Installation of the Washbasin Drain Valve

NOTE: The installation of a drain valve in a lavatory is given. The procedure is the same for all the lavatories.

Subtask 38-32-42-860-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the ground service network is energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
(2) Make sure that the door of the related lavatory is open.
(3) Make sure that the sanitary cabinet door is open.
(4) Make sure that the potable-water shutoff valve (30) is closed.
(5) Make sure that a CONTAINER 1 L (1/4 USGAL) is below the washbasin to collect unwanted water.
Subtask 38-32-42-860-051-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that the ground service network is energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
(2) Make sure that the door of the related lavatory is open.
(3) Make sure that the sanitary cabinet door is open.
(4) Make sure that the potable-water shutoff valve (30) is closed.
(5) Make sure that a CONTAINER 1 L (1/4 USGAL) is below the washbasin to collect unwanted water.

Subtask 38-32-42-420-051-F ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Drain Valve in the Washbasin
(1) Put the new AIPC 38-32-42-01-020 PACKING (4) and the valve body (5) in position on the washbasin.
(2) Make sure that the identification marks are aligned.
(3) Put the collar (3) in position.
(4) Put the bolt (2) in position.
(5) Install the new AIPC 38-32-42-01-050 O-RING (6), the spacer (7), the washer (8), the nut (9) and the lock-nut (10).
(6) Install the hoses (11) and (13).
(7) Install the clamps (12).
(8) Install the plug (1).
Subtask 38-32-42-420-051-G ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Put the new AIPC 38-32-42-01-020 PACKING (4) and the valve body (5) in position on the washbasin.
(2) Make sure that the identification marks are aligned.
(3) Put the collar (3) in position.
(4) Put the bolt (2) in position.
(5) Install the new AIPC 38-32-42-01-050 O-RING (6), the spacer (7), the washer (8), the nut (9) and the lock-nut (10).
(6) Install the hoses (11) and (13).
(7) Install the clamps (12).
(8) Install the plug (1).
A. Installation of the Washbasin Drain Valve
(1) Put the flange (4) in position on the washbasin (5).
(2) Put a new AIPC 38-32-42-02-020 GASKET (6) and the drain housing (7) in their installation position.
(3) Make sure that you align the match marks.
(5) Install the filter assembly (3).
(6) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic Oil base Grease-Fuel and Oxidized Environment Fluorinated - (Material No.03GEE1) to a new AIPC 38-32-42-02-080 PACKING (2).
(8) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic Oil base Grease-Fuel and Oxidized Environment Fluorinated - (Material No.03GEE1) to the outer diameter of the sieve (1).
(9) Install the sieve (1) with the packing (2) on the flange (4).
(10) If applicable, install the stopper (10).
(11) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
(12) Connect the hose (8) to the drain housing (7).
(13) Install the clamp (9).
Subtask 38-32-42-820-050-D ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Put the flange (4) in position on the washbasin (5).
(2) Put a new AIPC 38-32-42-02-020 GASKET (6) and the drain housing (7) in their installation position.
(3) Make sure that you align the match marks.
CAUTION:
BE CAREFUL NOT TO TIGHTEN THE FLANGE TOO MUCH. IF YOU DO, DAMAGE TO THE PLASTIC BASIN CAN OCCUR.
(4) Use an ALLEN KEY 1 INCH to tighten the flange (4) between 1/8 and max 1/4 turn counterclockwise. (5) Install the filter assembly (3).
(6) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic Oil base Grease-Fuel and Oxidized Environment Fluorinated - (Material No.03GEE1) to a new AIPC 38-32-42-02-080 PACKING (2).
CAUTION:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU INSTALL THE O-RING ON THE SIEVE. YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE O-RING IF YOU EXPAND IT TOO MUCH.
(7) Use an T060040 ASSEMBLY TOOL to install the packing (2) on the sieve (1). (8) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic Oil base Grease-Fuel and Oxidized Environment Fluorinated - (Material No.03GEE1) to the outer diameter of the sieve (1).
(9) Install the sieve (1) with the packing (2) on the flange (4).
(10) If applicable, install the stopper (10).
(11) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
(12) Connect the hose (8) to the drain housing (7).
(13) Install the clamp (9).
B. Adjustment of the Drain Valve Control
(1) Pull the lever (1) up until it stops.
(2) Loosen the locknut (6) and the stud (5). Do not remove them from the connecting block (4).
(3) Push the washbasin drain plug down and tighten the stud (5) and the locknut (6).
(4) Push the lever (1) in and make sure that the washbasin drain plug opens.
(5) Loosen the locknut (9) and the stud (8). Do not remove them from the connecting block (11).
(6) Adjust the control rod (7) until it is perpendicular with the lever assembly (10) and tighten the stud (8) and the locknut (9).
(7) Operate the lever (1) for a minimum of two times and make sure that the system operates freely.
(8) Loosen the locknut (3) and adjust the stud (2) until the lever (1) has sufficient friction to keep it in the pulled position.
(9) Tighten the locknut (3).
Subtask 38-32-42-865-064-A (1) Pull the lever (1) up until it stops.
(2) Loosen the locknut (6) and the stud (5). Do not remove them from the connecting block (4).
(3) Push the washbasin drain plug down and tighten the stud (5) and the locknut (6).
(4) Push the lever (1) in and make sure that the washbasin drain plug opens.
(5) Loosen the locknut (9) and the stud (8). Do not remove them from the connecting block (11).
(6) Adjust the control rod (7) until it is perpendicular with the lever assembly (10) and tighten the stud (8) and the locknut (9).
(7) Operate the lever (1) for a minimum of two times and make sure that the system operates freely.
(8) Loosen the locknut (3) and adjust the stud (2) until the lever (1) has sufficient friction to keep it in the pulled position.
(9) Tighten the locknut (3).
C. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

A. Close Access
(1) Remove the container.
(2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(3) Open the potable-water shutoff valve (30).
(4) Close the sanitary cabinet door.
(5) Close access to the related lavatory.

A. Close Access
(1) Remove the CONTAINER 1 L (1/4 USGAL).
(2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(3) For the standard lavatory:
(a) Turn the control handle (2) to open the potable-water shutoff valve (1).
(4) For the space flex lavatory:
(a) Turn the control handle (4) to open the potable-water shutoff valve (3).
(5) For the smart lavatory:
(a) Turn the control handle (6) to open the potable-water shutoff valve (5).
(6) Close the sanitary cabinet door.
(7) Close access to the related lavatory.
Subtask 38-32-42-862-051-A (1) Remove the CONTAINER 1 L (1/4 USGAL).
(2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(3) For the standard lavatory:
(a) Turn the control handle (2) to open the potable-water shutoff valve (1).
