIGGING PIN is an alternative to the 98DNSA20206060 RIGGING PIN. But, because of its length, you cannot use the 98DNSA20206120 RIGGING PIN at all the location.
       5 If you cannot install the RIGGING PIN, adjust the mechanism:
       6 Remove the rigging pins.
       7 Put the emergency control handle in the DISARMED position.

C. Installation of the Components
   (1) Remove the 98D52103501000 BALLAST WEIGHT - PASSENGER CREW DOOR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-080-001).
   (2) Install the door insulation.
   (3) Install the lining flap:
     (a) For the forward doors (Ref. AMM TASK 52-11-31-400-001).
     (b) For the aft doors (Ref. AMM TASK 52-13-31-400-001).
   (4) Install the door linings:
     (a) For the FWD passenger/crew doors (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-46-400-001):
     (b) For the AFT passenger/crew doors (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-46-400-002):
   (5) Install the escape slide:
     (a) For the left door:
Install the left-hand escape slide pack assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-44-400-006).
     (b) For the right door:
Install the right-hand escape slide pack assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-44-400-802).

D. Check of the Adjustment of the Girt Bar
   (1) With the door in the closed position, put the emergency control handle in the ARMED position.
   (2) Make sure that the visual indicator of the girt bar comes into view.
   (3) Put the emergency control handle in the DISARMED position.

E. Installation of the Components
   (1) Remove the 98D52103501000 BALLAST WEIGHT - PASSENGER CREW DOOR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-080-001).
   (2) Install the door insulation.
   (3) Install the lining flap:
     (a) For the forward doors (Ref. AMM TASK 52-11-31-400-001).
     (b) For the aft doors (Ref. AMM TASK 52-13-31-400-001).
   (4) Install the door linings:
     (a) For the FWD passenger/crew doors (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-46-400-001):
     (b) For the AFT passenger/crew doors (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-46-400-002):
   (5) Install the escape slide:
     (a) For the left door:
Install the left-hand escape slide raft pack assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-44-400-007).
     (b) For the right door:
Install the right-hand escape slide raft pack assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-44-400-803).
Subtask 52-10-00-220-077-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
F. Check of the Adjustment of the Girt Bar
   (1) With the door in the closed position, put the emergency control handle in the ARMED position.
   (2) Make sure that the visual indicator of the girt bar comes into view.
   (3) Make sure that the ends of the girt bar move crosswise.
   (4) Put the emergency control handle in the DISARMED position.
   (5) Push the trigger (4) aft then pull aft to decrease the length of the telescopic end (3). Let the telescopic end extend again.
   (6) Make sure that the telescopic end (3) of the girt bar (2) moves freely with no hard points.
   (7) Make sure that the trigger (4) goes back to its locked position. To do this, make sure that you cannot decrease the length of the telescopic end (3) of the girt bar (2).

A. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

B. Close Access
   (1) Obey the special precautions after the work on the door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-860-002).
   (2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (3) Close the passenger/crew door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-410-001).
   (4) Remove the access platform(s).
   (5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
