A. Removal of the Top Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) Antenna
   (1) Remove the sealant and the cord from the heads of the screws (8), (17) and from around the bottom of the antenna.
   (2) Remove the screws (8) and (17) and the washers (7) and (16).
   (3) Pull the antenna (6) away from the fuselage structure (1).
   (4) Remove the lockwire:
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (a) Remove and discard the lockwire from the connectors of the coaxial cables (2).
   (5) Disconnect the connectors of the coaxial cables (2).
     (a) Make sure that you do not let the connectors of the coaxial cables (2) go into the fuselage.
   (6) Remove the foam washer (5).
   (7) Remove and discard the preformed packing (4) and the Teflon gasket (3).
   (8) Remove the antenna (6).
     (a) Make sure that there is no discoloration (blue discoloration) on the coaxial cables (2).
1 If you are not sure of the correct condition of the coaxial cables (2), do the steps that follow:
  • Remove the Traffic and Terrain Integrated Surveillance System (T/TISS) computer from its rack (Ref. AMM TASK 34-72-34-000-001).
  • Do a test for a short circuit between the core and the shield of the coaxial cables (2). Refer to the test between two conductors ESPM 205222.
  • Measure the resistance between the core and the metal part of the connectors of the coaxial cables (2).
  • Make sure that the resistance is a minimum of 5 MOhms (open circuit).
  • If the resistance between the core and the shield of the coaxial cables (2) is less than 5 MOhms, replace the coaxial cables (2) ESPM 203311.
  • Install the T/TISS computer (Ref. AMM TASK 34-72-34-400-001).
   (9) Put the CAP - BLANKING on the disconnected connectors of the coaxial cables (2) and on the connectors (9).
   (10) Put the TAPE - MASKING around the coaxial cables (2) and attach the coaxial cables (2) to the fuselage structure (1).
   (11) Remove the sealant with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC and clean the fuselage structure (1) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (12) Put the COVER - PROTECTION in position on the opening to prevent contamination.
