4. Procedure
Subtask 34-11-18-220-050-A
A. Inspection/Check of the Total Air Temperature (TAT) Sensors (11FP1, 11FP2)
   (1) Do a general visual inspection of the TAT sensors:
     (a) Color
With time, the color of the sensor becomes brown and/or black.
This coloration has no effect on the operation of the sensor.
     (b) Internal obstruction
1 Make sure that the TAT sensor is not clogged.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE SHARP AND/OR METAL TOOLS OR OBJECTS TO CLEAN THE TAT SENSOR. SUCH TOOLS OR OBJECTS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TAT SENSOR.
a If the TAT sensor is clogged, remove it (Ref. AMM TASK 34-11-18-000-001).
     (c) Cleaning of the external surface
CAUTION: DO NOT USE ROUGH ABRASIVE CLEANERS. IF YOU DO, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE PLATING.
1 Clean the surfaces of the TAT sensor with a solution of WATER SOURCE - GROUND and Aqueous Cleaner-Aircraft Exterior Pressure Spraying - (Material No.08ABC1) .
2 Use a moist clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and remove the contamination. Make the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) moist with an applicable Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
3 Flush the unit fully with clean WATER SOURCE - GROUND.
     (d) If there are signs of lightning strike (burn marks, spots, etc.) on one of the TAT sensors, replace it (Ref. AMM TASK 34-11-18-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 34-11-18-400-001).
     (e) If the TAT sensor is not in the correct condition (oxidation, impact marks, cracks, ...) replace it (Ref. AMM TASK 34-11-18-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 34-11-18-400-001).
