Installation of the Oxygen Filling Port

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 35-11-42-860-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Obey the special precautions when you do work on a gaseous oxygen system (Ref. AMM TASK 35-00-00-860-001).
   (2) Make sure that the ground service network is energized
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
   (3) In the cockpit, on the OXYGEN section of overhead control and indicating panel 21VU:
  • Make sure that the CREW SUPPLY pushbutton switch is released (OFF legend is on).
  • Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is(are) in position to tell persons not to operate the oxygen system.
   (4) Make sure that the manual shutoff valve(s) of the crew oxygen-storage cylinder(s) are in the closed position.
   (5) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is(are) in position to tell persons not to open the manual shutoff valve(s) of the crew oxygen-storage cylinder(s).
   (6) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is in position at access door 812.
   (7) Make sure that access door 812 is open (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-002).

4. Procedure
Subtask 35-11-42-420-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Oxygen Filling Port (5769HM)
NOTE: Only use Synthetic Oil base Grease-Fuel and Oxidized Environment Fluorinated - (Material No.03GEE1) on the thread of the nut or on the flared portion of the tube. Apply only a thin layer of the compound on the first three male threads.
   (1) Install the oxygen filling port (2) in its support and attach it with the screws (1) and the nuts (3).
   (2) Remove the blanking cap from the tube (5).
   (3) Install the new AIPC 35-11-01-02-020 SLEEVE (4) on the tube (5).
   (4) Remove the blanking cap from the oxygen filling port (2).
   (5) Install and tighten the tube (5) on the oxygen filling port (2).
Subtask 35-11-42-790-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Leak Check of the Filling Line
   (1) FOR [
5769HM] (FILL PORT-OXY SYS)
     (a) In the avionics compartment, make sure that:
  • The manual shutoff valve of crew oxygen-storage cylinder 5750HM is fully closed.
  • The WARNING NOTICE(S) is(are) in position to tell persons not to operate the manual shutoff valve of crew oxygen-storage cylinder 5750HM.
     (b) Remove the plug assembly (6) from the oxygen filling port (2) (5769HM).
     (c) Connect a NITROGEN COMPRESSED SOURCE - GROUND to the oxygen filling port (2) (5769HM).
     (d) Slowly pressurize the oxygen filling port (2) (5769HM) with the NITROGEN COMPRESSED SOURCE - GROUND to 1850 psi (127.55 bar).
     (e) Apply Testing Medium-Leak Detection - Oxygen System (Material No.14CCB6) to the connections between the oxygen filling port (2) (5769HM) and the oxygen pressure regulator/transmitter (4HT).
       1 If you find leak(s), use the relief function of the NITROGEN COMPRESSED SOURCE - GROUND to release the pressure.
       2 Do a check of the torque(s) of the connection(s).
       3 Slowly pressurize the oxygen filling port (2) (5769HM) with the NITROGEN COMPRESSED SOURCE - GROUND to 1850 psi (127.55 bar).
