D. Safety Precautions
(1) Do the leak test of the vacuum toilet system (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-00-790-002).
Subtask 38-31-00-010-075-A (1) Do the leak test of the vacuum toilet system (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-00-790-002).
NOTE: It is recommended that you compare the results of the leak test recorded before the removal and after the installation of the component of the vacuum toilet system.
E. Get Access
(1) Get access to the lavatory.
(2) It is necessary to start in the most forward lavatory.
(3) Remove the toilet shrouds as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 25-45-22-000-001).
(4) Close the water shutoff valves in the lavatories.
(5) Put warning notices in position at the toilets to tell persons not to use them.
4. Procedure(1) Get access to the lavatory.
(2) It is necessary to start in the most forward lavatory.
(3) Remove the toilet shrouds as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 25-45-22-000-001).
(4) Close the water shutoff valves in the lavatories.
(5) Put warning notices in position at the toilets to tell persons not to use them.
Subtask 38-31-00-860-052-A
A. Prepare the Waste System
(1) Prepare the toilet assemblies:
(b) Flush the toilet assemblies.
(c) Apply Disinfectant and cleaner-Aircraft general - - (Material No.11CBA1) to the toilet bowl, the flush valves and other dirty areas.
(3) Put the COVER - PLASTIC on the floor of the lavatory and the adjacent area to give protection to the floor coverings.
(4) Remove the short waste line(s) from the related waste-tank inlet port (Ref. AMM TASK 38-30-00-010-002).
(5) Clean the short waste line(s) as follows:
(a) Prepare a solution of Disinfectant-Potable Water System Hypochlorite - (Material No.11AKB1) and water as given in the table.
(b) Put the short waste line(s) in an applicable container with the solution and let it/them stay for 4 hours.
(c) After 4 hours, remove the short waste line(s) from the container.
(d) If necessary, clean the short waste line(s) with a BRUSH - BRISTLED.
(e) Flush the short waste line(s) with clean water.
Subtask 38-31-00-100-050-A (1) Prepare the toilet assemblies:
WARNING:
ALWAYS WEAR RUBBER GLOVES, GOGGLES AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHES WHEN YOU DO THIS TASK.
(a) Put 4 l (1 USgal) of Deodorant-Aircraft Toilets - - (Material No.11GCA1) in each toilet assembly. (b) Flush the toilet assemblies.
(c) Apply Disinfectant and cleaner-Aircraft general - - (Material No.11CBA1) to the toilet bowl, the flush valves and other dirty areas.
NOTE: If the toilet waste line is blocked, it is recommended that you remove the line and clean it before you do this procedure.
(2) Drain the waste holding tank (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-00-680-001). (3) Put the COVER - PLASTIC on the floor of the lavatory and the adjacent area to give protection to the floor coverings.
(4) Remove the short waste line(s) from the related waste-tank inlet port (Ref. AMM TASK 38-30-00-010-002).
(5) Clean the short waste line(s) as follows:
(a) Prepare a solution of Disinfectant-Potable Water System Hypochlorite - (Material No.11AKB1) and water as given in the table.

(c) After 4 hours, remove the short waste line(s) from the container.
(d) If necessary, clean the short waste line(s) with a BRUSH - BRISTLED.
(e) Flush the short waste line(s) with clean water.
B. Cleaning of the Toilet Waste Lines
(2) Install the removed short waste line(s) on the related waste-tank inlet port (Ref. AMM TASK 38-30-00-410-002).
(3) Disconnect only one toilet at a time.
(4) Start the procedure in the forward lavatory.
(5) Disconnect the toilet assembly from the aircraft system as follows (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-41-000-001):
(b) A high-pressure hose (10 MM (0.39 IN.) dia., 40 m (131 ft.) long-VACLAV cleaner)
(c) A spray nozzle-VACLAV cleaner with the parts that follow:
(a) Put the spray nozzle approximately 1 m (3.28 ft.) into the aircraft waste line.
(c) Slowly push the high-pressure hose into the waste line, and if necessary, apply Silicone base Grease-General Purpose - - (Material No.03JBA1) to the high-pressure hose.
(d) Flush the toilet at intervals of 30 seconds to drain the waste line.
(e) Stop the high-pressure cleaning equipment at intervals of 8 minutes to drain the waste holding tanks (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-00-680-001).
