A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
WARNING: BEFORE YOU DO WORK IN OR NEAR A FUEL TANK, MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE SAFETY PROCEDURES. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
   (2) Obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
   (3) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position:
  • On the HYD/FUEL control panel 40VU, to tell persons not to operate the fuel system
  • On the refuel/defuel control panel 800VU/801VU, to tell persons not to refuel the aircraft.

D. Fuel Configuration
   (1) Defuel the center tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001) or move the fuel into a different tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001).
   (2) Drain the remaining fuel from the center tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).
   (3) On the defuel/refuel control panel 800VU, make sure that:
  • All the valve control switches are set to the SHUT position.
  • The MODE SELECT switch is set to OFF position.

E. Get Access
   (1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE at Zone 142.
   (2) Get access to the center tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002).
   (3) Remove the access panel 148AZ (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-000-001).
4. Procedure
WARNING: DO NOT GO INTO THE WORK AREA UNTIL A MINIMUM OF 5 MINUTES AFTER YOU REMOVE THE ACCESS PANEL. LET AIR FLOW THROUGH THE WORK AREA. AIR FROM THIS SYSTEM HAS A LOW OXYGEN CONTENT AND CAN CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH.
Subtask 47-20-49-420-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the NEA line
NOTE: Two persons are necessary to do this procedure.
   (1) To install the NEA pipe (2):
     (a) Remove CAP - BLANKING from the disconnected pipe ends.
     (b) Install the clamps (52), (72) on the support brackets (51), (70) with the bolts (53), (75) and the washers (54), (76).
     (c) Tighten the bolts (53), (75) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-21-11-911-001).
     (d) Apply Primer Epoxy Paint-- Corrosion Inhibiting Structure (Material No.04DAB2) on the bolts (53) and (75).
     (e) Install NEA pipe (2) on the union (85) and tighten the nut (84).
     (f) TORQUE the nut (84) to between 5.3 and 4.8 m.daN (39.09 and 35.40 lbf.ft ) T.
     (g) Install the screw (82) and the nut (81) on the clamp (83) and tighten the nut (81).
     (h) TORQUE the nut (81) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )
T.
     (i) Attach the bonding lead (79) to the clamp (83) with the self-locking nut (80) (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
     (j) TORQUE the self-locking nut (80) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in ) T.
     (k) Apply Varnish-- Electrical Bonding Structure (Material No.
04TMB2) to the screw (82), the nut (81) and the self-locking nut (80).
     (l) Install the screw (78) and the nut (74) on the clamp (77) and tighten the nut (74).
     (m) TORQUE the nut (74) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in ) T.
     (n) Attach the bonding lead (71) to the clamp (77) with the self-locking nut (73) (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
     (o) TORQUE the self-locking nut (73) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in ) T.
     (p) Apply Varnish-- Electrical Bonding Structure (Material No.
04TMB2) to the screw (78), the nut (74) and the self-locking nut (73).
     (q) Install the screw (40) and the nut (50) on the clamp (41) and tighten the nut (50).
     (r) TORQUE the nut (50) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in ) T.
     (s) Attach the bonding lead (48) to the clamp (41) with the self-locking nut (49). (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
     (t) TORQUE the self-locking nut (49) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in ) T.
     (u) Apply Varnish-- Electrical Bonding Structure (Material No.
04TMB2) to the screw (40), the nut (50) and the self-locking nut (49).
   (2) To install the NEA pipe (1):
     (a) Remove CAP - BLANKING from the disconnected pipe ends.
     (b) Install the clamps (7), (12) on the support brackets (6), (11) with the bolts (8), (16) and the washers (9), (15).
     (c) Tighten the bolts (8), (16) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-21-11-911-001).
     (d) Apply Primer Epoxy Paint-- Corrosion Inhibiting Structure (Material No.04DAB2) on the bolts (8) and (16).
     (e) Install NEA pipe (1) on the union (42) with the nut (43).
     (f) TORQUE the nut (43) to between 5.3 and 4.8 m.daN (39.09 and 35.40 lbf.ft ) T.
     (g) Install the screw (44) and the nut (45) on the clamp (47) and tighten the nut (45).
     (h) TORQUE the nut (45) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )
T.
     (i) Attach the bonding lead (48) to the clamp (47) with the self-locking nut (46) (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
     (j) TORQUE the self-locking nut (46) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in ) T.
     (k) Apply Varnish-- Electrical Bonding Structure (Material No.
04TMB2) on the screw (44), the nut (45) and the self-locking nut (46).
     (l) Install the screw (13) and the nut (17) on the clamp (14) and tighten the nut (17).
     (m) TORQUE the nut (17) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in ) T.
     (n) Attach the bonding lead (10) to the clamp (14) with the self-locking nut (18) (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
     (o) TORQUE the nut (18) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in ) T.
     (p) Apply Varnish-- Electrical Bonding Structure (Material No.
04TMB2) on the screw (13), the nut (17) and the self-locking nut (18).
   (3) Do a check of the bonding (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install the 148AZ (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-400-001).
   (3) Close the related access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002).
   (4) Remove the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE.

B. Fuel Configuration
   (1) Refuel the center tank (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-003).
   (2) On the defuel/refuel control panel 800VU, make sure that:
  • All the valve control switches are set to the OPEN position
  • the MODE SELECT switch is set to the REFUEL position.

C. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (2) Remove the SAFETY BARRIER(S).
