C. Removal of the Blockage
WARNING: ALWAYS WEAR RUBBER GLOVES, GOGGLES AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHES WHEN YOU DO THIS TASK.
   (1) Make sure that the applicable container is set below the opened waste line.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE LENGTH OF THE ROD OR THE SPIRAL IS NOT MORE THAN THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE ACCESS OF THE WASTE LINE AND THE WASTE-HOLDING TANK DIVERTER. THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE WASTE-HOLDING TANK DIVERTER.
   (2) Use a CLEANING SPIRAL-FLEXIBLE-DIA 8MM(0.31INCH) or a rod to remove the blockage and the waste particles:
NOTE: Airbus recommends that you use a temporary adhesive tape along the outer contour of the waste line pipe. This is to measure the distance between the access of the waste line and the waste-holding tank diverter (6).
NOTE: Airbus recommends that you use:
  • A spiral to remove the blockage from the bent tubes, and
  • A spiral or a rod to remove the blockage from the straight tubes.
     (a) Put the spiral or the rod in waste line (1) access-area view A and carefully remove:
  • The blockage
  • The waste particles and other particles from the inner sides of the waste line (1).
     (b) Put the spiral in waste line (1) access-area view A and carefully remove the waste from tank-inlet-area view C.
   (3) Make sure that you do not cause damage to the waste line and the waste-holding tank diverter (6) when you do this work.
   (4) Remove the spiral/rod.
