4. Procedure
Subtask 36-11-53-750-051-A
A. Manual Test of the Overpressure Valve
   (1) On the OPV position indicator, record the position of the valve butterfly.
   (2) Make sure that the valve butterfly moves freely.
  • On the position indicator, use a WRENCH - STANDARD to fully open and fully close the valve butterfly.
  • Put the valve butterfly in the initial position that you recorded.

B. Preparation for the Functional Test
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU CONNECT/DISCONNECT THE TEST SET TO/FROM THE EQUIPMENT. THE PRESSURE REGULATING VALVE AND THE PRESSURE GAGE ASSEMBLY OF THE TEST SET ARE HEAVY AND CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
   (1) Removal of the lockwire.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (a) Cut and discard the lockwire from the blanking plug on the test port.
   (2) Remove the blanking plug from the test port of the overpressure valve.
   (3) Connect manually the adaptor assembly with the short hose to the test port.
   (4) Close the shutoff valve, the purge valve and the pressure regulator valve on the 98D36109001000 TEST SET-EBAS,BLEED.
NOTE: If the air cylinder has a regulator valve, it is not necessary to install the primary regulator valve supplied with the test set.
   (5) Connect manually the AIR SOURCE - REGULATED, FILTERED, DRY to the 98D36109001000 TEST SET-EBAS,BLEED.
   (6) Set the digital pressure gage back to zero.

C. Functional Test of the Overpressure Valve with the Engine Bleed System Test Set
   (1) Do this test:
ACTION
RESULT
1.On the AIR SOURCE - REGULATED, FILTERED, DRY:
  • Open the shutoff valve.
On the AIR SOURCE - REGULATED, FILTERED, DRY:
  • The cylinder pressure gage shows the pressure.
2.On the AIR SOURCE - REGULATED, FILTERED, DRY:
  • Use the primary regulator to pressurize to 100 psi (6.89 bar).
On the AIR SOURCE - REGULATED, FILTERED, DRY:
  • The primary gage shows 100 psi (6.89 bar).
3.On the 98D36109001000 TEST SET-EBAS,BLEED:
  • Use the pressure regulator valve to slowly pressurize the system to 95 psi (6.55 bar).
On the OPV:
  • Make sure that the visual position indicator shows that the OPV is closed.
4.On the 98D36109001000 TEST SET-EBAS,BLEED:
  • Slowly depressurize the system to open the overpressure valve.
On the 98D36109001000 TEST SET-EBAS,BLEED, read the pressure gage:
  • When the pressure is less than 70 psi (4.8 bar), the visual position indicator shows that OPV is open.
5.On the 98D36109001000 TEST SET-EBAS,BLEED:
  • Depressurize the system to 0 psi (0.0000 bar).
On the OPV, the visual position indicator shows OPEN.
6.Depressurize the AIR SOURCE - REGULATED, FILTERED, DRY, and close the shutoff valve.

5. Close-up
