A. Removal of the ECB
WARNING: SUPPORT THE UNIT/ASSEMBLY. THE UNIT/ASSEMBLY IS HEAVY. IF YOU DO NOT SUPPORT IT, IT WILL FALL. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS, AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: DO NOT REPLACE THE ECB AND THE DATA MEMORY MODULE AT THE SAME TIME.
   (1) Make sure that there is no Class 3 DMM fault before you remove the ECB.
NOTE: This step is not applicable if it is necessary to correct a Class 3 DMM fault.
   (2) Make sure that the DMM is updated with the hour/cycle information before you remove the ECB.
NOTE: After you correct a Class 3 fault, the DMM is updated with the ECB information. When a new ECB is installed, it is updated with the information stored in the DMM.
NOTE: This step is not applicable if it is necessary to correct a Class 3 DMM fault.
   (3) At the ECB tray (1), turn the fluted knobs (2) counterclockwise to release the ECB (3).
NOTE: The ECB points forward in the aircraft that do not have the optional bulk cargo door. Aircraft with the optional bulk cargo door have the ECB that points rearward.
   (4) Carefully pull the ECB (3) out from the tray (1) to disconnect the electrical connection (4).
   (5) Remove the ECB (3) from the tray (1).
   (6) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
