A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2) Make sure that the system potable water is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 38-10-00-614-002).
(3) Make sure that ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position in front of the applicable passenger/crew door 832 or 842.
(4) Make sure that passenger/crew door 832 or 842 is open (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-010-001).
(5) Make sure that ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) is in position at drain panel 133AL.
(6) Make sure that drain panel 133AL is open.
(7) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position in the drain panel.
(8) Make sure that ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position at service panel 2023VU.
(9) Make sure that access door 171AL of service panel 2023VU is open.
(10) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position in service panel 2023VU.
(11) Make sure that ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is in position at door 825.
(12) Make sure that forward cargo-compartment door 825 is open (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
(13) Make sure that cargo-compartment light switch 6LU is set to ON.
(14) Make sure that farward cargo-compartment, sidewall panel 131HW and floor panels 131EF 131FF 131GF are removed.
Subtask 38-14-49-865-054-A (1) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2) Make sure that the system potable water is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 38-10-00-614-002).

(8) Make sure that ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position at service panel 2023VU.
(9) Make sure that access door 171AL of service panel 2023VU is open.
(10) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position in service panel 2023VU.
(11) Make sure that ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is in position at door 825.
(12) Make sure that forward cargo-compartment door 825 is open (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
(13) Make sure that cargo-compartment light switch 6LU is set to ON.
(14) Make sure that farward cargo-compartment, sidewall panel 131HW and floor panels 131EF 131FF 131GF are removed.
B. Make sure that this(these) circuit breaker(s) is(are) open, safetied and tagged:

C. Preparation for Installation
(1) Clean the cable (9) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(2) Apply Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) to the cable (9).
4. Procedure(1) Clean the cable (9) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(2) Apply Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) to the cable (9).
Subtask 38-14-49-420-051-A
A. Install the Control Cable
(1) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(2) Put the swivel ends (12) in position.
(3) Install the washers (13) and the nuts (14).
(4) Put the rigid sleeve (15) in position.
(5) Install the hollow hex head screws (16) in the swivel ends (12) but do not tighten at this stage.
(6) Install the cable (9) in the rigid sleeve (15).
(7) At the control handle lever:
(a) Install the locknut (10) and the clevis (11) on the cable (9), but do not tighten at this stage.
(b) Put the clevis (11) in position until you can install the pin (6).
(c) Install the pin (6), the washer (5) and the new AIPC 38-14-02-03-050 COTTER PIN (4) or AIPC 38-14-82-03-080 COTTER PIN (4) on the clevis (11).
(d) Tighten the locknut (10) and safety it with 0.8 mm lockwire.
(8) Tighten the hollow hex head screws (16) in the swivel ends (12).
(9) Install the sliding end (8) counter clockwise on the cable (9).
Subtask 38-14-49-820-050-A (1) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(2) Put the swivel ends (12) in position.
(3) Install the washers (13) and the nuts (14).
(4) Put the rigid sleeve (15) in position.
(5) Install the hollow hex head screws (16) in the swivel ends (12) but do not tighten at this stage.
(6) Install the cable (9) in the rigid sleeve (15).
(7) At the control handle lever:
(a) Install the locknut (10) and the clevis (11) on the cable (9), but do not tighten at this stage.
(b) Put the clevis (11) in position until you can install the pin (6).
(c) Install the pin (6), the washer (5) and the new AIPC 38-14-02-03-050 COTTER PIN (4) or AIPC 38-14-82-03-080 COTTER PIN (4) on the clevis (11).
(d) Tighten the locknut (10) and safety it with 0.8 mm lockwire.
(8) Tighten the hollow hex head screws (16) in the swivel ends (12).
(9) Install the sliding end (8) counter clockwise on the cable (9).
B. Adjust the Control Cable
(1) In the drain panel, make sure that the control handle is in SHUT position.
(2) Hold the lever of the drain valve 4MP in the SHUT position.
(3) Adjust the sliding end (8) in position until you can install the pin (6).
(4) Make sure that you can feel or see the cable (9) through the inspection hole in the sliding end (8).
Subtask 38-14-49-420-054-A (1) In the drain panel, make sure that the control handle is in SHUT position.
(2) Hold the lever of the drain valve 4MP in the SHUT position.
(3) Adjust the sliding end (8) in position until you can install the pin (6).
(4) Make sure that you can feel or see the cable (9) through the inspection hole in the sliding end (8).
C. Install the Clevis to the Drain Valve
(1) Install the pin (6), the washer (5) and the new AIPC 38-14-02-03-050 COTTER PIN (4) or AIPC 38-14-82-03-080 COTTER PIN (4).
(2) Tighten the nut (7).
(3) Install the clamps (3), the washers (2) and the nuts (1) and tighten them.
(4) Install the tie-down strap (17).
(5) Install the lead-bonding (20).
Subtask 38-14-49-680-056-A (1) Install the pin (6), the washer (5) and the new AIPC 38-14-02-03-050 COTTER PIN (4) or AIPC 38-14-82-03-080 COTTER PIN (4).
(2) Tighten the nut (7).
(3) Install the clamps (3), the washers (2) and the nuts (1) and tighten them.
(4) Install the tie-down strap (17).
(5) Install the lead-bonding (20).
NOTE: If removed put the insulation sleeve in position.
D. Preparation for the Test
(1) If necessary, fill the potable water tank (Ref. AMM TASK 12-15-38-613-001).
(2) Pressurize the system water potable (Ref. AMM TASK 38-10-00-614-001).
Subtask 38-14-49-865-055-A (1) If necessary, fill the potable water tank (Ref. AMM TASK 12-15-38-613-001).
(2) Pressurize the system water potable (Ref. AMM TASK 38-10-00-614-001).
E. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close passenger/crew door 832 or 842 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-410-001).
(3) Close drain panel 133AL.
(4) Close access door 171AL of service panel 2023VU.
(5) In the forward cargo-compartment, install sidewall panel 131HW and floor panels 131EF 131FF 131GF.
(6) Set cargo-compartment light switch 6LU to OFF.
(7) Close forward cargo-compartment door 825 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
(8) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(9) Remove the access platform(s).
Subtask 38-14-49-862-051-A (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close passenger/crew door 832 or 842 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-410-001).
(3) Close drain panel 133AL.
(4) Close access door 171AL of service panel 2023VU.
(5) In the forward cargo-compartment, install sidewall panel 131HW and floor panels 131EF 131FF 131GF.
(6) Set cargo-compartment light switch 6LU to OFF.
(7) Close forward cargo-compartment door 825 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
(8) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(9) Remove the access platform(s).
Control Cable
