4. Procedure
Subtask 36-22-18-210-050-A
A. Inspection before Installation
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Check that the sensing element is not damaged (flat or nicked).
   (3) Check the threaded section of the connector and the socket for the correct condition. Make sure that the center pin of the connector is free of corrosion and distortion.
   (4) Check the clamp for the correct condition. Make sure that it is correctly attached to the structure and can be correctly locked.
   (5) Inspect the spacers for damage.
   (6) For the overheat sensing elements 33HF/60HF between the FR39 and FR40:
  • Make sure that the material of the spacer is teflon. If it is an aluminum spacer, install a teflon spacer.
   (7) Install the retained grommet on the sensing element.
Subtask 36-22-18-420-051-A
CAUTION: REMOVE OR INSTALL THE SENSING ELEMENTS CAREFULLY. DO NOT TWIST, BEND OR CAUSE KINKS IN THE SENSING ELEMENTS. IF YOU DO, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THEM.
B. Installation of the Overheat Sensing Elements
NOTE: The installation procedure for all sensing elements of the leak detection system (double loop 125 degree C) is the same.
NOTE: For detailed descriptions of the installation procedure, refer to AMM TASK 36-22-18-200-001.
   (1) Put the sensing element in the correct position to the given routing.
   (2) Put the grommet (8) in the clamp position on the sensing element.
   (3) Install the sensing element with the attached grommet (8) to the clamp (7).
NOTE: The slot of the grommet must be on the opposite to the camloc of the clamp.
   (4) Close the clamp (7) and tighten the camloc (6).
   (5) Remove the blanking cap from the electrical connector and the socket (4).
   (6) Install the socket (4) of the sensing element to the bracket (5).
   (7) Install the retained washer (3) and the retaining nut (2).
   (8) TORQUE the retaining nut (2) to between 0.69 and 0.58 m.daN (61.06 and 51.33 lbf.in ) T.
   (9) Install the union nut (1) to the socket (4).
   (10) TORQUE the socket (4) to between 0.69 and 0.58 m.daN (61.06 and 51.33 lbf.in )
T.
   (11) Safety the socket (4), the retaining nut (2) and the union nut (1) with lockwire, corrosion-resistant steel dia 0.63mm (0.0248 in.).
