C. Get Access
(1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position in front of the applicable passenger/crew door 832 or 842.
(2) Open passenger/crew door 832 or 842 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-010-001).
(3) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position at drain panel 133AL.
(4) Open drain panel 133AL.
(5) In the drain panel, put WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to turn the control handle.
(6) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position at service panel 2023VU.
(7) Open access door 171AL of service panel 2023VU.
(8) In service panel 2023VU put the WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to turn the control handle.
(9) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position at forward cargo-compartment door 825.
(10) Open forward cargo-compartment door 825 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-003).
(11) Set cargo-compartment light switch 6LU to ON.
(12) In the forward cargo-compartment, remove sidewall panel 131HW and floor panels 131EF 131FF 131GF.
Subtask 38-14-49-865-053-A (1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position in front of the applicable passenger/crew door 832 or 842.
(2) Open passenger/crew door 832 or 842 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-010-001).
(3) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position at drain panel 133AL.
(4) Open drain panel 133AL.
(5) In the drain panel, put WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to turn the control handle.
(6) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position at service panel 2023VU.
(7) Open access door 171AL of service panel 2023VU.
(8) In service panel 2023VU put the WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to turn the control handle.
(9) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position at forward cargo-compartment door 825.
(10) Open forward cargo-compartment door 825 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-003).
(11) Set cargo-compartment light switch 6LU to ON.
(12) In the forward cargo-compartment, remove sidewall panel 131HW and floor panels 131EF 131FF 131GF.

A. Remove the Control Cable
(2) Cut the tie-down strap (17) (see detail D).
(3) Disconnect the lead-bonding
(a) Remove the nut (18), the washer (19) and disconnect the lead-bonding (20) (see detail C).
(4) At the clevis (11):
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (4), and remove the washer (5).
(b) Remove the pin (6) from the clevis (11).
(c) Remove and discard the lockwire at the locknut (10).
(d) Remove the clevis (11) and the locknut (10) from the cable (9).
(5) At the sliding end (8):
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (4), and remove the washer (5).
(b) Remove the pin (6) from the sliding end (8).
(c) Loosen the self-locking nut (7) but do not remove it.
(d) Turn the sliding end (8) clockwise and remove it from the cable (9).
(6) Pull the cable (9) cut of the rigid sleeve (15) and the swivel ends (12).
(7) Loosen the hollow hex head screws (16) at the swivel ends (12) and remove the rigid sleeve (15).
(8) Remove the nuts (14), the washers (13) and the swivel ends (12).
NOTE: If necessary remove the insulation sleeve.
(1) Remove the nuts (1), the washers (2) and the clamps (3). (2) Cut the tie-down strap (17) (see detail D).
(3) Disconnect the lead-bonding
(a) Remove the nut (18), the washer (19) and disconnect the lead-bonding (20) (see detail C).
(4) At the clevis (11):
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (4), and remove the washer (5).
(b) Remove the pin (6) from the clevis (11).
(c) Remove and discard the lockwire at the locknut (10).
(d) Remove the clevis (11) and the locknut (10) from the cable (9).
(5) At the sliding end (8):
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (4), and remove the washer (5).
(b) Remove the pin (6) from the sliding end (8).
(c) Loosen the self-locking nut (7) but do not remove it.
(d) Turn the sliding end (8) clockwise and remove it from the cable (9).
(6) Pull the cable (9) cut of the rigid sleeve (15) and the swivel ends (12).
(7) Loosen the hollow hex head screws (16) at the swivel ends (12) and remove the rigid sleeve (15).
(8) Remove the nuts (14), the washers (13) and the swivel ends (12).
