Visual Inspection of the Engine Bleed Air System (EBAS) after the Damage of the Engine Compressor

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM IS DEPRESSURIZED BEFORE YOU START WORK. PRESSURIZED AIR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
WARNING: ALWAYS USE APPLICABLE GLOVES TO TOUCH HOT PARTS. HOT PARTS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
WARNING: PUT THE SAFETY DEVICES AND THE WARNING NOTICES IN POSITION BEFORE YOU START A TASK ON OR NEAR:
  • THE FLIGHT CONTROLS
  • THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES
  • THE LANDING GEAR AND THE RELATED DOORS
  • COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.
MOVEMENT OF COMPONENTS CAN KILL OR CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT NO SOURCE OF COMPRESSED AIR IS IN OPERATION IN THE AIRCRAFT WHEN YOU DO THIS TASK. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, INJURY TO PERSONNEL CAN OCCUR.

Subtask 36-11-00-210-068-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Detailed Visual Inspection of the EBAS
NOTE: If the borescope length is sufficient to examine the remaining position from the removed valve holes:
  • The parts of the valve removal is not necessary as the inspection is made by the borescope from the other valve holes.
NOTE: The visual quality of the borescope is important to have the sufficient visual precision during the inspection.
NOTE: Airbus recommends you to use a BORESCOPE SET for the borescope inspection.
   (1) For the High Pressure Bleed Valve (HPV) and the Environmental Control System (ECS) HP ducts (MID Y-Duct):
     (a) Remove HPV 4000HA1 (4000HA2) (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-51-000-802).
     (b) Visually examine HPV 4000HA1 (4000HA2) for one of the signs of Foreign Object Damage (FOD):
  • Metallic debris are found stuck in the butterfly valve
  • Dents and missing segments are present.
     (c) If one of the above signs are found:
     (d) Do the borescope inspection of the ECS HP ducts (MID Y-Duct) for one of the signs of FOD:
  • If the metallic debris are found, remove metallic debris.
     (e) Install serviceable HPV 4000HA1 (4000HA2) (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-51-400-802).
   (2) For the Pressure Regulating Valve (PRV), Overpressure Valve (OPV), Header of the HP/LP T-duct and pylon ducts:
NOTE: This procedure is applicable for the pipes from the HPV to the Intermediate Pressure (IP) bleed check-valve, OPV, Starter Air Valve (SAV) and PRV.
     (a) Remove PRV 4001HA1 (4001HA2) (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-52-000-802):
1 Visually examine the PRV for one of the signs of FOD:
  • Metallic debris are found stuck in the butterfly valve
  • Dents and missing segments are present.
2 If one of the above signs are found:
3 Do the borescope inspection of the air ducts for one of the signs of FOD:
NOTE: This procedure is applicable for the air ducts from the OPV to the IPCV, HPV and SAV.
  • If the metallic debris are found, remove metallic debris.
4 Do the borescope inspection of OPV 7115HM1 (7115HM2) for one of the signs of FOD:
  • Metallic debris are found stuck in the butterfly valve
  • Dents and missing segments are present.
5 If one of the above signs are found:
6 Do the borescope inspection of the IP bleed check-valve for one of the signs of FOD:
  • Metallic debris are found stuck in the butterfly valve
  • Dents and missing segments are present.
7 If one of the above signs are found:
     (b) Install serviceable PRV 4001HA1 (4001HA2) (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-52-400-802).
   (3) For bleed-air PreCooler Exchanger (PCE) 7150HM1 (7150HM2):
     (a) Remove PCE 7150HM1 (7150HM2) (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-42-000-802).
     (b) Visually examine the PCE with an MIRROR - INSPECTION and an LIGHT SOURCE - INSPECTION for one of the signs of FOD:
  • If FOD or metallic debris are found, remove metallic debris.
1 Do the borescope inspection of the pylon duct to OPV 7115HM1 (7115HM2).
     (c) Install serviceable PCE 7150HM1 (7150HM2) (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-42-400-802).
