Removal of the Flash Tube Assembly of the Upper Beacon/Strobe Light


WARNING: ISOLATE THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS FROM THE RELATED EQUIPMENT AND THE ENVIRONMENT.
WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE STROBE LIGHTS FOR AT LEAST 5 MINUTES AFTER OPERATION. THE STROBE LIGHT WILL STILL BE HOT.
WARNING: DO NOT REMOVE THE STROBE LIGHT FOR AT LEAST TEN MINUTES AFTER YOU DE-ENERGIZE THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS. THE HIGH VOLTAGE ELECTRICAL CURRENT IN THE CAPACITOR OF THE STROBE LIGHT IS DANGEROUS.

   (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).

B. Safety Precautions
   (1) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) on panel 25VU to tell persons not to operate the strobe lights or the navigation lights.

D. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that switch 2LV BEACON ON-OFF on overhead panel 25VU is in the OFF position.
   (2) Remove the upper beacon/strobe light (Ref. AMM TASK 33-48-11-000-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 33-48-11-000-002).
4. Procedure
Subtask 33-48-11-020-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Flash Tube Assembly of Upper Beacon/Strobe Light
   (1) Remove the screws (1) from the housing (2) of the upper beacon/strobe light.
   (2) Lift the flash tube assembly (5) until you can see the electrical connectors (4).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: MAKE MATCH MARKS ON ALL THE ELECTRICAL WIRES BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT THEM. INCORRECT CONNECTION OF WIRES WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (3) Disconnect the electrical connectors (4) from the transformer (3).
   (4) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
   (5) Remove the flash tube assembly (5) from the housing (2) of the upper beacon/strobe light.
Subtask 33-48-11-020-054-GL ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the flash tube assembly of upper beacon/strobe light
   (1) Remove the screws (4) from the housing (3).
   (2) Remove the screws (1) from the faraday cage (8).
   (3) Remove the faraday cage (8) from the plate (2) of the upper beacon/strobe light.
   (4) Remove the housing (3) from the plate (2) of the upper beacon/strobe light.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: MAKE MATCH MARKS ON ALL THE ELECTRICAL WIRES BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT THEM. INCORRECT CONNECTION OF WIRES WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (5) Disconnect the electrical connectors (6) from the transformer (5).
   (6) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
   (7) Remove the flash tube assembly (7) from the plate (2) of the upper beacon/strobe light.
