IF YOU GET FUEL ON YOUR SKIN OR ON YOUR CLOTHES, FLUSH IT IMMEDIATELY WITH WATER.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
(3) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position:

WARNING:
BEFORE YOU DO WORK IN OR NEAR A FUEL TANK, MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE SAFETY PROCEDURES. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
(2) Obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001). (3) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position:
- On the HYD/FUEL control panel 40VU, to tell persons not to operate the fuel system
- On the refuel/defuel control panel 800VU/801VU, to tell persons not to refuel the aircraft.
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).

D. Fuel Configuration
(1) Defuel the center tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001) or move the fuel into a different tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001).
(2) Drain the remaining fuel from the center tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).
(3) On the defuel/refuel control panel 800VU, make sure that:
Subtask 47-20-49-010-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Defuel the center tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001) or move the fuel into a different tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001).
(2) Drain the remaining fuel from the center tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).
(3) On the defuel/refuel control panel 800VU, make sure that:
- All the valve control switches are set to the SHUT position.
- The MODE SELECT switch is set to OFF position.
E. Get Access
(1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE at Zone 142.
(2) Get access to the center tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002).
(3) Remove the access panel 148AZ (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-000-001).
4. Procedure(1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE at Zone 142.
(2) Get access to the center tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002).
(3) Remove the access panel 148AZ (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-000-001).
WARNING:
DO NOT GO INTO THE WORK AREA UNTIL A MINIMUM OF 5 MINUTES AFTER YOU REMOVE THE ACCESS PANEL. LET AIR FLOW THROUGH THE WORK AREA. AIR FROM THIS SYSTEM HAS A LOW OXYGEN CONTENT AND CAN CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH.
Subtask 47-20-49-020-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Removal of the NEA line.
(a) Remove the self-locking nut (18) and disconnect the bonding lead (10) from the clamp (14). Remove the nut (17) and the screw (13).
(b) Remove the self-locking nut (46) and disconnect the bonding lead (48) from the clamp (47). Remove the nut (45) and the screw (44).
(c) Loosen the nut (43) from the union (42) and carefully disengage the NEA pipe (1) from the NEA pipe (2).
(d) Remove the bolts (8), (16) and the washers (9), (15) and disconnect the clamps (7), (12) from the support brackets (6), (11).
(e) Put CAP - BLANKING at the ends of disconnected pipe.
(2) To remove the NEA pipe (2):
(a) Remove the self-locking nut (49) and disconnect the bonding lead (48) from the clamp (41). Remove the nut (50) and the screw (40).
(b) Remove the self-locking nut (73) and disconnect the bonding lead (71) from clamp (77). Remove the nut (74) and the screw (78).
(c) Remove the self-locking nut (80) and disconnect the bonding lead (79) from the clamp (83). Remove the nut (81) and the screw (82).
(d) Loosen the nut (84) from the union (85) and carefully disengage the NEA pipe (2).
(e) Remove the bolts (53), (75) and the washers (54), (76) and disconnect the clamps (52), (72) from the support brackets (51) and (70).
(f) Put CAP - BLANKING at the ends of disconnected pipe.
NOTE: Two persons are necessary to do this procedure.
(1) To remove the NEA pipe (1): (a) Remove the self-locking nut (18) and disconnect the bonding lead (10) from the clamp (14). Remove the nut (17) and the screw (13).
(b) Remove the self-locking nut (46) and disconnect the bonding lead (48) from the clamp (47). Remove the nut (45) and the screw (44).
(c) Loosen the nut (43) from the union (42) and carefully disengage the NEA pipe (1) from the NEA pipe (2).
(d) Remove the bolts (8), (16) and the washers (9), (15) and disconnect the clamps (7), (12) from the support brackets (6), (11).
(e) Put CAP - BLANKING at the ends of disconnected pipe.
(2) To remove the NEA pipe (2):
(a) Remove the self-locking nut (49) and disconnect the bonding lead (48) from the clamp (41). Remove the nut (50) and the screw (40).
(b) Remove the self-locking nut (73) and disconnect the bonding lead (71) from clamp (77). Remove the nut (74) and the screw (78).
(c) Remove the self-locking nut (80) and disconnect the bonding lead (79) from the clamp (83). Remove the nut (81) and the screw (82).
(d) Loosen the nut (84) from the union (85) and carefully disengage the NEA pipe (2).
(e) Remove the bolts (53), (75) and the washers (54), (76) and disconnect the clamps (52), (72) from the support brackets (51) and (70).
(f) Put CAP - BLANKING at the ends of disconnected pipe.
