Deactivation of the Overpressure Valve
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM IS DEPRESSURIZED BEFORE YOU START WORK. PRESSURIZED AIR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
WARNING:
YOU MUST NOT TOUCH HOT PARTS WITHOUT APPLICABLE GLOVES. HOT PARTS CAN CAUSE AN INJURY.
WARNING:
BEFORE YOU START WORK, YOU MUST PUT ON A SAFETY HARNESS AND ATTACH IT TO THE ACCESS PLATFORM. WITHOUT A SAFETY HARNESS, YOU CAN FALL. THIS CAN KILL YOU OR CAUSE YOU INJURY.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE SAFETY DEVICES AND THE WARNING NOTICES ARE IN POSITION BEFORE YOU START A TASK ON OR NEAR:
1. Reason for the Job- THE FLIGHT CONTROLS
- THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES
- THE LANDING GEAR AND RELATED DOORS
- COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.

E. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser
4. ProcedureWARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-807). Subtask 36-11-00-040-132-A
A. Deactivation of the Overpressure Valve
(a) Make sure that the valve position indicator shows OPEN.
(3) Lock the manual override control with the locking pin (1).
(4) TORQUE the locking pin (1) to between 5 and 4 m.daN (36.87 and 29.50 lbf.ft )
5. Close-upWARNING:
DO NOT TOUCH THE BLEED VALVE COMPONENTS FOR A SHORT TIME AFTER THE ENGINE IS SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE COMPONENTS STAY HOT FOR SOME TIME AND CAN CAUSE INJURY.
CAUTION:
CAREFULLY ALIGN THE LOCKING PIN WITH THE DEACTIVATING HOUSING ON THE VALVE. IF YOU ALIGN IT INCORRECTLY OR IF YOU TIGHTEN IT TOO MUCH, THE LOCKING PIN CAN REMAIN IN POSITION AND YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE LOCKING PIN THREAD.
(1) On the overpressure valve: (a) Make sure that the valve position indicator shows OPEN.
- If the valve position indicator does not show OPEN, use a WRENCH - HEXAGONAL to turn the position indicator to OPEN.
(3) Lock the manual override control with the locking pin (1).
(4) TORQUE the locking pin (1) to between 5 and 4 m.daN (36.87 and 29.50 lbf.ft )
