WARNING: DO NOT DO WORK ON THE TOILET WASTE SYSTEM AND THE POTABLE WATER SYSTEM AT THE SAME TIME. THIS WILL PREVENT CONTAMINATION OF THE POTABLE WATER SYSTEM. SUCH CONTAMINATION CAN BE DANGEROUS TO HEALTH.

3. Job Set-up

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the ground service network is energized
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
   (2) Make sure that the waste holding tank is drained (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-00-680-001).
   (3) Make sure that aft cargo-compartment door 826 is open (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-003).
   (4) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is in position at aft cargo-compartment door 826.
   (5) Make sure that cargo-compartment light switch 8LU is set to ON.
   (6) Make sure that partitions 161DW and 162DW are removed (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-12-000-001).
   (7) Make sure that the center support strut is removed at FR65 (Ref. AMM TASK 53-43-11-000-001).
   (8) Make sure that the insulation around the waste holding tank is removed.

   (1) If removed, install level sensor 41MG onto waste holding tank 3300MM (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-63-400-001).

4. Procedure
Subtask 38-31-61-420-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of Waste Holding Tank 3300MM
F Clamp Installation Requirements ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Prepare the surface of the bonding point(s)
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-803).
   (4) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
   (5) Put waste holding tank 3300MM (1) in its correct installation position.
   (6) Install the quick coupler clamps (2) but do not tighten them.
   (7) Install the tank drain line (6) (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-74-400-001).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE BONDING STRAP(S) IS(ARE) CONNECTED BEFORE YOU CONNECT THE ELECTRICAL WIRE(S).
   (8) If applicable, install the bonding strap (9) as follows:
     (a) Put the bonding strap (9) in its correct installation position.
     (b) Install the bolt (10), the washer (11) and the nut (12).
     (c) Tighten the nut (12).
   (9) Do the electrical resistance measurement and the final protection of the bonding point(s)
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802):
  • Make sure that the maximum bonding value at the bonding strap (9) is not more than 20 milliohms.
   (10) Connect the connections (29) of the rinse lines.
   (11) Install the water separator (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-67-400-001).
   (12) Select the applicable new packings (28):
   (13) Apply a thin layer of Lubricant-Rubber seal Glycerin - (Material No.03PEB1) on the packings (28).
   (14) Install the packings (28) on the waste pipe ends.
   (15) Put the waste pipes (3), (4), (5), (7) and (8) in their correct installation positions.
   (16) Install the clamps (26) as follows:
     (a) Put the sleeves (27) in their correct installation positions.
     (b) Put the clamps (26) in their correct installation positions.
     (c) Install the clamps (26) and lock them.
     (d) Make sure that the clamps (26) are locked correctly:
  • The axial adjustment is not more than 6.35 mm (0.25 in.).
  • The angular misalignment is not more than +/- 4 degrees in all directions around the centerline.
   (17) Put the bracket (20) in its correct installation position.
   (18) Install the washers (19) and the screws (18).
   (19) Tighten the screws (18).
   (20) Put the clamps (23) in their correct installation positions.
   (21) Install the washers (22) and the screws (21).
   (22) Install the washers (24) and the nuts (25).
   (23) Tighten the nuts (25).
   (24) Install liquid level transmitter 40MG (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-62-400-001).
   (25) Connect the pipe (15).
   (26) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (27) Connect the electrical connectors (16) and (17).
   (28) Tighten the quick coupler clamps (2).

A. Installation of Waste Holding Tank 3300MM

   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Prepare the surface of the bonding point(s)
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-803).
   (4) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
   (5) Put waste holding tank 3300MM (1) in its correct installation position.
   (6) Install the quick coupler clamps (2) but do not tighten them.
   (7) Install the tank drain line (6) (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-74-400-001).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE BONDING STRAP(S) IS(ARE) CONNECTED BEFORE YOU CONNECT THE ELECTRICAL WIRE(S).
   (8) If applicable, install the bonding strap (9) as follows:
     (a) Put the bonding strap (9) in its correct installation position.
     (b) Install the bolt (10), the washer (11) and the nut (12).
     (c) Tighten the nut (12).
   (9) Do the electrical resistance measurement and the final protection of the bonding point(s)
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802):
  • Make sure that the maximum bonding value at the bonding strap (9) is not more than 20 milliohms.
   (10) Connect the connections (29) of the rinse lines.
   (11) Install the water separator (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-67-400-001).
   (12) Select the applicable new packings (28):
   (13) Apply a thin layer of Lubricant-Rubber seal Glycerin - (Material No.03PEB1) on the packings (28).
   (14) Install the packings (28) on the waste pipe ends.
   (15) Put the waste pipes (3), (4), (5), (7) and (8) in their correct installation positions.
   (16) Install the clamps (26) as follows:
     (a) Put the sleeves (27) in their correct installation positions.
     (b) Put the clamps (26) in their correct installation positions.
     (c) Install the clamps (26) and lock them.
     (d) Make sure that the clamps (26) are locked correctly:
  • The axial adjustment is not more than 6.35 mm (0.25 in.).
  • The angular misalignment is not more than +/- 4 degrees in all directions around the centerline.
   (17) Put the bracket (20) in its correct installation position.
   (18) Install the washers (19) and the screws (18).
   (19) Tighten the screws (18).
   (20) Put the clamps (23) in their correct installation positions.
   (21) Install the washers (22) and the screws (21).
   (22) Install the washers (24) and the nuts (25).
   (23) Tighten the nuts (25).
   (24) Install liquid level transmitter 40MG (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-62-400-001).
   (25) Connect the pipe (15).
   (26) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (27) Connect the electrical connectors (16) and (17).
   (28) Tighten the quick coupler clamps (2).

