Procedure to Get Access to the SYSTEM REPORT/TEST NAV Page

Subtask 34-52-00-860-106-A
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) On the SWITCHING panel 8VU:
  • Make sure that the AIR DATA selector switch is set to NORM.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ATC/TCAS control unit:
  • Start the ATC system 1(2)
  • Enter the ATC code 7776, or a different code given by your local authorities, to keep the traffic interference to a minimum
  • Set the ALT RPTG/ON/OFF switch to ON
  • Set the AUTO/ON/STBY switch to AUTO.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ATC/TCAS control unit:
  • Start ATC system 1(2).
  • Set ATC code 7776, or a different code from your local authorities, to keep the traffic interference to a minimum.
  • Set the ALT RPT/OFF/ON switch to ON.
  • Set the SBY/ON/TA/RA-TA switch to ON.
   (2) In the procedure that follows, before you push the SELECT key to get the MODE S UF16 TEST page (only for this page):
  • Set the SBY/ON/TA/RA-TA switch to RA-TA.
  • Set the SBY/ON/TA/RA-TA switch to ON again, before you get access to the next page.

  • Start the ATC system 1(2)

A. Functional Test of the ATC MODE S
NOTE: Do the test for the system 1.
Then, do the test for the system 2.
NOTE: There are many different types of test benches. This procedure gives a typical test sequence. The test sequence can change with the test bench used.
NOTE: For Elementary Surveillance (ELS) and Enhanced Surveillance (EHS) capable transponders, use an Extended Squitters (ES) capable test set.
   (1) Put the test antenna in position in the line sight of the ATC1(2) top antenna.

1.Set the test set (or bench) for:
The test set must show:
- Interrogation MODE S
- MODE S aircraft code: XXXXXX (the aircraft code has 6 digits and agrees with the 24-bit Mode S address).

   (1) Get access to the "SYSTEM REPORT/TEST NAV" page (Ref. AMM TASK 31-32-00-860-010).

1. On the Multipurpose Control and Display Unit (MCDU):
On the MCDU:
- On the "SYSTEM REPORT/TEST NAV" page, push the line select key adjacent to the "ATC1(ATC2)" indication.
- The "ATC1(ATC2)" page comes into view.
2. On the "ATC1(ATC2)" page, push the line select key adjacent to the "DISCRETE CONFIG" indication.
- The "ATC1(ATC2) 1/2" page comes into view.
3. On the "ATC1(ATC2) 1/2" page:

- Push the line select key adjacent to the "MODE S ADDRESS" indication.
- The "MODE S ADDRESS" page comes into view.
- Make sure that "MODE S ADDRESS: XXXXXX (HEX)" is correct.

4. Push the line select key adjacent to the "RETURN" indication.
- The "ATC1(ATC2) 1/2" page comes into view.
5. Push the line select key adjacent to the "RETURN" indication.
- The "ATC1(ATC2)" page comes into view.

   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ATC/TCAS control unit, set:
  • the ALT RPTG ON/OFF switch to OFF
  • the ON/AUTO/STBY switch to STBY.
   (2) Remove the test antenna and the test set.
   (3) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
Subtask 34-52-00-860-105-E ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ATC/TCAS control unit, set:
  • the ALT RPT ON/OFF switch to OFF
  • the SBY/ON/TA/RA-TA switch to SBY.
   (2) Remove the test antenna and the test set.
   (3) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).

A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ATC/TCAS control unit, set:
  • the STBY/ALT RPTG OFF/XPNDR/TA ONLY/TA/RA switch to STBY.
   (2) Remove the test antenna and the test set.
   (3) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
