Installation of the Oxygen-System Test Ports

TASK 35-13-41-400-802-A
Installation of the Oxygen-System Test Ports

WARNING: DO NOT FILL OR REPLACE A CREW OXYGEN CYLINDER OR REPLACE A VALVE ASSEMBLY ON THE CREW OXYGEN SYSTEM WHEN YOU FUEL OR DEFUEL THE AIRCRAFT. KEEP ALL HYDROCARBONS (FUELS, LUBRICANTS, ETC.) AWAY FROM ALL SOURCES OF OXYGEN. OXYGEN BECOMES EXPLOSIVE WHEN IT TOUCHES HYDROCARBONS.
WARNING: CLEAN THE TOOLS AND MAKE SURE YOUR HANDS ARE CLEAN TO PREVENT CONTAMINATION OF THE OXYGEN SYSTEM.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
CAUTION: BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON OR NEAR THE AIR-CONDITIONING DUCTS. THE DUCTS ARE MADE OF THIN MATERIAL AND YOU CAN EASILY BREAK THEM.

WARNING: WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE GASEOUS OXYGEN SYSTEM, MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE APPLICABLE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE PRECAUTIONS, INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT CAN OCCUR.
   (1) Obey the special precautions when you do work on a gaseous oxygen system (Ref. AMM TASK 35-00-00-860-001).
   (2) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (3) In the cockpit, on the OXYGEN section of overhead control and indicating panel 21VU:
  • Make sure that the CREW SUPPLY pushbutton switch is released (the OFF legend is on).
  • Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is(are) in position to tell persons not to push the CREW SUPPLY pushbutton switch.
   (4) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is in position at access door 812.
   (5) Make sure that access door 812 is open (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-002).
   (6) Make sure that the manual shutoff valves of the crew oxygen-storage cylinders (5750HM1 and 5750HM2) are closed.
   (7) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is(are) in position to tell persons not to open the manual shutoff valves of the crew oxygen-storage cylinders (5750HM1 and 5750HM2).

A. Installation of the Oxygen-System Test Port 5755HM1(5755HM2)
CAUTION: USE A SECOND WRENCH TO APPLY COUNTERTORQUE TO THE UNION WHEN YOU DISCONNECT/CONNECT EQUIPMENT FROM FLEXIBLE HOSES AND RIGID TUBING. IF YOU DO NOT USE THE SECOND WRENCH, THERE IS A RISK THAT YOU WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE HOSES AND TUBES.
   (1) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (2) Remove the test port (5) from the BAG - VINYL, SEALED
   (3) Remove the CAP - BLANKING from the test port (5).
   (4) Remove the BAG - VINYL from the pipe (3).
   (5) Remove the PLUG - BLANKING, APPROVED FOR USE WITH OXYGEN from the pipe (3).
   (6) Put the test port (5) in position on its support.
   (7) Install the test port (5) in the pipe (3) and tighten it with your hand. Do not torque at this step.
   (8) Align the mounting holes of the test port (5) to the mounting holes of the aircraft structure.
   (9) Install the screws (1) and nuts (2) and tighten them.
   (10) TORQUE the nut (4) to between 2 and 1.5 m.daN (14.75 and 11.06 lbf.ft ) T.
   (11) Identify the tightened union nuts with a red line (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-23-22-910-001).
   (12) Make sure that the cap is on the test port (5).

C. Leak Test
   (1) Apply the solution Testing Medium-Leak Detection - Oxygen System (Material No.14CCB6) to all the connections that were disconnected or loosened.
   (2) Turn the manual shutoff valves.
CAUTION: WHEN YOU OPEN THE MANUAL SHUTOFF VALVE ON THE CREW OXYGEN-STORAGE CYLINDER, MAKE SURE THAT:
  • YOU TURN IT VERY SLOWLY
  • YOU TURN IT UNTIL IT IS FULLY OPEN.
IF YOU TURN THE MANUAL SHUTOFF VALVE TOO QUICKLY, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT. IF THE MANUAL SHUTOFF VALVE IS NOT FULLY OPEN, THE OXYGEN PRESSURE DATA CAN BE INCORRECT.
     (a) FOR [5755HM1] (PORT.ASSY TEST)
1 Turn the manual shutoff valve of the crew oxygen-storage cylinder 5750HM1 very slowly until it is fully open.
     (b) FOR [5755HM2] (PORT.ASSY TEST)
1 Turn the manual shutoff valve of the crew oxygen-storage cylinder 5750HM2 very slowly until it is fully open.
   (3) In the cockpit, on the OXYGEN section of the overhead control and indicating panel 21VU:
  • Push the CREW SUPPLY pushbutton switch (the OFF legend goes off).
   (4) Examine the connections to make sure that there are no leaks.
   (5) Remove the solution Testing Medium-Leak Detection - Oxygen System (Material No.14CCB6) from the connections with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (6) In the cockpit, on the OXYGEN section of the overhead control and indicating panel 21VU:
  • Release the CREW SUPPLY pushbutton switch (the OFF legend comes on).
