3. Job Set-up
Subtask 49-12-51-860-058-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
   (2) On the panel 25VU make sure that the APU MASTER SW p/bsw is OFF.
   (3) Make sure that the warning notices is on panel 25VU to tell persons not to start the APU.
   (4) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (5) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE is in position below the access doors 315AL and 316AR.
   (6) Make sure that the APU access doors 315AL, 316AR are open (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001) or removed (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-21-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-22-000-001).
   (7) Make sure that the LIGHT SW 11LJ is set to the ON position.

4. Procedure
Subtask 49-12-51-210-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean the tie-rods (5), (10) and (11) and the vibration isolator (12) with solvent Aqueous Cleaner-Aircraft Exterior Pressure Spraying - (Material No.08ABC1) and a BRUSH - BRISTLED, FIBER, MEDIUM.
   (2) Do a check and make sure that the tie-rods (5), (10) and (11) are in correct condition.
   (3) If the tie-rods and/or the vibration isolator are damaged, replace them if necessary.
   (4) Clean and examine the attachment brackets, the APU mount-bracket (14) and the structure for damage and replace if necessary.
Subtask 49-12-51-420-056-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Installation of the Vibration Isolator
CAUTION: WHEN YOU REMOVE (INSTALL) THE APU, DISENGAGE (ENGAGE) ALL THE VIBRATION ISOLATORS AT THE SAME TIME FROM THE APU MOUNT BRACKETS. IF YOU DISENGAGE (ENGAGE) THEM ONE AFTER THE OTHER, THE LOADS WILL NOT BE EQUAL. THIS WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TIE RODS.
   (1) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) or Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to all mating surfaces. Do not apply it to the bonding straps.
   (2) If removed, install the tie-rods (5), (10) and (11).
     (a) Install the bolts (15), the washers (16) and the castle nuts (17).
     (b) TORQUE the castle nuts (17) to between 0.75 and 0.55 m.daN (66.37 and 48.67 lbf.in ) T and safety them with the new AIPC 49-12-04-02-110 COTTER PIN (18).
     (c) Connect the bonding strap at the bonding bracket (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
     (d) Install the screws (22), the washers (21) and the nuts (19).
     (e) TORQUE the nuts (19) to between 0.26 and 0.22 m.daN (23.01 and 19.47 lbf.in ) T.
   (3) Install the vibration isolator (12) on the APU mount-bracket (14).
   (4) Install the tie-rods (5), (10) and (11) at the vibration isolator (12).
   (5) Install the bolts (4) and (9), the washers (3) and (8) and the castle nuts (2) and (6).
   (6) TORQUE the castle nuts (6) to between 0.35 and 0.3 m.daN (30.97 and 26.55 lbf.in )
T and safety them with the new AIPC 49-12-04-02-120 COTTER PINS (7).
   (7) TORQUE the castle nut (2) to between 0.75 and 0.55 m.daN (66.37 and 48.67 lbf.in )
T and safety them with the new AIPC 49-12-04-02-110 COTTER PINS (1).
   (8) Remove the
98A49107504001 PROTECTOR-THREADS,APU MOUNTING BOLTS and install the nut (13).
   (9) TORQUE the nut (13) to between 3.1 and 2.5 m.daN (22.86 and 18.44 lbf.ft ) T
   (10) Put a mark on the nut (13) with red locking varnish to identify the torqued position.
Subtask 49-12-51-420-056-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Installation of the Vibration Isolator
CAUTION: WHEN YOU REMOVE (INSTALL) THE APU, DISENGAGE (ENGAGE) ALL THE VIBRATION ISOLATORS AT THE SAME TIME FROM THE APU MOUNT BRACKETS. IF YOU DISENGAGE (ENGAGE) THEM ONE AFTER THE OTHER, THE LOADS WILL NOT BE EQUAL. THIS WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TIE RODS.
   (1) Protective Treatment
     (a) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.
06LCG9) or Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to all mating surfaces. Do not apply it to the bonding straps.
   (2) If removed, install the tie-rods (5), (10) and (11).
     (a) Install the tie-rods (5), (10) and (11) at the brackets.
     (b) Install the bolts (15), the washers (16) and the castle nuts (17).
     (c) Tighten and TORQUE the castle nuts (17) to between to between 0.75 and 0.55 m.daN (66.37 and 48.67 lbf.in ) T and safety them with the new AIPC 49-12-04-02-110 COTTER PIN (18) or AIPC 49-12-84-41-070 COTTER PIN (18).
     (d) Connect the bonding strap (20) at bonding bracket (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
     (e) Install the clamps (27) and (28) at the tie-rod (11) with the screws (26), the washers (25) and the nuts (23).
     (f) Install the screws (22), the washers (21) and the nuts (19).
     (g) Tighten and TORQUE the nuts (19) to between to between 0.26 and 0.22 m.daN (23.01 and 19.47 lbf.in ) T.
   (3) Install the vibration isolator 4035KM (12) on the APU mount-bracket (14).
   (4) Install the tie-rods (5), (10) and (11) at the vibration isolator (12).
   (5) Install the bolts (4), and (9), the washers (3) and (8) and the castle nuts (2), and (6).
   (6) Tighten and TORQUE the castle nuts (6) to between 0.35 and 0.3 m.daN (30.97 and 26.55 lbf.in )
T and safety them with the new AIPC 49-12-04-02-120 COTTER PINS (7) or AIPC 49-12-84-41-080 COTTER PINS (7).
   (7) Tighten and TORQUE the castle nut (2) to between 0.75 and 0.55 m.daN (66.37 and 48.67 lbf.in )
T and safety them with the new AIPC 49-12-04-02-110 COTTER PINS (1). or AIPC 49-12-84-41-070 COTTER PIN (1).
   (8) Remove the
98A49107504001 PROTECTOR-THREADS,APU MOUNTING BOLTS and install the nut (13).
   (9) Tighten and TORQUE the nut (13) to between 3.1 and 2.5 m.daN (22.86 and 18.44 lbf.ft ) T
   (10) Put a mark on the nut (13) with red locking varnish to identify the torqued position.

