Removal of the Air Separation Module
WARNING:
PUT THE SAFETY DEVICES AND THE WARNING NOTICES IN POSITION BEFORE YOU START A TASK ON OR NEAR:
- THE FLIGHT CONTROLS
- THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES
- THE LANDING GEAR AND THE RELATED DOORS
- COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.
WARNING:
YOU MUST PUT ON AND ATTACH A SAFETY HARNESS BEFORE YOU START WORK:
1. Reason for the Job- ON THE THS OR IN THE REAR FUSELAGE

A. Air Separation Module (ASM) Removal
(1) Remove the Nitrogen Enriched Air (NEA) outlet (22):
(a) Hold the NEA outlet (22) and remove the nut (6).
(b) Remove the screw (23), the washer (24), the clamp (25) and the NEA duct standoff (30).
(c) Pull up the latch pawls of the clamp (28). Remove and keep the clamp (28).
(e) Remove the NEA outlet (22) from the bracket (5).
(f) Remove and discard the packings (26) and (29).
(g) Remove the sleeve (27) from the DFSOV outlet fitting (3) and keep it with the clamp (28).
(2) Remove the ASM (1):
(a) Pull up the latch pawls of the clamp (12). Remove and keep the clamp (12).
(c) Pull up the latch pawls of the clamp (18). Remove and keep the clamp (18).
(e) Hold the ASM (1) and remove the bolts (9), the washers (8) and the ASM straps (7).
(f) Remove and discard the ASM (1) with the packings (14) and (19).
(g) Remove and discard the packings (11) and (16).
(h) Remove the sleeve (13) from the ASM outlet (4) and keep it with the clamp (12).
(i) Remove the sleeve (17) from the air stream inlet (10) and keep it with the clamp (18).
(3) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
(1) Remove the Nitrogen Enriched Air (NEA) outlet (22):
(a) Hold the NEA outlet (22) and remove the nut (6).
(b) Remove the screw (23), the washer (24), the clamp (25) and the NEA duct standoff (30).
(c) Pull up the latch pawls of the clamp (28). Remove and keep the clamp (28).
NOTE: The clamp (28) and the sleeve (27) attach together to make the coupling assembly.
(d) Move the sleeve (27) across the packing (29) to the Dual Flow and Shut-Off Valve (DFSOV) outlet fitting (3). (e) Remove the NEA outlet (22) from the bracket (5).
(f) Remove and discard the packings (26) and (29).
(g) Remove the sleeve (27) from the DFSOV outlet fitting (3) and keep it with the clamp (28).
(2) Remove the ASM (1):
(a) Pull up the latch pawls of the clamp (12). Remove and keep the clamp (12).
NOTE: The clamp (12) and the sleeve (13) attach together to make the coupling assembly.
(b) Move the sleeve (13) across the packing (11) to the NEA outlet (4). (c) Pull up the latch pawls of the clamp (18). Remove and keep the clamp (18).
NOTE: The clamp (18) and the sleeve (17) attach together to make the coupling assembly.
(d) Move the sleeve (17) across the packing (16) to the air stream inlet (10). (e) Hold the ASM (1) and remove the bolts (9), the washers (8) and the ASM straps (7).
(f) Remove and discard the ASM (1) with the packings (14) and (19).
(g) Remove and discard the packings (11) and (16).
(h) Remove the sleeve (13) from the ASM outlet (4) and keep it with the clamp (12).
(i) Remove the sleeve (17) from the air stream inlet (10) and keep it with the clamp (18).
(3) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