       4 Apply Testing Medium-Leak Detection - Oxygen System (Material No.14CCB6) to the connections between the oxygen filling port (2) (5769HM) and the oxygen pressure regulator/transmitter (4HT).
     (f) Remove the Testing Medium-Leak Detection - Oxygen System (Material No.14CCB6) from the connections with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
     (g) Use the relief function of the NITROGEN COMPRESSED SOURCE - GROUND to release the pressure.
     (h) Remove the NITROGEN COMPRESSED SOURCE - GROUND from the oxygen filling port (2) (5769HM).
     (i) Install the plug assembly (6) on the oxygen filling port (2) (5769HM).
     (j) TORQUE the plug assembly (6) to between 0.275 and 0.225 m.N (2.43 and 1.99 lbf.in ) T.
     (k) Identify the tightened union nuts with a red line (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-23-22-910-001).
     (l) Open the manual shutoff valve.
CAUTION: WHEN YOU OPEN THE MANUAL SHUTOFF VALVE ON THE CREW OXYGEN-STORAGE CYLINDER, MAKE SURE THAT:
  • YOU TURN IT VERY SLOWLY
  • YOU TURN IT UNTIL IT IS FULLY OPEN.
IF YOU TURN THE MANUAL SHUTOFF VALVE TOO QUICKLY, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT. IF THE MANUAL SHUTOFF VALVE IS NOT FULLY OPEN, THE OXYGEN PRESSURE DATA CAN BE INCORRECT.
       1 Slowly and fully open the manual shutoff valve of the crew oxygen-storage cylinder (5750HM).
Subtask 35-11-42-420-052-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Installation of the Oxygen Filling Port
   (1) Do a visual inspection and clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area.
   (2) Remove the oxygen filling port (3) from the BAG - VINYL, SEALED.
   (3) Remove the CAP - BLANKING, APPROVED FOR USE WITH OXYGEN from the outlet side of the oxygen filling port (3).
   (4) Remove the disconnected end of the tube (6) from the BAG - VINYL, SEALED.
   (5) Remove the PLUG - BLANKING, APPROVED FOR USE WITH OXYGEN from the tube (6).
   (6) Put the oxygen filling port (3) in position on its support plate (4).
   (7) Tighten the coupling nut of the tube (6) with your hands on the oxygen filling port (3).
   (8) Align the holes of the oxygen filling port (3) with the holes of the support plate (4).
   (9) Install the screws (2) and nuts (5) and tighten them.
   (10) Install the tube (6) on the oxygen filling port (3) as follows:
CAUTION: USE A SECOND WRENCH TO APPLY COUNTERTORQUE TO THE UNION WHEN YOU DISCONNECT/CONNECT EQUIPMENT FROM FLEXIBLE HOSES AND RIGID TUBING. IF YOU DO NOT USE THE SECOND WRENCH, THERE IS A RISK THAT YOU WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE HOSES AND TUBES.
     (a) Hold the oxygen filling port (3) with a WRENCH - STANDARD.
     (b) TORQUE the coupling nut of the tube (6) to between 2.14 and 1.52 m.daN (15.78 and 11.21 lbf.ft ) T.
     (c) Identify the tightened union nuts with a red line (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-23-22-910-001).
   (11) Remove the CAP - BLANKING, APPROVED FOR USE WITH OXYGEN from the inlet side of the oxygen filling port (3).
   (12) Remove the PLUG - BLANKING, APPROVED FOR USE WITH OXYGEN from the nut of the plug assembly (1).
   (13) Install the plug assembly (1) on the oxygen filling port (3).
   (14) TORQUE the plug assembly (1) to between 0.73 and 0.63 m.daN (64.60 and 55.75 lbf.in ) T.

