4. Procedure
Subtask 36-22-18-220-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Inspection of the Overheat Sensing Elements
   (1) Make sure that the clearance between the sensing elements and the duct is approximately 12.7 mm (0.5000 in.) minimum, measured over the full length of the sensing element.
   (2) Do an inspection of the elements to make sure that they are installed outside of the insulation.
   (3) Make sure that the clearance between the elements and the duct insulation is the same as at the mounting brackets.
   (4) Make sure that the sensing elements are installed to the permitted tolerance.
   (5) Make sure that each clamp has a silicon rubber grommet.
   (6) Make sure that each mounting bracket that is installed directly to the duct has a spacer.
   (7) For the overheat sensing elements 33HF/60HF between the FR39 and FR40:
  • Make sure that the material of the spacer is teflon.
  • If it is an aluminum spacer, install a teflon spacer.
   (8) Make sure that the elements are installed correctly.
   (9) Make sure that each mounting and clamp is not damaged and has no corrosion.
   (10) Make sure that the bonding straps are correctly installed (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (11) Make sure that the lockwires are correctly installed on the connection of the sensing elements.
   (12) Make sure that the duct insulation is not damaged and correctly installed.
   (13) Make sure that the sensing elements have not cracks, nicks, shaprs, bonds chafing or corrosion.
5. Close-up
Subtask 36-22-18-410-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install the access panels as necessary:
     (a) For the overheat sensing elements between FR35 and FR36:
     (b) For the overheat sensing elements between FR36 and FR42 LH:
  • Install the access panel 191JB.
     (c) For the overheat sensing elements between FR34 and FR42 RH:
     (d) For the overheat sensing elements between FR42 and FR50:
   (3) For the overheat sensing elements between the FR46 and FR49:
     (a) Install the partition panel:
       1 Between the FR46 and FR47:
       2 Between the FR47 and FR49:
  • Install the access panel 151CW.
     (b) Close the AFT cargo compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
