Health Check Procedure - Pressure Control Function with the Bleed Test Set P/N 98L36103002000


WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM IS DEPRESSURIZED BEFORE YOU START WORK. PRESSURIZED AIR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
NOTE: In the Health Check Procedures the electrical harness is in serviceable condition.
1. Reason for the Job
The Bleed Health Check procedure has a set of steps to do in order to first check the three primary functions of the EBAS.
  • For A/C with HPV SOL valve 11HA:
    The pressure control function contains the High Pressure Bleed Valve (HPV) (4000HA), the High Pressure Valve Control Solenoid (11HA) (referred to in this procedure as HPV solenoid valve) and the sense line that connects them with the Pressure Regulation Valve (PRV) (4001HA).
  • For A/C with HPV SOL Valve 4029KS:
    The pressure control function contains the HPV (4000HA), the High Pressure Valve Control Solenoid (4029KS) (referred to in this procedure as HPV solenoid valve) and the sense line that connects them with the PRV (4001HA).
  • For A/C without HPV SOL Valve:
    The pressure control function contains the HPV (4000HA) and the sense line that connects it with the PRV (4001HA).
    The pressure control function of the bleed system contains a flow chart that can be used as instruction. This flow chart gives a visual idea of the procedure.
    In order to make easy the maintenance step sequence and to prevent maintenance procedures that are not necessary, each AMM task has the structure of a special flow chart.
    It is not necessary to test all components if the first test at function level is satisfactory. Also, sense line installation can be damaged during disconnection-reconnection for testing, and a systematic test of the sense line is not recommended. Leakage test at sense line level is mandatory only if the troubleshooting is necessary.
    The operator can remove the components that have a drift, as given in the applicable flow chart, immediately or at the next maintenance unless there is an EWD message and the source of the CLASS1 failure is the component that has the drift. In this condition, you must refer to the MMEL/TSM for the aircraft dispatch.

B. Safety Precautions
   (1) Make sure that engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (2) On the AIR COND panel 30VU:
  • Make sure that the ENG 1(2) BLEED pushbutton switch is pushed (the OFF legend is off).
  • Make sure that the APU BLEED pushbutton switch is released (the ON legend is off).
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the pneumatic system.
   (3) On the ENG panel 115VU:
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start the engine 1(2).
   (4) On the HP ground connector:
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the pneumatic system.
   (5) On the ENG section of the maintenance panel 50VU:
  • Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR 1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

L. Installation of the Tool for the Minimum Opening Pressure Test of the HPV (4000HA)
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (1) Cut, remove and discard the lockwire between the blanking cap and the test port of the HPV.
   (2) Remove the blanking cap from the test port.
   (3) Connection of the M82000879 TEST PORT UNIVERSAL:
CAUTION: ALWAYS TRY TO INSTALL THE RED SIDE OF THE UNIVERSAL TEST PORT TOOL FIRST. IF YOU CANNOT INSTALL THE RED SIDE, INSTALL THE BLUE SIDE.
     (a) Install the red side of the M82000879 TEST PORT UNIVERSAL on the test port of the HPV:
       1 If you can install the red side of the tool:
  • Make sure that the blue blanking cap of the M82000879 TEST PORT UNIVERSAL is correctly tightened on the blue port.
       2 If you cannot install the red side of the tool, do the steps that follow:
         a Remove the blue blanking cap from the blue side of the M82000879 TEST PORT UNIVERSAL .
         b Install the blue blanking cap on the red side of the M82000879 TEST PORT UNIVERSAL .
         c Tighten the blue blanking cap with your hand.
         d Install the blue side of the M82000879 TEST PORT UNIVERSAL on the test port of the HPV.
         e Tighten the M82000879 TEST PORT UNIVERSAL on the HPV with your hand.
   (4) Close the shutoff valve, the purge valve and the pressure regulator valve on the 98L36103002000 TEST SET - ENGINE BLEED.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE PRESSURE SUPPLIED TO BLEED TEST SET 98L36103002000 NEVER EXCEEDS 217 PSI (15 BAR). IF THE PRESSURE SUPPLIED TO THE BLEED TEST SET EXCEEDS THIS VALUE, THERE IS A RISK OF INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT. IF THE AIR CYLINDER DOES NOT HAVE A MANOMETER INSTALLED, YOU MUST INSTALL THE PRIMARY REGULATOR VALVE BETWEEN THE AIR BOTTLE AND BLEED TEST SET 98L36103002000. THE PRIMARY REGULATOR VALVE WILL LIMIT THE PRESSURE IN THE BLEED TEST SET TO 217 PSI (15 BAR).
   (5) Connect an AIR SOURCE 6.9 BAR (100 PSI) - REGULATED,FILTERED, DRY to the 98L36103002000 TEST SET - ENGINE BLEED.
   (6) Connection of the 98L36103002000 TEST SET - ENGINE BLEED:
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU CONNECT/DISCONNECT THE TEST SET TO/FROM THE EQUIPMENT. THE PRESSURE REGULATING VALVE AND THE PRESSURE GAGE ASSEMBLY OF THE TEST SET ARE HEAVY AND CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
     (a) Connect the 98L36103002000 TEST SET - ENGINE BLEED with the short bend flexible assembly to the M82000879 TEST PORT UNIVERSAL .
   (7) Set back to zero the digital pressure gage.

