Subtask 36-11-53-480-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Connection of the Test Set
   (1) Disconnect the electrical connector from the overpressure valve.
NOTE: Airbus recommends you to do the check of the electrical continuity on the microswitch.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (2) Cut and discard the lockwire.
   (3) Remove the blanking plug from the test port of the overpressure valve.
   (4) Use a small axle to operate the test port inlet-clapper for some cycles to remove the clapper.
NOTE: You can use all the applicable axles when:
  • It is not necessary to apply force to put them into the test port, as the diameter of the test port is lower than 5 MM (0.197 IN.) (to prevent damage to the port) and
  • There is no sharp edge (to prevent damage to the clapper).
   (5) Close the shutoff valve, the purge valve and the pressure regulator valve on the test set.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE PRESSURE SUPPLIED TO BLEED TEST SET 98L36103002000 NEVER EXCEEDS 217 PSI (15 BAR). IF THE PRESSURE SUPPLIED TO THE BLEED TEST SET EXCEEDS THIS VALUE, THERE IS A RISK OF INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT. IF THE AIR CYLINDER DOES NOT HAVE A MANOMETER INSTALLED, YOU MUST INSTALL THE PRIMARY REGULATOR VALVE BETWEEN THE AIR BOTTLE AND BLEED TEST SET 98L36103002000. THE PRIMARY REGULATOR VALVE WILL LIMIT THE PRESSURE IN THE BLEED TEST SET TO 217 PSI (15 BAR).
   (6) Connect an air cylinder to the 98L36103002000 TEST SET - ENGINE BLEED.
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU CONNECT/DISCONNECT THE TEST SET TO/FROM THE EQUIPMENT. THE PRESSURE REGULATING VALVE AND THE PRESSURE GAGE ASSEMBLY OF THE TEST SET ARE HEAVY AND CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
   (7) Connect the 98L36103002000 TEST SET - ENGINE BLEED with the short-bend flexible assembly to the test port of the overpressure valve.
   (8) Do a reset of the digital pressure gage.
   (9) Make sure that the regulator valve of the test set is closed before you pressurize the system.

B. Do this Test
NOTE: The pressure value given in this test is applicable only to P/N 6740B01XXXX. Because the valves are interchangeable, it is necessary to do a check of the valve reference before the test. If the P/N reference is different from P/N 6740B01XXXX, refer to Para. C, D, E, F or G.
ACTION
RESULT
1.Pressurize the test set:
  • If there is a manometer in the air cylinder then the installation of the primary regulator valve is not necessary. Use the air cylinder shut off valve and the manometer to slowly pressurize the test set to 120 psig (8.27 bar rel.).
  • If there is no manometer in the air cylinder then the installation of primary regulator valve is mandatory. In this case the primary regulator valve will limit the pressure in the test set to 217 psig (14.96 bar rel.).

2.When you do the functional test for first time, apply a higher pressure than 110 psi (7.58 bar) to take off the clapper.

3.On the test set:
  • Open the shutoff valve.
  • Use the pressure regulator valve of the test set to slowly pressurize the system to 90 psig (6.21 bar rel.).
On the overpressure valve (5HA):
  • The visual position indicator shows that the valve is fully closed when the pressure is more than 55 psig (3.79 bar rel.).
4.On the overpressure valve:
  • do a check of the electrical continuity between pin 2 and pin 3 of the electrical connector with an OHMMETER MULTIRANGE.
On the OHMMETER MULTIRANGE:
  • There is electrical continuity between pin 2 and pin 3 of the electrical connector.
NOTE: Electrical continuity between pin 2 and pin 3 of the electrical connector shows that the overpressure valve position agrees with the microswitch position (CLOSED).
NOTE: Read the pressure on the digital pressure gage.
NOTE: Read the pressure on the digital pressure gage.
5.On the test set:
  • Use the pressure regulator valve of the test set to slowly depressurize the system to open the overpressure valve.
On the overpressure valve (5HA):
  • The visual position indicator shows that the overpressure valve is open when the pressure is equal to or more than 34.95 psig (2.41 bar rel.).
NOTE: Read the pressure on the digital pressure gage.
6.On the overpressure valve:
  • do a check of the electrical continuity between pin 1 and pin 2 of the electrical connector with an OHMMETER MULTIRANGE.
On the OHMMETER MULTIRANGE:
  • There is electrical continuity between pin 1 and pin 2 of the electrical connector.
NOTE: Electrical continuity between pin 1 and pin 2 of the electrical connector shows that the overpressure valve position agrees with the microswitch position (OPEN).
7.On the test set:
  • Use the pressure regulator valve to decrease the pressure of the system to 0 psig (0.00 bar rel.).
On the overpressure valve (5HA):
  • The visual position indicator shows that the valve is fully open.

  • If there is a pressure gage in the air cylinder then the installation of the primary regulator valve is not necessary. Use the air cylinder shutoff valve and the pressure gage to slowly pressurize the test set to 120 psig (8.27 bar rel.).
  • If there is no pressure gage in the air cylinder then the installation of the primary regulator valve is mandatory. The primary regulator valve will keep the pressure in the test set to a maximum of 217 psig (14.96 bar rel.).

2.When you do the functional test for the first time, apply a pressure of more than 110 psi (7.58 bar) to take off the clapper.

3.On the test set:
  • Open the shutoff valve.
  • Use the pressure regulator valve of the test set to slowly pressurize the system to 95 psig (6.55 bar rel.).
On the overpressure valve:
  • The visual position indicator shows that the valve is fully closed when the pressure is between 80 psig (5.52 bar rel.) and 89.2 psig (6.15 bar rel.).
NOTE: The electrical continuity between pin 2 and pin 3 of the electrical connector shows that the overpressure valve position agrees with the microswitch position (CLOSED).
5.On the test set:
  • Use the pressure regulator valve of the test set to slowly depressurize the system to open the overpressure valve.
On the overpressure valve:
  • The visual position indicator shows that the overpressure valve is fully open when the pressure is between 50 psig (3.45 bar rel.) and 70 psig (4.83 bar rel.).
NOTE: The electrical continuity between pin 1 and pin 2 of the electrical connector shows that the overpressure valve position agrees with the microswitch position (OPEN).
7.On the test set:
  • Use the pressure regulator valve of the test set to decrease the pressure of the system to 0 psig (0.00 bar rel.).
On the overpressure valve:
  • The visual position indicator shows that the valve is fully open.
