Removal of the Overheat Sensing Elements
WARNING:
PUT THE SAFETY DEVICES AND THE WARNING NOTICES IN POSITION BEFORE YOU START A TASK ON OR NEAR:
- THE FLIGHT CONTROLS
- THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES
- THE LANDING GEAR AND THE RELATED DOORS
- COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.

(2) Install the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION on the flap/slat control lever on panel 114VU.

D. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position in the zone 522(622).
(2) Remove the applicable access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 57-41-37-000-003), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-41-37-000-004), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-41-37-000-006):

D. Get Access
(1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable access panels.
(2) Remove the applicable access panels:
(a) FOR [26HF] (SNSG ELEM-OVHT, L WING LOOP A), [53HF] (SNSG ELEM-OVHT, L WING LOOP B)
4. Procedure(1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable access panels.
(2) Remove the applicable access panels:
(a) FOR [26HF] (SNSG ELEM-OVHT, L WING LOOP A), [53HF] (SNSG ELEM-OVHT, L WING LOOP B)
- 522AT (Ref. AMM TASK 57-41-37-000-003)
- 522YB and 522CB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-41-37-000-004)
- 522EB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-41-37-000-012)
- 522FB (Ref. AMM TASK 57-41-37-000-006).
Subtask 36-22-16-020-053-A
A. Removal of the Overheat Sensing Elements 26HF(42HF) and 53HF(69HF)
(2) At the pylon outboard closing-rib:
(a) Remove and discard the lockwire from the connectors (19) and (22) and the nuts (20).
(b) Disconnect the connector (19) from the connector (22).
(c) Remove the nut (20) from the connector (22) and remove the connector (22) from the flanged attachment (21).
(3) At the outboard telescope-rib:
(a) Remove and discard the lockwire from the connectors (19), (22) and (24) and the nut (20).
(b) Disconnect the connectors (19) and (24) from the connectors (22) and (23).
(c) Remove the nut (20) from the connectors (22) and (23).
(d) Remove the connectors (22) and (23) from the flanged attachment (21).
(4) Put blanking caps on the disconnected connectors (19), (22), (23) and (24).
(5) Remove the applicable overheat sensing element (14) or (17), and retain the applicable grommets (37).
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
CAUTION:
REMOVE OR INSTALL THE SENSING ELEMENTS CAREFULLY. DO NOT TWIST, BEND OR CAUSE KINKS IN THE SENSING ELEMENTS. IF YOU DO, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THEM.
(1) Release the quick-release fasteners (27) and open the clamps (25). Retain the protective sleeves (26). (2) At the pylon outboard closing-rib:
(a) Remove and discard the lockwire from the connectors (19) and (22) and the nuts (20).
(b) Disconnect the connector (19) from the connector (22).
(c) Remove the nut (20) from the connector (22) and remove the connector (22) from the flanged attachment (21).
(3) At the outboard telescope-rib:
(a) Remove and discard the lockwire from the connectors (19), (22) and (24) and the nut (20).
(b) Disconnect the connectors (19) and (24) from the connectors (22) and (23).
(c) Remove the nut (20) from the connectors (22) and (23).
(d) Remove the connectors (22) and (23) from the flanged attachment (21).
(4) Put blanking caps on the disconnected connectors (19), (22), (23) and (24).
(5) Remove the applicable overheat sensing element (14) or (17), and retain the applicable grommets (37).
