A. Removal of the Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) Antenna
   (1) FOR [7SG1] (ANTENNA-TCAS, TOP)
     (a) Remove the sealant and the cord from the heads of the screws (8), (10) and from around the bottom of the antenna.
     (b) Remove the screws (8) and (10) and the washers (7) and (11).
     (c) Do not use a metal tool as a lever to remove the antenna from the fuselage.
     (d) Pull the antenna (6) away from the fuselage structure (1).
     (e) Remove the lockwire:
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

  • Do a test for a short circuit between the core and the shield of the coaxial cables (2). Refer to the test between two conductors ESPM 205222.
  • Measure the resistance between the core and the metal part of the connectors of the coaxial cables (2).
  • Make sure that the resistance is a minimum of 5 MOhms (open circuit).
  • If the resistance between the core and the shield of the coaxial cables (2) is less than 5 MOhms, replace the coaxial cables (2) ESPM 203311.
  • Install the T/TISS computer (Ref. AMM TASK 34-72-34-400-001).
     (l) Put the CAP - BLANKING on the disconnected connectors of the coaxial cables (2) and on the connectors (9).
