A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) On panel 25VU, make sure that the APU MASTER SW p/bsw is OFF position.
   (3) Make sure there is a WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to start the APU.

C. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that BULK cargo-compartment door 827 is open.
   (2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is at BULK cargo-compartment door 827.
   (3) Make sure that access panel 162EW is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-12-000-003).

C. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that AFT cargo-compartment door 826 is open.
   (2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is below AFT cargo-compartment door 826.
   (3) Make sure that access panel 152FW is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-11-000-003).
4. Procedure
Subtask 49-61-34-420-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the ECB
   (1) Make sure that there is no Class 3 DMM fault before you install the ECB. If there is a DMM Class 3 fault, do the applicable troubleshooting procedure TSM 49-70-00-810-821.
NOTE: If there is a Class 3 DMM fault, the information in the ECB can be corrupted when you start the APU.
NOTE: This step is not applicable if it is necessary to correct a Class 3 DMM fault.
   (2) If you install a new ECB, make sure that the DMM was updated with the hour/cycle information of the ECB that you removed.
NOTE: This step is not applicable if it is necessary to correct a Class 3 DMM fault.
   (3) Remove the blanking cap from the electrical connection (4).
   (4) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.

NOTE: The weight of the ECB is 5.7 kg (12.57 lb).
   (5) Put the ECB (3) in position on the tray (1).
   (6) Carefully push the ECB (3) to engage the electrical connection (4).
   (7) Make sure that the ECB (3) and the electrical connection (4) are fully engaged.
   (8) Move the fluted knobs (2) up to engage the feet on the front face of the ECB (3).
   (9) Turn the fluted knobs (2) clockwise to tighten the ECB (3) in position on the rack (1). When the fluted knobs (2) are correctly tightened, you cannot see the red marks on the threads.

B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

C. Do the APU SYSTEM SELF-TEST to make sure that the ECB and the APU LRU's are serviceable.
   (1) Set the CFDS to get the SYSTEM REPORT/TEST page for the APU. (Ref. AMM TASK 31-32-00-860-001)
   (2) On panel 25VU, set the APU MASTER SW pushbutton to ON.
   (3) Do this test.
ACTION
RESULT
1.On the MCDU:
  • Push the pushbutton adjacent to the SYSTEM SELF-TEST indication.
On the MCDU:
  • The APU SYSTEM SELF-TEST page shows and the message
    IN PROGRESS
    Comes on.

  • If the test is satisfactory, the message
    TEST OK
    Comes on.
    This indicates that all LRU's are serviceable.

  • If the test is not satisfactory, the name and the ATA reference number of the unserviceable LRU shows.
  • Push the pushbutton adjacent to the RETURN display.
  • The APU menu page comes on.
  • Push the pushbutton adjacent to the RETURN display.
  • The SYSTEM REPORT/TEST page comes on.
  • Push the pushbutton adjacent to the RETURN display.
  • The CFDS page comes on.

D. Additional Check Procedure
   (1) Set the CFDS to get the SYSTEM REPORT/TEST page for the APU. (Ref. AMM TASK 31-32-00-860-001)

1.On the MCDU, in use:
  • Push the line key adjacent to the LRU IDENTIFICATION indication.
On the MCDU:
  • The LRU IDENTIFICATION page comes on.
NOTE: Make sure that the P/N shown on the LRU IDENTIFICATION page is the same as the P/N given on the front face of the computer. If the P/N is not the same, you must remove the computer and return it to the shop.
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
   (1) Set the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch to the OFF position.
   (2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (3) Install access panel 162EW (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-12-400-003).
   (4) Close BULK cargo-compartment door 827 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-008)
   (5) Remove the access platform(s).

A. Close Access
   (1) Set the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch to the OFF position.
   (2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (3) Install access panel 152FW (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-11-400-003).
   (4) Remove the access platform(s).
   (5) Close AFT cargo-compartment door 826 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