A. Installation of Waste Holding Tank 3300MM

   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) When you connect/install the components, refer to the match marks made during the removal procedure.
   (4) Put waste holding tank 3300MM (1) in its installation position.
   (5) Install the clamps (4) but do not tighten them.
   (6) Install the waste tank drain-line (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-74-400-001).
   (7) Connect the bonding strap:
     (a) Protect the bonding (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE BONDING STRAP(S) IS(ARE) CONNECTED BEFORE YOU CONNECT THE ELECTRICAL WIRE(S).
     (b) Put the bonding strap (5) in its installation position.
     (c) Install the bolt (19), the washer (20) and the nut (21).
   (8) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
   (9) Connect the rinse line connections (12) to the waste tank (1).
   (10) Install the water separator (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-67-400-001).
   (11) Install the waste pipes (2), (3) and (6):
     (a) Install the waste pipe (3):
       1 Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
       2 Put the waste pipe (3) in its installation position.
       3 Install the clamps (16).
       4 Install the washers (17) and the screws (18).
     (b) Connect the waste pipes (2), (3) and (6):
       1 Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
       2 Select the applicable new packings (13):
       3 Apply a thin layer of Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.03FAB1) to the new packings (13).
       4 Put the waste pipes (2) and (6) in their installation positions.
       5 Put the packings (13) and the sleeves (15) in their installation positions.
       6 Connect the waste pipes (2), (3) and (6).
       7 Install the quick-coupler clamps (14) and lock them.
       8 Make sure that the quick-coupler clamps (14) are locked correctly:
  • The axial adjustment is not more than 6.35 mm (0.25 in.).
  • The angular misalignment is not more than +/- 4 deg. in all the directions around the centerline.
   (12) Install liquid level transmitter 40MG (8) (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-62-400-001).
   (13) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
   (14) Connect the connection (7) to liquid level transmitter 40MG (8).
   (15) Connect the electrical connectors:
     (a) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
     (b) Connect the electrical connectors (9) and (11).
   (16) Tighten the clamps (4).

A. Installation of Waste Holding Tank 3300MM
F Clamp Installation Requirements ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) When you connect/install the components, refer to the match marks made during the removal procedure.
   (4) Put waste holding tank 3300MM (1) in its installation position.
   (5) Install the clamps (4) but do not tighten them.
   (6) Install the waste tank drain-line (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-74-400-001).
   (7) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
   (8) Connect the rinse line connections (12) to the waste tank (1).
   (9) Install the water separator (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-67-400-001).
   (10) Install the waste pipes (2), (3) and (6):
     (a) Install the waste pipes (3) and (6):
       1 Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
       2 Put the waste pipes (3) and (6) in their installation positions.
       3 Hold the waste pipes (3) and (6).
       4 Install the clamps (16).
       5 Install the washers (17) and the screws (18).
     (b) Connect the waste pipes (2), (3) and (6):
       1 Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
       2 Apply a thin layer of Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.03FAB1) to the new AIPC 38-31-84-32-013 PACKING (13).
       3 Put the waste pipe (2) in its installation position.
       4 Put the O-rings (13) and the sleeves (15) in their installation position.
       5 Connect the waste pipes (2), (3) and (6).
       6 Install the quick-coupler clamps (14) and lock them.
       7 Make sure that the quick-coupler clamps (14) are locked correctly:
  • The axial adjustment is not more than 6.35 mm (0.25 in.).
  • The angular misalignment is not more than +/- 4 deg. in all the directions around the centerline.
   (11) Install liquid level transmitter 40MG (8) (
Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-62-400-001).
   (12) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
   (13) Connect the connection (7) to liquid level transmitter 40MG (8).
   (14) Connect the bonding strap:
     (a) Protect the bonding (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE BONDING STRAP(S) IS(ARE) CONNECTED BEFORE YOU CONNECT THE ELECTRICAL WIRE(S).
     (b) Put the bonding strap (5) in its installation position.
     (c) Install the bolt (19), the washer (20) and the nut (21).
   (15) Connect the electrical connectors:
     (a) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
     (b) Connect the electrical connectors (9) and (11).
   (16) TORQUE the clamps (4) to between 10.16 and 9.04 m.N (89.91 and 80.00 lbf.in ) T.

C. Leak Test
   (1) Do the leak test of the vacuum toilet system (
Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-00-790-002).
   (2) Record the results of the test.
   (3) Compare the results of the leak test recorded before the removal and after the installation of the component.
   (4) Make sure that the test results recorded after the installation are not more than 10% of the test results recorded before the removal.

D. Operational Test
   (1) Operate the toilet and make sure that it flushes correctly (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-00-710-009).

A. Close Access
   (1) If you removed the insulation around the waste holding tank, install it.
   (2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (3) Install the center support strut at FR65 (Ref. AMM TASK 53-43-11-400-001).
   (4) Install partitions 161DW and 162DW (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-12-400-001).
   (5) Set cargo-compartment light switch 8LU to OFF.
   (6) Remove the access platform(s).
   (7) Close aft cargo-compartment door 826 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002) or (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-004).
