A. Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002) or (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).

B. Safety Precautions
(1) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(2) On AIR COND panel 30VU:

Make sure that the ENG 1(2) BLEED pushbutton switch is released (OFF legend on).
Make sure that the APU BLEED pushbutton switch is released (ON legend off).
Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the pneumatic system.

(3) Do the procedure to prevent engine motoring
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833).
(4) On access door 191DB, on the HP ground connector:

Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the pneumatic system.

(5) On FLAPS panel 114VU:
(a) Put the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION in position on the flap/slat control lever (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-480-002).
(6) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) on the flap/slat control lever to tell persons not to operate the flap/slat controls.
(7) Put on and attach a 98L12003001000 HARNESS,SAFETY before you start work in the work area (Ref. AMM TASK 12-00-00-481-002).

(1) Remove the forward thrust-reverser-hinge access-panels (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-06-000-801):

(2) Loosen the bolt (18) of the FAV rod (17), through the forward right hinge-access-panels.
(3) Loosen the bolt (6) of the scoop rod (8), through the forward left hinge-access-panels.

E. Get Access
(1) Remove the access platform(s).
(2) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):

F. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Maintenance

WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.

(1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

G. Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):
(1) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

(3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position below the engine.

4. Procedure
Subtask 36-11-54-020-067-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Prepare for the Removal of the FAV Scoop
(1) If you use the APU to energize the electrical circuits, stop the APU:

For GTCP 36-300 APU (Ref. AMM D/O 49-00-00-86)
For APS 3200 (Ref. AMM D/O 49-00-00-86)
For 131-9(A) APU (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-009).

(2) In the cockpit, on the SD bleed page:
(a) Make sure that the pressure and the temperature of the bleed-air duct system are in ambient conditions.

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM IS DEPRESSURIZED BEFORE YOU START WORK. PRESSURIZED AIR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL.

WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE UNIT UNTIL IT IS SUFFICIENTLY COOL TO PREVENT BURNS WHEN YOU DO THE MAINTENANCE TASK(S).

(3) Remove the bolt (13), washer (14), nut (16) and the bonding strap (15) from the FAV (1).
(4) Remove the bolt (6), washers (3), nut (2) and the bushing (5) from the bracket (4).

NOTE: You can get access to the below part of the left side of the thrust reverser to remove the bolt (6), washers (3), nut (2) and the bushing (5) from the bracket (4) more easily.

(5) Disengage the scoop rod (8) from the bracket (4).

NOTE: You can get access to the below part of the left side of the thrust reverser to disengage the scoop rod (8) from the bracket (4) more easily.

(6) Remove the bolts (11) and the washers (10) from the scoop (9).
(7) Remove the bolt (18) from the FAV (1).

NOTE: The plate (19) stays attached to the FAV (1) with a metal link.

(8) Disengage the FAV actuator rod (20) from the FAV rod (17).

B. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the thrust reverser doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-802):

D. Removal of the FAV Scoop
(1) Remove the precooler exchanger (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-42-000-802).
(2) Remove the bleed-air precooler-exchanger inlet (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-44-000-802).
(3) Remove the FAV (1) and scoop (9):
(a) Carefully disengage the FAV (1) from the pin holes (21).
(b) Remove the FAV (1) and scoop (9) at the same time through the precooler fairing.
(4) Disassemble the FAV (1) and scoop (9):
(a) Remove the clamp (24) from the FAV (1) and the scoop (9).
(b) Remove and discard the seal (23).