(f) When you cannot push the spray nozzle more into the waste line, do the steps that follow:
1 Stop the high-pressure water pump.
2 Remove the high-pressure hose from the waste line.
(g) If necessary, do the procedure again.
Subtask 38-31-00-410-072-A WARNING:
ALWAYS WEAR RUBBER GLOVES, GOGGLES AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHES WHEN YOU DO THIS TASK.
(1) Do the procedure in all the lavatories, one after the other.(2) Install the removed short waste line(s) on the related waste-tank inlet port (Ref. AMM TASK 38-30-00-410-002).
(3) Disconnect only one toilet at a time.
(4) Start the procedure in the forward lavatory.
(5) Disconnect the toilet assembly from the aircraft system as follows (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-41-000-001):
NOTE: It is not necessary to disconnect the electrical connectors for this procedure.
(a) Remove the shell clamp and disconnect the toilet assembly from the elbow of the main vacuum line. NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the toilet assembly.
(6) Assemble the CLEANING EQUIPMENT VACLAV - TANK, INTERN. NOTE: The high-pressure cleaning equipment has these parts:
(a) A high-pressure water pump-VACLAV cleaner (b) A high-pressure hose (10 MM (0.39 IN.) dia., 40 m (131 ft.) long-VACLAV cleaner)
(c) A spray nozzle-VACLAV cleaner with the parts that follow:
- 6 nozzles in the rear direction (0.8 MM (0.03 IN.) dia.) at an angle of 40 deg (40 deg)
- 1 nozzle in the front direction (0.8 MM (0.03 IN.) dia).
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE HOSE DOES NOT GO INTO THE WATER SEPARATOR. IF THE HOSE GOES INTO THE WATER SEPARATOR, DAMAGE TO THE WATER SEPARATOR AND THE WASTE HOLDING TANK CAN OCCUR.
(7) Clean the toilet waste lines as follows: (a) Put the spray nozzle approximately 1 m (3.28 ft.) into the aircraft waste line.
NOTE: Warm water with a maximum temperature of 60 DEG.C (140 DEG.F) will make the cleaning procedure easier.
(b) Operate the high-pressure water pump at a maximum pressure of 100 bar (1450 psi). (c) Slowly push the high-pressure hose into the waste line, and if necessary, apply Silicone base Grease-General Purpose - - (Material No.03JBA1) to the high-pressure hose.
(d) Flush the toilet at intervals of 30 seconds to drain the waste line.
(e) Stop the high-pressure cleaning equipment at intervals of 8 minutes to drain the waste holding tanks (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-00-680-001).
(f) When you cannot push the spray nozzle more into the waste line, do the steps that follow:
1 Stop the high-pressure water pump.
2 Remove the high-pressure hose from the waste line.
(g) If necessary, do the procedure again.
C. Connection of the Toilet Assemblies
(1) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
(2) Clean and dry the work area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(3) Connect the toilet assemblies (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-41-400-001):
(a) Install the new packing on the toilet assembly.
(b) Move the sleeve onto the packing.
(c) Install the new packing on the elbow of the main vacuum line.
(d) Install the shell clamp to connect the toilet assembly with the elbow of the main vacuum line.
(e) Make sure that the shell clamp is installed correctly:
Subtask 38-31-00-790-062-A (1) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
(2) Clean and dry the work area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(3) Connect the toilet assemblies (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-41-400-001):
(a) Install the new packing on the toilet assembly.
(b) Move the sleeve onto the packing.
(c) Install the new packing on the elbow of the main vacuum line.
(d) Install the shell clamp to connect the toilet assembly with the elbow of the main vacuum line.
(e) Make sure that the shell clamp is installed correctly:
- The axial adjustment is not more than 6.35 MM (0.25 IN.).
- The angular misalignment is +/- 4 degrees in all directions around the centerline.
D. Do the Leak Test of the vacuum System (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-00-790-002)
(1) If the leak test is not satisfactory, trouble shoot the system to find the leak. To get access to the waste drain lines (Ref. AMM TASK 38-30-00-010-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 38-30-00-410-002).

E. Do this Test
(1) Open the water shutoff valve in the lavatories.
(2) Do an operational test of the toilet assemblies (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-00-710-009).
