Cleaning of the Passenger/Crew-Doors Gust-Lock Control-Mechanism


WARNING: DO NOT OPEN THE PASSENGER/CREW DOOR IF THE WIND SPEED IS MORE THAN 65 KNOTS.
WARNING: BEFORE YOU START WORK ON THE DOOR, MAKE SURE THAT:
  • THE EMERGENCY CONTROL HANDLE IS IN THE DISARMED POSITION WITH THE SAFETY PIN INSTALLED.
  • THE PERCUSSION LEVER OF THE DOOR-DAMPER AND EMERGENCY-OPERATION CYLINDER IS IN THE DISARMED POSITION WITH THE SAFETY PIN INSTALLED.
IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS, THE DOOR CAN OPEN WITH FORCE OR THE ESCAPE SLIDE CAN DEPLOY SUDDENLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
WARNING: STOP THE OPENING PROCEDURE IF THE RED WARNING LIGHT FLASHES. IF THE RED WARNING LIGHT FLASHES, REMAINING PRESSURE CAN CAUSE THE DOOR TO OPEN SUDDENLY AND CAN:

A. Energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).

B. Get Access
   (1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in front of the applicable passenger/crew doors 831(841) or 832/842).
   (2) Open the passenger/crew doors 831 ( 841) or 832 ( 842) (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-010-001).
   (3) Do the steps given in the special precautions task before you start work on the door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-860-001).
   (4) Remove the linings from the support arms:
     (a) For the forward passenger/crew doors (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-46-000-001):
     (b) For the aft passenger/crew doors (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-46-000-002):

C. Removal of Components
   (1) Remove the rods of the door unlocking-mechanism assembly for cleaning:

A. Cleaning of the Gust-Lock Control-Mechanism
   (1) Make sure that the mechanism is in correct condition.
   (2) Make sure that there is no lubricant or Temporary Protection System (TPS) on the rods.
   (3) If there is contamination of the rods, replace the nylon bushes:
   (4) Clean with a clean lint-free cotton cloth Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and with a AIR SOURCE FILTERED, DRY:
  • The primary rod
  • The secondary rod
  • The transfer beam.
     (a) Do not use lubricant for the cleaning of the mechanism.
   (5) Remove all loose particles and dirt with a VACUUM CLEANER and/or a dry BRUSH - BRISTLED from:
  • The lock unit
  • The door unlocking pushbutton-switch.

   (1) Install the rods of the door unlocking-mechanism assembly:

B. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install the linings on the support arms.
     (a) For the forward passenger/crew doors (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-46-400-001):
     (b) For the aft passenger/crew doors (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-46-400-002):
   (3) Do the steps given in the special precautions task on the passenger/crew door after the maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-860-002).
   (4) Close the passenger/crew doors 831 ( 841) and 832 ( 842) (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-410-001).
   (5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.

C. De-energize the ground service network
