(2) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the slat controls.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Extend the slats fully (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-004).
(2) Install the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION on the flap/slat control lever on panel 114VU.
Subtask 36-22-16-865-050-A (1) Extend the slats fully (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-004).
(2) Install the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION on the flap/slat control lever on panel 114VU.

D. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable access panels.
(2) Remove the applicable access panels, (Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-13-000-002), (Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-11-000-001), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-41-37-000-004), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-41-37-000-005):

4. Procedure(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable access panels.
(2) Remove the applicable access panels, (Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-13-000-002), (Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-11-000-001), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-41-37-000-004), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-41-37-000-005):

A. Removal of the Overheat Sensing Elements
(a) Release the quick-release fasteners (27) and open the clamps (25). Retain the protective sleeves (26).
(b) Remove and discard the lockwire from the connectors (19) and (22) and the nut (20).
(c) Disconnect the connector (19) from the connector (22).
(d) Remove the nut (20) from the connector (22).
(e) Remove the connector (22) from the flanged attachment (21).
(f) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(g) Remove a sufficient amount of the cables 21HF(37HF) (40) and 77HF(64HF) (44) (Ref. AMM TASK 36-22-16-000-002) to let you remove the overheat sensing element 56HF(72HF) (8).
(2) Remove the sensing elements 83HF(82HF) (2) and 81HF(80HF) (7):
(a) Release the quick-release fasteners (27) and open the clamps (25). Retain the protective sleeves (26).
(b) Remove and discard the lockwire from the connectors (19), (22), (23) and (24), and the nuts (20).
(c) Disconnect the connectors (19) and (24) from the connectors (22) and (23).
(d) Remove the nut (20) from the connectors (22) and (23).
(e) Remove the connectors (22) and (23) from the flanged attachment (21).
(f) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(g) Remove a sufficient amount of the cables 21HF(37HF) (40) and 77HF(64HF) (44) (Ref. AMM TASK 36-22-16-000-002) to let you remove the overheat sensing element 81HF(80HF) (7).
(3) Remove the applicable overheat sensing element (1), (2), (7) or (8).
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
CAUTION:
REMOVE OR INSTALL THE SENSING ELEMENTS CAREFULLY. DO NOT TWIST, BEND OR CAUSE KINKS IN THE SENSING ELEMENTS. IF YOU DO, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THEM.
(1) Remove the sensing elements 29HF(45HF) (1) and 56HF(72HF) (8): (a) Release the quick-release fasteners (27) and open the clamps (25). Retain the protective sleeves (26).
(b) Remove and discard the lockwire from the connectors (19) and (22) and the nut (20).
(c) Disconnect the connector (19) from the connector (22).
(d) Remove the nut (20) from the connector (22).
(e) Remove the connector (22) from the flanged attachment (21).
(f) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(g) Remove a sufficient amount of the cables 21HF(37HF) (40) and 77HF(64HF) (44) (Ref. AMM TASK 36-22-16-000-002) to let you remove the overheat sensing element 56HF(72HF) (8).
(2) Remove the sensing elements 83HF(82HF) (2) and 81HF(80HF) (7):
(a) Release the quick-release fasteners (27) and open the clamps (25). Retain the protective sleeves (26).
(b) Remove and discard the lockwire from the connectors (19), (22), (23) and (24), and the nuts (20).
(c) Disconnect the connectors (19) and (24) from the connectors (22) and (23).
(d) Remove the nut (20) from the connectors (22) and (23).
(e) Remove the connectors (22) and (23) from the flanged attachment (21).
(f) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(g) Remove a sufficient amount of the cables 21HF(37HF) (40) and 77HF(64HF) (44) (Ref. AMM TASK 36-22-16-000-002) to let you remove the overheat sensing element 81HF(80HF) (7).
(3) Remove the applicable overheat sensing element (1), (2), (7) or (8).
