Removal of the Fan Air Valve (FAV)

MAKE SURE THAT THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM IS DEPRESSURIZED BEFORE YOU START WORK. PRESSURIZED AIR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE AFTER SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE CAN STAY HOT FOR A LONG TIME. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, INJURY CAN OCCUR.
WARNING:
ALWAYS USE APPLICABLE GLOVES TO TOUCH HOT PARTS. HOT PARTS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.

A. Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002) or (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).

B. Safety Precautions
(1) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(2) On AIR COND panel 30VU:
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833).
(4) On the access door 191DB, on the HP ground connector:
(a) Put the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION in position on the flap/slat control lever (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-480-002).
(6) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) on the flap/slat control lever to tell persons not to operate the flap/slat controls.
Subtask 36-11-54-865-067-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(2) On AIR COND panel 30VU:
- Make sure that the ENG 1(2) BLEED pushbutton switch is released (OFF legend on).
- Make sure that the APU BLEED pushbutton switch is released (ON legend off).
- Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the pneumatic system.
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833).
(4) On the access door 191DB, on the HP ground connector:
- Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the pneumatic system.
(a) Put the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION in position on the flap/slat control lever (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-480-002).
(6) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) on the flap/slat control lever to tell persons not to operate the flap/slat controls.
C. Open, safety and tag this(these) circuit breaker(s):

E. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Maintenance
Subtask 36-11-54-010-075-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). F. Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

G. Get Access
(1) Remove access door:

Subtask 36-11-54-020-061-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the FAV
(1) If you use the APU to energize the electrical circuits, stop the APU:
(a) Make sure that the pressure and the temperature of the bleed-air duct system are in ambient conditions.
(4) Remove the bolt (2), the plate (3) from the FAV actuator (1) and the FAV actuator rod (4).
(6) Remove the nut (6), washer (7), bolt (10), washer (7) and bushing (9) from the bracket (8).
(9) Disassemble the FAV (5) and the scoop (13):
(a) Remove the clamp (27) from the FAV (5) and the scoop (13).
(b) Remove and discard the seal (26).
(10) Remove the bolt (22) from the FAV (5).
(12) Remove the FAV (5) from the structure (11):
(a) Carefully disengage the FAV (5) from the pin holes (24) and the bleed-air precooler-exchanger cold-inlet (28).
(1) If you use the APU to energize the electrical circuits, stop the APU:
- For GTCP 36-300 APU (Ref. AMM D/O 49-00-00-86)
- For APS 3200 (Ref. AMM D/O 49-00-00-86)
- For 131-9(A) APU (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-009).
(a) Make sure that the pressure and the temperature of the bleed-air duct system are in ambient conditions.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM IS DEPRESSURIZED BEFORE YOU START WORK. PRESSURIZED AIR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
WARNING:
DO NOT TOUCH THE UNIT UNTIL IT IS SUFFICIENTLY COOL TO PREVENT BURNS WHEN YOU DO THE MAINTENANCE TASK(S).
(3) Carefully remove the nut (20), bonding strap (19), bolt (17) and washer (18) from the FAV (5).(4) Remove the bolt (2), the plate (3) from the FAV actuator (1) and the FAV actuator rod (4).
NOTE: The plate (3) stays attached to the FAV actuator (1).
(5) Disengage the FAV actuator rod (4) from the FAV actuator (1).(6) Remove the nut (6), washer (7), bolt (10), washer (7) and bushing (9) from the bracket (8).
NOTE: You can get access to the below part of the left side of the thrust reverser to remove the nut (6), washer (7), bolt (10), washer (7) and bushing (9) from the bracket (8) more easily.
(7) Disengage the scoop rod (12) from the bracket (8). NOTE: You can get access to the below part of the left side of the thrust reverser to disengage the scoop rod (12) from the bracket (8) more easily.
(8) Remove the bolts (15) and the washers (14) from the scoop (13). (9) Disassemble the FAV (5) and the scoop (13):
(a) Remove the clamp (27) from the FAV (5) and the scoop (13).
(b) Remove and discard the seal (26).
(10) Remove the bolt (22) from the FAV (5).
NOTE: The plate (23) stays attached to the FAV (5) with a metal link.
(11) Disengage the FAV actuator rod (4) from the FAV rod (21). (12) Remove the FAV (5) from the structure (11):
(a) Carefully disengage the FAV (5) from the pin holes (24) and the bleed-air precooler-exchanger cold-inlet (28).
