Removal of the Waste Holding Tank


WARNING: DO NOT DO WORK ON THE TOILET WASTE SYSTEM AND THE POTABLE WATER SYSTEM AT THE SAME TIME. THIS WILL PREVENT CONTAMINATION OF THE POTABLE WATER SYSTEM. SUCH CONTAMINATION CAN BE DANGEROUS TO HEALTH.
WARNING: ALWAYS USE RUBBER GLOVES WHEN YOU DO WORK:
  • ON THE TOILET WASTE SYSTEM, OR
  • ON PARTS THAT HAVE CONTAMINATION FROM THE WASTE SYSTEM.
WHEN YOU COMPLETE THE WORK PROCEDURE, CLEAN YOUR HANDS WITH SOAP AND WATER. THIS WILL PREVENT INFECTION (TOILET WASTE IS DANGEROUS FOR HEALTH).
WARNING: WHEN YOU REMOVE A COMPONENT OF THE TOILET WASTE SYSTEM, ALWAYS DISINFECT THE PART BEFORE YOU PUT IT IN A PLASTIC BAG, THEN SEAL THE BAG. DO NOT PUT DOCUMENTS INTO THE PLASTIC BAG. SEAL THE BAG FIRST,THEN ATTACH THE DOCUMENTS TO IT. THIS WILL PREVENT INFECTION OR ILLNESS. CONTAMINATION FROM THE WASTE CAN BE DANGEROUS TO HEALTH.

3. Job Set-up

A. Energize the ground service network (Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).

B. Draining, Flushing and Disinfection of Waste Holding Tank 3300MM
   (1) Drain and flush the waste holding tank (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-00-680-001).
   (2) Put 2. l (0.5283 USgal) of Deodorant-Aircraft Toilets - - (Material No.11GCA1) in each toilet bowl and flush them through.
NOTE: This procedure is to make sure that the full toilet system is disinfected.
   (3) Drain the waste holding tank again to remove the disinfectant.

C. Do the leak test of the vacuum toilet system and record the results of the test (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-00-790-002).

E. Get Access
   (1) Open aft cargo-compartment door 826 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-003).
   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position at aft cargo-compartment door 826.
   (3) Set cargo-compartment light switch 8LU to ON.
   (4) Remove partitions 161DW and 162DW (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-12-000-001).
   (5) Remove the center support strut at FR65 (Ref. AMM TASK 53-43-11-000-001).
   (6) If the insulation is installed around the waste holding tank, remove it.
4. Procedure
Subtask 38-31-61-020-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of Waste Holding Tank 3300MM
WARNING: ALWAYS WEAR RUBBER GLOVES, GOGGLES AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHES WHEN YOU DO THIS TASK.
   (1) Disconnect the electrical connectors as follows:
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
     (a) Disconnect the electrical connectors (16) and (17).
     (b) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
   (2) Remove the pipe (15) from liquid level transmitter 40MG.
   (3) Remove liquid level transmitter 40MG (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-62-000-001).
   (4) Remove the clamps (26) as follows:
     (a) Unlock and remove the clamps (26).
     (b) Move the sleeves (27) away from the clamps (26).
     (c) Remove the packings (28) and discard them.
   (5) Remove the nuts (25) and the washers (24).
   (6) Remove the screws (21) and the washers (22).
   (7) Remove the clamps (23).
   (8) Remove the screws (18) and the washers (19).
   (9) Remove the bracket (20).
   (10) Remove the waste pipes (3), (4), (5), (7) and (8).
   (11) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
   (12) Remove the water separator (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-67-000-001).
   (13) Disconnect the connections (29) of the rinse lines.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL WIRE(S) IS(ARE) DISCONNECTED BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT THE BONDING STRAP(S).
   (14) If applicable, remove the nut (12), washer (11), bolt (10) and bonding strap (9).
   (15) Remove the tank drain line (6) (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-74-000-001).
   (16) Put marks on the tank and the mounting brackets to find their correct installation positions again.
   (17) Remove the quick coupler clamps (2).
   (18) Remove waste holding tank 3300MM (1).
Subtask 38-31-61-020-053-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of Waste Holding Tank 3300MM
WARNING: ALWAYS WEAR RUBBER GLOVES, GOGGLES AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHES WHEN YOU DO THIS TASK.
   (1) Disconnect the electrical connectors:
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
     (a) Disconnect the electrical connectors (9) and (11).
     (b) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
   (2) Disconnect the bonding strap:
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL WIRE(S) IS(ARE) DISCONNECTED BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT THE BONDING STRAP(S).
     (a) Remove the nut (21), the washer (20) and the bolt (19).
     (b) Disconnect the bonding strap (5).
   (3) Remove the waste tank drain-line (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-74-000-001).
   (4) Remove the water separator (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-67-000-001).
   (5) Disconnect the rinse line connections (12) from the waste tank (1).
   (6) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
   (7) Disconnect the connection (7) from liquid level transmitter 40MG (8).
   (8) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
   (9) Remove liquid level transmitter 40MG (8) (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-62-000-001).
   (10) Make match marks on the components that you disconnect/remove to record their connections/positions. This is important for the subsequent installation procedure.
   (11) Remove the waste pipes (2), (3) and (6):
     (a) Disconnect the waste pipes (2) and (6):
       1 Unlock the quick-coupler clamps (14).
       2 Hold the waste pipes and remove the quick-coupler clamps (14).
       3 Move the sleeves (15) to one side.
       4 Remove and discard the packings (13).
     (b) Remove the waste pipe (2) and (6) from the waste tank (1).
     (c) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
     (d) Remove the waste pipe (3):
       1 Remove the screws (18) and the washers (17).
       2 Remove the clamps (16).
       3 Remove the waste pipe (3).
       4 Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
   (12) Loosen and remove the clamps (4).
   (13) Remove waste holding tank 3300MM (1).

A. Removal of Waste Holding Tank 3300MM

   (1) Disconnect the electrical connectors:
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
     (a) Disconnect the electrical connectors (9) and (11).
     (b) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
   (2) Disconnect the bonding strap:
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL WIRE(S) IS(ARE) DISCONNECTED BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT THE BONDING STRAP(S).
     (a) Remove the nut (21), the washer (20) and the bolt (19).
     (b) Disconnect the bonding strap (5).
   (3) Remove the waste tank drain-line (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-74-000-001).
   (4) Remove the water separator (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-67-000-001).
   (5) Disconnect the rinse line connections (12) from the waste tank (1).
   (6) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
   (7) Disconnect the connection (7) from liquid level transmitter 40MG (8).
   (8) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
   (9) Remove liquid level transmitter 40MG (8) (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-62-000-001).
   (10) Make match marks on the components that you disconnect/remove to record their connections/positions. This is important for the subsequent installation procedure.
   (11) Remove the waste pipes (2), (3) and (6):
     (a) Disconnect the waste pipes (2), (3) and (6):
       1 Unlock the quick-coupler clamps (14).
       2 Hold the waste pipes (2), (3) and (6) and remove the quick-coupler clamps (14).
       3 Move the sleeves (15) to one side.
       4 Remove and discard the O-rings (13).
     (b) Remove the waste pipe (2) from the waste tank (1).
     (c) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
     (d) Remove the waste pipes (3) and (6):
       1 Hold the waste pipes (3) and (6).
       2 Remove the screws (18) and the washers (17).
       3 Remove the clamps (16).
       4 Remove the waste pipes (3) and (6).
       5 Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
   (12) Loosen and remove the clamps (4).
   (13) Remove waste holding tank 3300MM (1).

   (1) If necessary, remove level sensor 41MG from waste holding tank 3300MM (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-63-000-001).