D. Leak Checks
   (1) FOR [
5769HM1] (PORT.FILLING ASSY)
     (a) In the avionics compartment, make sure that:
  • The manual shutoff valve of the crew oxygen-storage cylinder 5750HM1 is fully closed.
  • The WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the manual shutoff valve of the crew oxygen-storage cylinder 5750HM1.
     (b) Remove the plug assembly (1) from the oxygen filling port (3) (5769HM1).
     (c) Connect a NITROGEN COMPRESSED SOURCE - GROUND to the oxygen filling port (3) (5769HM1).
     (d) Slowly pressurize the oxygen filling port (3) (5769HM1) with the NITROGEN COMPRESSED SOURCE - GROUND to 1850 psi (127.55 bar).
     (e) Apply Testing Medium-Leak Detection - Oxygen System (Material No.14CCB6) to the connections between the oxygen filling port (3) (5769HM1) and the oxygen pressure regulator/transmitter (4HT).
       1 If you find leak(s), use the relief function of the NITROGEN COMPRESSED SOURCE - GROUND to release the pressure.
       2 Do a check of the torque(s) of the connection(s).
       3 Slowly pressurize the oxygen filling port (3) (5769HM1) with the NITROGEN COMPRESSED SOURCE - GROUND to 1850 psi (127.55 bar).
       4 Apply Testing Medium-Leak Detection - Oxygen System (Material No.14CCB6) to the connections between the oxygen filling port (3) (5769HM1) and the oxygen pressure regulator/transmitter (4HT).
     (f) Remove the Testing Medium-Leak Detection - Oxygen System (Material No.14CCB6) from the connections with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
     (g) Use the relief function of the NITROGEN COMPRESSED SOURCE - GROUND to release the pressure.
     (h) Remove the NITROGEN COMPRESSED SOURCE - GROUND from the oxygen filling port (3) (5769HM1).
     (i) Install the plug assembly (1) on the oxygen filling port (3) (5769HM1).
     (j) TORQUE the plug assembly (1) to between 0.73 and 0.63 m.daN (64.60 and 55.75 lbf.in ) T.
     (k) Identify the tightened union nuts with a red line (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-23-22-910-001).
     (l) Open the manual shutoff valve.
CAUTION: WHEN YOU OPEN THE MANUAL SHUTOFF VALVE ON THE CREW OXYGEN-STORAGE CYLINDER, MAKE SURE THAT:
  • YOU TURN IT VERY SLOWLY
  • YOU TURN IT UNTIL IT IS FULLY OPEN.
IF YOU TURN THE MANUAL SHUTOFF VALVE TOO QUICKLY, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT. IF THE MANUAL SHUTOFF VALVE IS NOT FULLY OPEN, THE OXYGEN PRESSURE DATA CAN BE INCORRECT.
       1 Slowly and fully open the manual shutoff valve of the crew oxygen-storage cylinder (5750HM1).
   (2) FOR [5769HM2] (PORT.FILLING ASSY)
     (a) In the avionics compartment, make sure that:
  • The manual shutoff valve of the crew oxygen-storage cylinder 5750HM2 is fully closed.
  • The WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the manual shutoff valve of the crew oxygen-storage cylinder 5750HM2.
     (b) Remove the plug assembly (1) from the oxygen filling port (3) (5769HM2).
     (c) Connect a NITROGEN COMPRESSED SOURCE - GROUND to the oxygen filling port (3) (5769HM2).
     (d) Slowly pressurize the oxygen filling port (3) (5769HM2) with the NITROGEN COMPRESSED SOURCE - GROUND to 1850 psi (127.55 bar).
     (e) Apply Testing Medium-Leak Detection - Oxygen System (Material No.14CCB6) to the connections between the oxygen filling port (3) (5769HM2) and the oxygen pressure regulator/transmitter (4HT2).
       1 If you find leak(s), use the relief function of the NITROGEN COMPRESSED SOURCE - GROUND to release the pressure.
       2 Do a check of the torque(s) of the connection(s).
       3 Slowly pressurize the oxygen filling port (3) (5769HM2) with the NITROGEN COMPRESSED SOURCE - GROUND to 1850 psi (127.55 bar).
       4 Apply Testing Medium-Leak Detection - Oxygen System (Material No.14CCB6) to the connections between the oxygen filling port (3) (5769HM2) and the oxygen pressure regulator/transmitter (4HT2).
     (f) Remove the Testing Medium-Leak Detection - Oxygen System (Material No.14CCB6) from the connections with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
     (g) Use the relief function of the NITROGEN COMPRESSED SOURCE - GROUND to release the pressure.
     (h) Remove the NITROGEN COMPRESSED SOURCE - GROUND from the oxygen filling port (3) (5769HM2).
     (i) Install the plug assembly (1) on the oxygen filling port (3) (5769HM2).
     (j) TORQUE the plug assembly (1) to between 0.73 and 0.63 m.daN (64.60 and 55.75 lbf.in ) T.
     (k) Identify the tightened union nuts with a red line (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-23-22-910-001).
     (l) Open the manual shutoff valve.
CAUTION: WHEN YOU OPEN THE MANUAL SHUTOFF VALVE ON THE CREW OXYGEN-STORAGE CYLINDER, MAKE SURE THAT:
  • YOU TURN IT VERY SLOWLY
  • YOU TURN IT UNTIL IT IS FULLY OPEN.
IF YOU TURN THE MANUAL SHUTOFF VALVE TOO QUICKLY, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT. IF THE MANUAL SHUTOFF VALVE IS NOT FULLY OPEN, THE OXYGEN PRESSURE DATA CAN BE INCORRECT.
       1 Slowly and fully open the manual shutoff valve of the crew oxygen-storage cylinder (5750HM2).

E. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

F. Bleeding of the Oxygen System(s)
   (1) In the cockpit, on the OXYGEN section of the overhead control and indicating panel 21VU:
  • Push the CREW SUPPLY pushbutton switch (the OFF legend goes off).
   (2) FOR [5769HM1] (PORT.FILLING ASSY)
     (a) On the Captain oxygen-mask stowage-box, push and hold the PRESS TO TEST AND RESET control button.
At the same time, push and hold the PRESS TO TEST/EMERGENCY knob on the mask regulator.
       1 Keep the PRESS TO TEST AND RESET control button and the PRESS TO TEST/EMERGENCY knob pushed for a minimum of three seconds.
NOTE: During this time, the flow rate indicator changes from yellow to black and the volume of the sound of the oxygen flow decreases.
       2 When the flow rate indicator is black and when you can no longer hear the sound of the oxygen flow:
  • Release the PRESS TO TEST/EMERGENCY knob.
  • Release the PRESS TO TEST AND RESET control button.
       3 Check of the PRESS TO TEST/EMERGENCY knob position
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE PRESS TO TEST/EMERGENCY KNOB IS NOT IN THE EMERGENCY POSITION. IF IT IS IN THE EMERGENCY POSITION, THERE CAN BE A LEAK OF OXYGEN.
         a Make sure that the PRESS TO TEST/EMERGENCY knob is not in the EMERGENCY position.
     (b) Do this bleeding again for the Third Occupant oxygen-mask.
   (3) FOR [5769HM2] (PORT.FILLING ASSY)
     (a) On the First-Officer oxygen-mask stowage-box, push and hold the PRESS TO TEST AND RESET control button.
At the same time, push and hold the PRESS TO TEST/EMERGENCY knob on the mask regulator.
       1 Keep the PRESS TO TEST AND RESET control button and the PRESS TO TEST/EMERGENCY knob pushed for a minimum of three seconds.
NOTE: During this time, the flow rate indicator changes from yellow to black and the volume of the sound of the oxygen flow decreases.
       2 When the flow rate indicator is black and when you can no longer hear the sound of the oxygen flow:
  • Release the PRESS TO TEST/EMERGENCY knob.
  • Release the PRESS TO TEST AND RESET control button.
       3 Check of the PRESS TO TEST/EMERGENCY knob position
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE PRESS TO TEST/EMERGENCY KNOB IS NOT IN THE EMERGENCY POSITION. IF IT IS IN THE EMERGENCY POSITION, THERE CAN BE A LEAK OF OXYGEN.
         a Make sure that the PRESS TO TEST/EMERGENCY knob is not in the EMERGENCY position.
     (b) Do this bleeding again for the Fourth Occupant oxygen-mask.
   (4) In the cockpit, on the OXYGEN section of the overhead control and indicating panel 21VU:
  • Release the CREW SUPPLY pushbutton switch (the OFF legend comes on).

F. Bleeding of the Oxygen System(s)
   (1) FOR [5769HM] (FILL PORT-OXY SYS)
     (a) In the cockpit, on the OXYGEN section of overhead control and indicating panel 21VU:
  • Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
  • Push the CREW SUPPLY pushbutton switch (the OFF legend goes off).
     (b) On one oxygen-mask stowage-box, push and hold the PRESS TO TEST AND RESET control button.
At the same time, push and hold the PRESS TO TEST/EMERGENCY knob on the mask regulator.
       1 Keep the PRESS TO TEST AND RESET control button and the PRESS TO TEST/EMERGENCY knob pushed for a minimum of three seconds.
NOTE: During this time, the flow rate indicator changes from yellow to black and the volume of the sound of the oxygen flow decreases.
       2 When the flow rate indicator is black and when you can no longer hear the sound of the oxygen flow:
  • Release the PRESS TO TEST/EMERGENCY knob.
  • Release the PRESS TO TEST AND RESET control button.
       3 Check of the PRESS TO TEST/EMERGENCY knob position:
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE PRESS TO TEST/EMERGENCY KNOB IS NOT IN THE EMERGENCY POSITION. IF IT IS IN THE EMERGENCY POSITION, THERE CAN BE A LEAK OF OXYGEN.
         a Make sure that the PRESS TO TEST/EMERGENCY knob is not in the EMERGENCY position.
     (c) Do this bleeding procedure for all the oxygen-mask stowage boxes.
     (d) In the cockpit, on the OXYGEN section of the overhead control and indicating panel 21VU:
  • Release the CREW SUPPLY pushbutton switch (the OFF legend comes on).
5. Close-up
Subtask 35-11-42-860-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Very slowly open the valve of the cylinder (5750HM) 3.5 to 4 turns.
   (3) Let the pressure become stable. This occurs after approximately 90 seconds.
   (4) Fully open the valve of the cylinder.
Subtask 35-11-42-860-051-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Turn the valve of the cylinder (5750 HM) very slowly until it is fully open.
Subtask 35-11-42-860-051-E ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
CAUTION: WHEN YOU OPEN THE MANUAL SHUTOFF VALVE ON THE CREW OXYGEN-STORAGE CYLINDER, MAKE SURE THAT:
  • YOU TURN IT VERY SLOWLY
  • YOU TURN IT UNTIL IT IS FULLY OPEN.
IF YOU TURN THE MANUAL SHUTOFF VALVE TOO QUICKLY, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT. IF THE MANUAL SHUTOFF VALVE IS NOT FULLY OPEN, THE OXYGEN PRESSURE DATA CAN BE INCORRECT.
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Very slowly and fully open the manual shutoff valve of the crew oxygen-storage cylinder (5750HM1).
   (3) Very slowly and fully open the manual shutoff valve of the crew oxygen-storage cylinder (5750HM2).

   (1) Close access door 812.
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) De-energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-862-001).

   (2) Close access door 812 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-410-002).
   (3) In the avionics compartment:
     (a) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (4) In the cockpit:
     (a) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (5) Remove the access platform(s).