M. Minimum Opening Pressure Test of the HPV (4000HA) with the Bleed Test Set P/N 98L36103002000 and the Universal Test Port Tool P/N M82000879
   (1) Do the test:
     (a) For HPV standard 6773B and 6713D (Deactivation screw is on the right of the test port, on the valve body).
ACTION
RESULT
1.On the 98L36103002000 TEST SET - ENGINE BLEED:
  • Open the shutoff valve of the air cylinder.
  • Use the primary regulator valve (on the test set or on the air cylinder) to pressurize the test set to 100 psi (6.89 bar).

2.On the 98L36103002000 TEST SET - ENGINE BLEED:
  • With the pressure gage regulator, increase the pressure to 15 psi (1.03 bar) in the two sides (red side and blue side) of the M82000879 TEST PORT UNIVERSAL installed.
On the 98L36103002000 TEST SET - ENGINE BLEED:
  • The pressure is given on the digital pressure gage.
On the HPV:
  • The visual indicator shows that the valve is open.
3.On the 98L36103002000 TEST SET - ENGINE BLEED:
  • Use the pressure regulator valve to decrease the pressure of the system to 0 psi (0.00 bar).

     (b) For HPV standard 6773E (Deactivation screw is on the left of the test port, on the regulator).
ACTION
RESULT
1.On the 98L36103002000 TEST SET - ENGINE BLEED:
  • Open the shutoff valve of the air cylinder.
  • Use the primary regulator valve (On the test set or on the air cylinder) to pressurize the test set to 100 psi (6.89 bar).

2.On the 98L36103002000 TEST SET - ENGINE BLEED:
  • With the pressure gage regulator, increase the pressure to 21.03 psi (1.45 bar) (red side of the UTP installed) or 18.42 psi (1.27 bar) (blue side of the UTP installed).
On the 98L36103002000 TEST SET - ENGINE BLEED:
  • The pressure is given on the digital pressure gage.
On the HPV:
  • The visual position indicator shows that the valve is open.
3.On the 98L36103002000 TEST SET - ENGINE BLEED:
  • Use the pressure regulator valve to decrease the pressure of the system to 0 psi (0.00 bar).

     (c) For HPV standard 6773F and 6773G (Deactivation screw is on the left of the test port, on the regulator).
ACTION
RESULT
1.On the 98L36103002000 TEST SET - ENGINE BLEED:
  • Open the shutoff valve of the air cylinder.
  • Use the primary regulator valve (on the test set or on the air cylinder) to pressurize the test set to 100 psi (6.89 bar).

2.On the 98L36103002000 TEST SET - ENGINE BLEED:
  • With the pressure gage regulator, increase the pressure to 18 psi (1.24 bar) (red side of UTP installed) or 17 psi (1.17 bar) (blue side of UTP installed).
On the 98L36103002000 TEST SET - ENGINE BLEED:
  • The pressure is given on the digital pressure gage.
On the HPV:
  • The visual position indicator shows that the valve is open.
3.On the 98L36103002000 TEST SET - ENGINE BLEED:
  • Use the pressure regulator valve to decrease the pressure of the system to 0 psi (0.00 bar).

Subtask 36-11-00-480-112-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
N. Installation of the Tool for the Opening/Closing Test of the HPV (4000HA)
   (1) Install the tool for the minimum opening pressure test.
NOTE: The opening/closing command will be simulated through the test bleed P/B on the Air Conditioning Panel 30VU.

