CAUTION: DURING THE UPLOADING OF THE SOFTWARE COMPONENTS TO THE ATSU (FIN'S 20TXSW1, 21TXSW1, 30TXSW1, 23TXSW1, 25TXSW1, 35TXSW1, 36TXSW1, 39TXSW1, 37TXSW1, 22TXSW1, 24TXSW1, 31TXSW1, 42TXSW1), MAKE SURE THAT:
  • MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL DO NOT CHANGE THE SOURCE OF THE AIRCRAFT POWER SUPPLY (GROUND POWER UNIT, APU, ETC.)
  • MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL DO NOT TOUCH OR MOVE THE DATA LOADER SELECTOR(S)/DLRB AND THE MDDU/PDL.
IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE TWO PRECAUTIONS, THERE CAN BE ERASURE OF ALL THE SOFTWARE COMPONENTS LOADED INTO THE ATSU. IT CAN THEN BE NECESSARY TO START THE UPLOADING PROCEDURE OF ALL THE ATSU SOFTWARE COMPONENTS AGAIN.
A. Loading Procedure of the ATSU Software
NOTE: The loading time for a full disk is twelve minutes approximately.
Upload the ATSU software in this sequence:
  • ATSU A/C INTERFACE software disk (20TX)
  • ATSU CONFIGURATION software disk (21TX)
  • ATSU ROUTER PARAMETERS software disk (30TX)
to prevent generation of BITE messages.
NOTE: Between each software uploading procedure:
  • Set the ON/OFF switch on the portable data loader to OFF
  • Disconnect the portable data loader
  • Connect again the portable data loader
to validate each uploading and thus, the software is operational.
NOTE: The loading time for a full disk changes in relation to the software. The maximum loading time is 40 minutes.
NOTE: On the MCDU, after the uploading procedures, the operator must do a check of the reference of the software loaded in the computer.
NOTE: When you upload the FIN 30TX, if the P/Ns of the FINs 20TX and 30TX are not compatible:
  • It is necessary to upload again the ATSU software 20TX and 21TX.
ACTION
RESULT
1.In the avionics compartment, on the portable data loader:
  • Set the ON/OFF switch to ON.
On the portable data loader:
  • The < < MDDU READY > > indication is shown.
2.On the portable data loader:
  • Put the disk into the disk drive.
On the portable data loader:
  • The READY indication is shown
  • Then, the WAIT RESPONSE indication is shown
  • Then, the < < TRANSF IN PROG > > indication is shown.
NOTE: If a transfer fault occurs, we recommend that you wait a minimum of three minutes:
  • After you set the ON/OFF switch on the portable data loader to OFF and
  • Before you start the uploading of the ATSU software again.
Thus, the ATSU can complete its Power On Self-Test.
NOTE: If more than one disk are necessary to do the uploading, the EJECT DISK and INSERT NEXT DISK indications are shown one after the other. They tell the operator to put a new disk into the portable data loader.
NOTE: If more than one disk are necessary to do the uploading and if a transfer fault occurs, the uploading must be resumed from the beginning (i.e. from disk 1).
NOTE: On the upper ECAM DU, the COM ACARS FAULT or DATALINK ATSU FAULT warning is shown when you upload the ATSU A/C INTERFACE software.

On the MCDU MENU page:
  • The ATSU prompt is not shown.

On the portable data loader:
  • When the uploading is completed, the TRANSF COMPLETE indication is shown.
3.On the portable data loader:
  • Eject the disk from the disk drive.
  • Set the ON/OFF switch to OFF.
On the portable data loader:
  • The < < MDDU READY > > indication is shown.
4.In the avionics compartment:
  • Disconnect the cable of the portable data loader from the ATSU DATA LOADER connector 183VC
  • Put the blanking cap on the ATSU DATA LOADER connector 183VC.
On the upper ECAM DU:
  • The COM ACARS FAULT or DATALINK ATSU FAULT warning comes into view for approximately one minute.
NOTE: When the portable data loader is disconnected, the ATSU does a Power On Self Test (POST). The COM ACARS FAULT or DATALINK ATSU FAULT warning goes out of view at the end of this test.

On the MCDU MENU page:
  • The ATSU prompt comes into view.
NOTE: If the ATSU Router is not initialized, the ACARS STBY memo or the DATALINK ATSU FAULT + ATSU INIT FAULT warning comes into view on the upper ECAM DU.
5.Repeat the same operation for each set of application disks that you must upload.

  • Disconnect the portable data loader
  • Connect again the portable data loader
to validate each uploading and thus, the software is operational.
NOTE: On the MCDU, after the uploading procedures, the operator must do a check of the reference of the software loaded in the computer.
NOTE: During the uploading of the FIN 24TX customized, if you disconnect the MDDU before the TRANSF COMPLETE or TRANSF FAILED indication is shown:
  • It will be necessary to upload again all the software loaded in the ATSU (this is not applicable to FIN 20TX).
