A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the ground service network is energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
   (2) Make sure that the system potable water is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 38-10-00-614-002).

B. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE is in position in front of the applicable passenger/crew door 832 or 842.
   (2) Make sure that the passenger/crew door 832 or 842 is open (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-010-001).
   (3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) is in position at the drain and overflow panel 192NB.
   (4) Make sure that the drain and overflow panel 192NB is open.
   (5) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position in the drain and overflow panel.
   (6) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position at the service panel 2023VU.
   (7) Make sure that the access door 171AL of the service panel 2023VU is open.
   (8) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position in the service panel 2023VU.
   (9) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is in position at the door 825.
   (10) Make sure that the FWD cargo-compartment door 825 is open (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
   (11) Make sure that the CARGO COMPT LIGHT switch 6LU is at ON.
   (12) Make sure that in the FWD cargo-compartment, the partition panel 132PW is removed.

4. Procedure
Subtask 38-14-48-560-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean the cable (9) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (2) Apply Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) to the cable (9).

B. Installation of the Control Cable
   (1) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Put the swivel ends (6) in position.
   (3) Install the washers (7) and the nuts (8).
   (4) Put the rigid sleeve (10) in position.
   (5) Install the hollow hex head screws (11) in the swivel ends (6) but do not tighten at this stage.
   (6) Install the cable (9) in the rigid sleeve (10).
   (7) At the control handle lever:
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (a) Install the locknut (13) and the clevis (12) on the cable (9), but do not tighten at this stage.
     (b) Put the clevis (12) in position until you can install the pin (3).
     (c) Install the pin (3), the washer (2) and the AIPC 38-14-48-01-040 COTTER PIN (1) on the clevis (12).
     (d) Tighten the locknut (13).
     (e) If the locknut (13) has a hole, safety it with 0.8 mm lockwire.
   (8) Tighten the hollow hex head screws (11) in the swivel ends (6).
   (9) Install the sliding end (5) counterclockwise on the cable (9).

C. Adjust the Control Cable
   (1) Make sure that the overflow handle (drain handle) is in the closed position.
   (2) Hold the lever of the overflow valve 8MP (drain valve 14MP) in the closed position.
   (3) Adjust the sliding end (5) in position until you can install the pin (3).
   (4) Make sure that you can feel or see the cable (9) through the inspection hole in the sliding end (5).

E. Pressurize the system water potable (Ref. AMM TASK 38-10-00-614-001).

F. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

1.At the drain and overflow panel:

  • Operate the overflow handle (drain handle) from the closed to the open position.

In the potable water system:

  • The lever of the overflow valve 8MP (drain valve 14MP) moves from the closed to the open position.

  • The motorized overflow valve 8MP (motorized drain valve 14MP) opens.

    At the service panel 2023VU:

  • The overflow valve control light 6MP (drain valve control light 12MP) comes on.
  • Operate the overflow handle (drain handle) from the open to the closed position.

In the potable water system:

  • The lever of the overflow valve 8MP (drain valve 14MP) moves from the open to the closed position.

  • The motorized overflow valve 8MP (motorized drain valve 14MP) closes.

    At the service panel 2023VU:

  • The overflow valve control light 6MP (drain valve control light 12MP) goes off.
5. Close-up

A. Do the servicing of the potable water system (Ref. AMM TASK 12-15-38-613-001).

B. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the passenger/crew door 832 or 842 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-410-001).
   (3) Close the drain and overflow panel 192NB.
   (4) Close the access door 171AL of the service panel 2023VU.
   (5) In the FWD cargo-compartment, install the partition panel 132PW.
   (6) Set the CARGO COMPT LIGHT switch 6LU to OFF.
   (7) Close the FWD cargo-compartment door 825 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
   (8) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (9) Remove the access platform(s).

C. De-energize the ground service network (Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-862-001).
