A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration.
(1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2) On the panel 25VU, make sure that the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch is off.
(3) Make sure there is a warning notice in the cockpit to tell persons not to start the APU.

B. Make sure that this(these) circuit breaker(s) is(are) open, safetied and tagged:

C. Get Access
(1) Make sure that the BULK cargo-compartment door 827 is open.
(2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is at the BULK cargo-compartment door 827.
(3) Make sure that the access panel 162EW is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-12-000-003).

4. Procedure
Subtask 49-61-34-420-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Install the Electronic Control Box (ECB)

WARNING: SUPPORT THE UNIT/ASSEMBLY. THE UNIT/ASSEMBLY IS HEAVY. IF YOU DO NOT SUPPORT IT, IT WILL FALL. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS, AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

(1) Remove the blanking cap from the electrical connection (4).
(2) Put the ECB (3) in position on the tray (1).
(3) Carefully push the ECB (3) to engage the electrical connection (4).
(4) Make sure that the ECB (3) and the electrical connection (4) are fully engaged.
(5) Move the fluted knobs (2) upwards to engage the feet (5) on the front face of the ECB (3).
(6) Turn the fluted knobs (2) clockwise to tighten the ECB (3) in position on the rack (1). When the fluted knobs (2) are correctly tightened, the red marks on the threads are no longer seen.

B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

C. Update the ECB with the APU HOURS/CYCLES and the ECB self-test:
(1) On panel 25VU, set the APU MASTER SW pushbutton to ON.
(2) Make sure that the APU offsets are set to zero (Ref. AMM TASK 31-36-00-740-004).
(3) Update the APU hours and cycles with:

The DMU (Ref. AMM D/O 31-36-00-74), or
The Flight Data Interface and Management Unit (FDIMU) (Ref. AMM TASK 31-36-00-740-013), or
The ECB (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-011).

(4) Set the CFDS to get the SYSTEM REPORT/TEST page for the APU (Ref. AMM TASK 31-32-00-860-001).
(5) Do this test.

ACTION	RESULT
1.On the MCDU: push the pushbutton adjacent to the SYSTEM SELF-TEST indication.	On the MCDU: the APU SYSTEM SELF-TEST page shows and the message IN PROGRESS comes on.
	if the test is satisfactory, the message TEST OK comes on. This indicates that all LRU's are serviceable.
	if the test is not satisfactory, the name and the ATA reference number of the unserviceable LRU shows.
push the pushbutton adjacent to the RETURN display.	the APU menu page comes on.
push the pushbutton adjacent to the RETURN display.	the SYSTEM REPORT/TEST page comes on.

A. Close Access
(1) Set the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch to the OFF position.
(2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(3) Install the access panel 162EW (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-12-400-003).
(4) Close the BULK cargo-compartment door 827 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-008)
(5) Remove the access platform(s).

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration.
(1) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
