WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM IS DEPRESSURIZED BEFORE YOU START WORK. PRESSURIZED AIR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

B. Safety Precautions
(1) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.

NOTE: To prevent damage to the thermostat, we recommend that you wait until it is at the ambient temperature before you start the work.
(2) On the AIR COND panel 30VU: - make sure that the ENG 1(2) BLEED pushbutton switch is released (the OFF legend is on),
- make sure that the APU BLEED pushbutton switch is released (the ON legend is off),
- put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to operate the pneumatic system.
- put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine 1(2).
- Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to pressurize the pneumatic system.
- make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR 1(2) pushbutton switch is off,
- put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

D. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) in position below the engine.
(2) Remove the access panels:

D. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) in position below the engine.
(2) Remove the access panels:
(a) FOR [7170HM1] (THERMOSTAT-FAN AIR VALVE CTL)

(b) FOR [7170HM2] (THERMOSTAT-FAN AIR VALVE CTL)

4. Procedure(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) in position below the engine.
(2) Remove the access panels:

(1) If you use the APU to energize the electrical circuits, stop the APU:
(a) Make sure that the pressure and the temperature of the bleed-air duct system are in ambient conditions.
(4) Use a SOCKET DIA 1/2 IN (12.7 MM) to loosen and remove the filter (4).
(5) If the filter is dirty, clean the filter (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-43-100-001), or replace it with a new or a clean filter (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-43-000-003) and (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-43-400-003).
(6) Remove and discard the seal (2).
(7) Put a PLUG - BLANKING on the opening of the thermostat (3).

(a) Make sure that the pressure and the temperature of the bleed-air duct system are in ambient conditions.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM IS DEPRESSURIZED BEFORE YOU START WORK. PRESSURIZED AIR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
WARNING:
DO NOT TOUCH THE UNIT UNTIL IT IS SUFFICIENTLY COOL TO PREVENT BURNS WHEN YOU DO THE MAINTENANCE TASK(S).
WARNING:
USE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(3) Remove and discard the lockwire from the filter (4). (4) Use a SOCKET DIA 1/2 IN (12.7 MM) to loosen and remove the filter (4).
(5) If the filter is dirty, clean the filter (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-43-100-001), or replace it with a new or a clean filter (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-43-000-003) and (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-43-400-003).
(6) Remove and discard the seal (2).
(7) Put a PLUG - BLANKING on the opening of the thermostat (3).