O. Opening/Closing Test of the HPV (4000HA) with the Bleed Test Set P/N 98L36103002000 and the Universal Test Port Tool (M82000879)
   (1) Install the tool for the opening/closing test.
   (2) Do the test:
NOTE: Two persons are necessary to do the opening/closing test.
     (a) Test of the HPV (4000HA) with the M82000879 TEST PORT UNIVERSAL (red side).
ACTION
RESULT
1.Open the shutoff valve of the air cylinder.

2.Use the primary regulator valve (on the test set or on the air cylinder) to pressurize the 98L36103002000 TEST SET - ENGINE BLEED to 100 psi (6.89 bar).

3.On the 98L36103002000 TEST SET - ENGINE BLEED:
  • Open the shutoff valve.
  • Use the pressure regulator valve to slowly pressurize the system to 21.03 psi (1.45 bar).
On the 98L36103002000 TEST SET - ENGINE BLEED:
  • The pressure is given on the digital pressure gage.
On the HPV:
  • The HPV (4000HA) opens.
  • The visual position indicator shows that the valve is open.
4.On the overhead panel 30VU:
  • Release the ENGINE BLEED 1(2) P/B switch.
  • At the same time on the chronometer press the START P/B of the chronometer.
On the overhead panel 30VU:
  • The engine bleed 1(2) OFF legend is on.
On the HPV:
  • The HPV (4000HA) closes.
On the chronometer:
  • Stop the chronometer when the visual position indicator shows that the valve is closed.
  • Closing time must not be more than 4 seconds.
5.On the chronometer:
  • Press the RESET P/B of the chronometer.
On the chronometer:
  • The chronometer screen shows 00.
6.On the overhead panel 30VU:
  • Push the ENGINE BLEED 1(2) P/B switch.
  • At the same time press the START P/B of the chronometer.
On the overhead panel:
  • The engine bleed 1(2) OFF legend is off.
On the HPV:
  • The HPV (4000HA) opens.
  • Stop the chronometer when the visual position indicator shows that the valve is open.
  • Opening time must not be more than 10 seconds.
7.On the 98L36103002000 TEST SET - ENGINE BLEED:
  • Use the pressure regulator valve to decrease the pressure of the system to 0 psi (0.00 bar).
On the HPV:
  • The visual position indicator shows that the valve is closed.
     (b) Test set of the HPV (4000HA) with the M82000879 TEST PORT UNIVERSAL (blue side).
ACTION
RESULT
1.Open the shutoff valve of the air cylinder.

2.Use the primary regulator valve (on the test set or on the air cylinder) to pressurize the test set to 100 psi (6.89 bar).

3.On the 98L36103002000 TEST SET - ENGINE BLEED:
  • Open the shutoff valve.
  • Use the pressure regulator valve to slowly pressurize the system to 18.42 psi (1.27 bar).
On the 98L36103002000 TEST SET - ENGINE BLEED:
  • The pressure is given on the digital pressure gage.
On the HPV:
  • The HPV (4000HA) opens.
  • The visual position indicator shows that the valve is open.
4.On the overhead panel 30VU:
  • Release the ENGINE BLEED 1(2) P/B switch.
  • At the same time on the chronometer press the START P/B of the chronometer.
On the overhead panel 30VU:
  • The engine bleed 1(2) OFF legend is on.

On the HPV:
  • The HPV (4000HA) closes.
On the chronometer:
  • Stop the chronometer when the visual position indicator shows that the valve is closed.
  • Closing time must not be more than 4 seconds.
5.On the chronometer:
  • Press the RESET P/B of the chronometer.
On the chronometer:
  • The chronometer screen shows 00.
6.On the overhead panel 30VU:
  • Push the ENGINE BLEED 1(2) P/B switch.

