B. Safety Precautions
   (1) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (2) On AIR COND panel 30VU:
  • Make sure that the ENG 1(2) BLEED pushbutton switch is released (the OFF legend is on).
  • Make sure that the APU BLEED pushbutton switch is released (the ON legend is off).
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the pneumatic system.
   (3) On ENG panel 115VU:
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start the engine 1(2).
   (4) On the HP ground connector:
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the pneumatic system.
   (5) On the ENG section of the maintenance panel 50VU:
  • Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR 1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

4. Procedure
Subtask 36-11-54-750-052-A
A. Manual Test of the Fan Air Valve and Rod Assembly
   (1) Make sure that the rod (2) is attached to the fan air valve-body.
   (2) Loosen and remove the screw (1) from the rod (2) of the fan air-valve actuator.
   (3) Make sure that the valve butterfly moves freely.
  • With your hand, push the rod (2) to fully open the fan air-valve body.
  • Then pull the rod (2) to fully close the fan air-valve body.
   (4) Put the rod (2) in position on the fan air-valve actuator to install the screw (1).
   (5) TORQUE the screw (1) to between 0.38 and 0.312 m.daN (33.63 and 27.61 lbf.in ) T.

C. Functional Test of the Fan Air Valve with the 98D36109001000 TEST SET-EBAS,BLEED
   (1) Do this test:

1.On the AIR SOURCE 3 BAR (43.5 PSI) - REGULATED, FILTERED, DRY:
  • Open the shutoff valve.
On the AIR SOURCE 3 BAR (43.5 PSI) - REGULATED, FILTERED, DRY:
  • The cylinder pressure gage shows the pressure.
2.On the AIR SOURCE 3 BAR (43.5 PSI) - REGULATED, FILTERED, DRY:
  • Use the primary regulator to pressurize to 20 psi (1.4 bar).
On the AIR SOURCE 3 BAR (43.5 PSI) - REGULATED, FILTERED, DRY:
  • The primary gage shows 20 psi (1.4 bar).
3.On the 98D36109001000 TEST SET-EBAS,BLEED:
  • Slowly pressurize the system to 15 +1 psi or -1 psi (1.03 +0.07 bar or -0.07 bar).
On the 98D36109001000 TEST SET-EBAS,BLEED:
  • The digital pressure gage shows 15 +1 psi or -1 psi (1.03 +0.07 bar or -0.07 bar).
On the fan air-valve rod (2):
  • Do a check of the correct position of the rod.
NOTE: The FAV butterfly is in the OPEN position when the actuator is fully extended and the lever locking hole are not aligned with the locking hole of the FAV body.
On the fan air-valve body:
  • Do a check of the visual position indicator.
  • The valve must open in less than 4 seconds.
4.On the 98D36109001000 TEST SET-EBAS,BLEED:
  • Depressurize the system.
On the 98D36109001000 TEST SET-EBAS,BLEED:
  • The digital pressure gage shows 0 psi (0.00 bar).
On the fan air-valve rod:
  • Do a check of the correct position of the rod.
NOTE: The FAV butterfly is in CLOSED position when the locking hole of the lever and the locking hole of the FAV body are aligned, and the locking pin can be installed.
On the fan air-valve body:
  • Do a check of the visual position indicator.
  • The valve must close in less than 4 seconds.
5.Depressurize the AIR SOURCE 3 BAR (43.5 PSI) - REGULATED, FILTERED, DRY and close the shut off valve.

D. Disconnection of the Test Set
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU CONNECT/DISCONNECT THE TEST SET TO/FROM THE EQUIPMENT. THE PRESSURE REGULATING VALVE AND THE PRESSURE GAGE ASSEMBLY OF THE TEST SET ARE HEAVY AND CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
   (1) Close the shutoff valve, the purge valve and the pressure regulator valve on the 98D36109001000 TEST SET-EBAS,BLEED.
   (2) Disconnect the short hose from the adaptor assembly.
   (3) Remove the adaptor assembly from the sense line port of the FAV.
   (4) Remove the blanking plug from the sense line.
   (5) Install the sense line in the sense line port of the FAV.
   (6) TORQUE the nut of the sense line to between 1.7 and 1.5 m.daN (12.54 and 11.06 lbf.ft ) T.

   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Close the right thrust reverser doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-806):
