TASK 36-11-00-720-802-A
Health Check Procedure - Temperature Control Function

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM IS DEPRESSURIZED BEFORE YOU START WORK. PRESSURIZED AIR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
NOTE: In the health check procedures the electrical harness is in correct operating condition.
1. Reason for the Job
The Bleed Health Check procedure has a set of steps to do in order to check preventively the three primary functions of the EBAS. The initial recommended maintenance interval is every 20 months. However, as the ageing effects on EBAS equipment are linked to local parameters and operating environment, Airbus recommends to customize this interval based on operators own experience.
The temperature control function contains the Fan Air Valve (FAV) 9HA1 (9HA2), the FAV control thermostat 7170HM and the sense line that connects them.
The Bleed Health Check procedures contain a flow chart that should be used for guidance. This flow chart gives a visual idea of the procedure.
The operator can remove the components that have a drift, as given in the applicable flow chart, immediately or at the next maintenance unless there is an EWD message and the source of the CLASS1 failure is the component that has the drift. In this condition, you must refer to the MMEL/TSM for the aircraft dispatch.

NOTE: You can use bleed test set P/N 99127B04 as an alternative to bleed test set P/N 99127B03.

M. Installation of the Tool
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (1) Cut and discard the lockwire of the deactivation screw of the FAV.
   (2) Remove the deactivation screw.
NOTE: You can use a WRENCH - SPANNER if necessary.
   (3) Connect the 99127B03 BLEED TEST SET to the sense line tester (T10).
NOTE: You can use the 99127-231 TEST SET BLEED - KIT to do this test.
   (4) Connect the sense line tester as follows:
CAUTION: FIRST TRY TO INSTALL THE ADAPTOR WITH THE SHORTEST THREADED AREA (T15). IF YOU CANNOT INSTALL IT, INSTALL THE OTHER ADAPTOR (T19). MAKE SURE THAT THE ADAPTOR (T15 OR T19) IS CORRECTLY TIGHTENED.
     (a) Install the adaptor (T15) or (T19) to the deactivation screw port.
     (b) Use your hand to tighten the adaptor.
     (c) Connect the sense line tester (T10) to the adaptor (T15) or (T19).
     (d) Connect the sense line tester (T10) with the hose (T05) to the bleed test-set connector (14).
     (e) Connect the sense line tester (T10) with the hose (T04) to the bleed test-set connector (9).
   (5) Connect the 99127B03 BLEED TEST SET to a 28VDC power supply:
     (a) Connect the 28VDC electrical cord (T03) to the electrical inlet (11) of the 99127B03 BLEED TEST SET (T01) and an SUPPLY - 28 VDC, ELECTRICAL:
  • Start the SUPPLY - 28 VDC, ELECTRICAL.
     (b) Do the test that follows to make sure that the bleed test-set lights operate correctly:
  • Push the pushbutton (26) and make sure that the lights (15 to 21) come ON.
   (6) Do the power-up of the 99127B03 BLEED TEST SET:
     (a) Make sure that the 99127B03 BLEED TEST SET is electrically powered:
1 If the 28VDC is supplied through an external power supply, turn the power supply to ON.
2 Set the pressure gauge (5) to ON. The pressure value shown on the LCD screen must be equal to 0 psi (0.00 bar).
3 If it is not equal to 0 psi (0.00 bar), push the ON button for 10 seconds.
   (7) Connect the FAV electrical connection to the 99127B03 BLEED TEST SET as follows:
     (a) Disconnect the FAV electrical connector from the aircraft harness connector (9HA-A).
CAUTION: WHEN YOU CONNECT THE BLEED TEST SET, STRICTLY OBEY THE CONNECTION SEQUENCE GIVEN. IF YOU DO NOT, DAMAGE TO THE BLEED TEST SET CAN OCCUR.
     (b) Connect the electrical connector cable (T09) from the 99127B03 BLEED TEST SET (29) to the electrical connector (9HA-A) in the aircraft harness:
1 Make sure that the 28VDC electrical cord (T03) is connected to the connector (11) and the 99127B03 BLEED TEST SET is electrically powered with the 28VDC.
2 Connect the cable (T09) to the connector (29).
3 Tighten the screws of the connector (29).
4 Connect the cable (T09) to the electrical connector (9HA-A):
NOTE: Usually, the bleed test-set light (17) comes on while you do the test of the FAV (9HA).
a The cable (T08) must not be connected to the connector (12) at this point.
b Make sure that you do not connect the cable (T09) to the connector (12).
     (c) Connect the electrical connector cable (T08) from the 99127B03 BLEED TEST SET connector (12) to the electrical connector of the FAV:
1 The light (15) automatically goes off.