NOTE: If the AIR SOURCE 6.9 BAR (100 PSI) - REGULATED,FILTERED, DRY (Z03) has a regulator valve, is not necessary to install the primary regulator valve that supplies the 98L36103002000 TEST SET - ENGINE BLEED (Z01).
     (c) Connection of the 98L36103002000 TEST SET - ENGINE BLEED (Z01):
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU CONNECT/DISCONNECT THE TEST SET TO/FROM THE EQUIPMENT. THE PRESSURE REGULATING VALVE AND THE PRESSURE GAGE ASSEMBLY OF THE TEST SET ARE HEAVY AND CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
       1 Connect the 98L36103002000 TEST SET - ENGINE BLEED (Z01) to the SBE2213 KIT TOOL-TESTER SENSE LINE (Z02).
     (d) Connect the GAGE - ABSOLUTE PRESSURE, DIGITAL, 0.001 BAR ACCURACY 2 to the valve 2 port of the sense line tester (T01) with the adaptor (T04).
     (e) TORQUE the adaptor (T04) to between 1.1 and 0.9 m.daN (97.35 and 79.65 lbf.in ) T.
     (f) Removal of the deactivation screw lockwire:
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
       1 Cut, remove and discard the lockwire from the deactivation screw of the HPV.
     (g) Remove the deactivation screw.
NOTE: Use a WRENCH 5/16 IN (8MM) - SPANNER if necessary.
     (h) Connection of the sense line tester (T01) to the HPV:
CAUTION: FIRST TRY TO INSTALL THE ADAPTOR WITH THE SHORTEST THREADED AREA (T02). IF YOU CANNOT INSTALL IT, INSTALL THE OTHER ADAPTOR (T03). MAKE SURE THAT THE ADAPTOR (T02 OR T03) IS CORRECTLY HAND TIGHTENED.
       1 Connect the sense line tester (T01) to the HPV with the adaptor (T02) or (T03).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ADAPTOR (T02 OR T03) IS CORRECTLY HAND TIGHTENED.
       2 Apply force when you tighten the adaptor (T02) or (T03) with your hand.
       3 Make sure the valve 1 and valve 2 are in the open position (valves aligned with the pneumatic ducts).
     (i) Set back to zero GAGE - ABSOLUTE PRESSURE, DIGITAL, 0.001 BAR ACCURACY 1 and 2.
NOTE: The pressure value shown on the GAGE - ABSOLUTE PRESSURE, DIGITAL, 0.001 BAR ACCURACY must be equal to 0 psi (0.0000 bar).
     (j) Open the shutoff valve on the AIR SOURCE 6.9 BAR (100 PSI) - REGULATED,FILTERED, DRY (Z03).
     (k) Use the primary regulator valve on the
98L36103002000 TEST SET - ENGINE BLEED (Z01) or AIR SOURCE 6.9 BAR (100 PSI) - REGULATED,FILTERED, DRY (Z03) to pressurize the 98L36103002000 TEST SET - ENGINE BLEED to 30 psi (2.0684 bar).
   (2) For HPV without the deactivation screw on the regulator.

NOTE: You must shake the sense line with your hand to prevent cross thread damage to the pneumatic union. To prevent damage to the fitting end of the sense line, turn the union with your hand and not with the WRENCH 5/16 IN (8MM) - SPANNER.
       3 Put a PLUG - BLANKING on the HPV.
     (g) Connection of the sense line adaptor (T04):
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE ADAPTOR (T04) IS CORRECTLY TIGHTENED ON THE SENSE LINE.
       1 Connect the sense line adaptor (T04) to the sense line union.
       2 TORQUE the sense line adaptor (T04) to between 1.1 and 0.9 m.daN (97.35 and 79.65 lbf.in )

       3 Connect the sense line tester (T01) to the sense line adaptor (T04) with the hose (T05).
     (h) Make sure that valve 1 and valve 2 are in the open position (valves are aligned with the pneumatic ducts).

CAUTION: BEFORE YOU INSTALL THE DEACTIVATION SCREW, MAKE SURE THAT THE PREFORMED PACKING IS INSTALLED ON THE DEACTIVATION SCREW.
     (c) Installation of the deactivation screw:
NOTE: If the adaptor (T03) is installed, the deactivation screw is equipped with a preformed PACKING.
       1 Make sure that you install a new preformed packing on the deactivation screw if you have removed the adaptor (T03).
       2 Install the deactivation screw on the HP bleed valve.

     (c) Connection of the sense line:
NOTE: There must be no grease or oil on the pneumatic and sense line unions.
       1 Remove the PLUG - BLANKING from the HP bleed valve.
       2 Connect the sense line to the HP bleed valve.
       3 TORQUE the sense line to between 1.69 and 1.52 m.daN (12.46 and 11.21 lbf.ft ) T.
         a Use the double torque method:
  • Torque a first time the union of the sense line to the given value.
  • Loosen the union of the sense line a quarter of a turn.
  • Torque a second time the union to the given value.
     (d) Make a mark on the union of the sense line with Varnish Polyurethane-- Marking Structure (Material No.

   (7) TORQUE the blanking cap to between 1.2 and 1 m.daN (106.19 and 88.50 lbf.in ) T.