B. Installation of the Vibration Isolator
CAUTION: WHEN YOU REMOVE (INSTALL) THE APU, DISENGAGE (ENGAGE) ALL THE VIBRATION ISOLATORS AT THE SAME TIME FROM THE APU MOUNT BRACKETS. IF YOU DISENGAGE (ENGAGE) THEM ONE AFTER THE OTHER, THE LOADS WILL NOT BE EQUAL. THIS WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TIE RODS.
   (1) Protective Treatment
     (a) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.
06LDG2) to all mating surfaces. Do not apply it to the bonding straps.
   (2) If removed, install the tie-rods (5), (10) and (11).
     (a) Install the tie-rods (5), (10) and (11) at the brackets.
     (b) Install the bolts (15), the washers (16) and the castle nuts (17).
     (c) Tighten and TORQUE the castle nuts (17) to between to between 0.75 and 0.55 m.daN (66.37 and 48.67 lbf.in ) T and safety them with the new AIPC 49-12-04-02-110 COTTER PIN (18) or AIPC 49-12-84-41-070 COTTER PIN (18).
     (d) Connect the bonding strap (20) at bonding bracket (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
     (e) Install the clamps (27) and (28) at the tie-rod (11) with the screws (26), the washers (25) and the nuts (23).
     (f) Install the screws (22), the washers (21) and the nuts (19).
     (g) Tighten and TORQUE the nuts (19) to between to between 0.26 and 0.22 m.daN (23.01 and 19.47 lbf.in ) T.
   (3) Install the vibration isolator 4035KM (12) on the APU mount-bracket (14).
   (4) Install the tie-rods (5), (10) and (11) at the vibration isolator (12).
   (5) Install the bolts (4), and (9), the washers (3) and (8) and the castle nuts (2), and (6).
   (6) Tighten and TORQUE the castle nuts (6) to between 0.35 and 0.3 m.daN (30.97 and 26.55 lbf.in )
T and safety them with the new AIPC 49-12-04-02-120 COTTER PINS (7) or AIPC 49-12-84-41-080 COTTER PINS (7).
   (7) Tighten and TORQUE the castle nut (2) to between 0.75 and 0.55 m.daN (66.37 and 48.67 lbf.in )
T and safety them with the new AIPC 49-12-04-02-110 COTTER PINS (1) or AIPC 49-12-84-41-070 COTTER PIN (1).
   (8) Remove the
98A49107504001 PROTECTOR-THREADS,APU MOUNTING BOLTS and install the nut (13).
   (9) Tighten and TORQUE the nut (13) to between 3.1 and 2.5 m.daN (22.86 and 18.44 lbf.ft ) T
   (10) Put a mark on the nut (13) with red locking varnish to identify the torqued position.

D. Apply a thin layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Oily Film System (Material No.12ABE2) to the vibration isolator (12), the tie-rod, the suspension structural brackets and the APU mount-bracket.

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Set the LIGHT SW 11LJ to the OFF position.
   (3) Close the APU access doors 316AR 315AL (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-410-001) .
   (4) Remove the access platform(s).

C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration.
   (1) Put the related hydraulic system in the pressurized configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (2) De-energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-862-001).
   (3) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
