  • YOU REPAIR THE FUEL LEAK
  • YOU REPLACE THE LANDING LIGHT ASSEMBLY.
IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS PRECAUTION, IGNITION OF THE REMAINING FUEL IN THE LANDING LIGHT CAN OCCUR.
WARNING: WEAR GLASSES AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHING WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE LIGHT. THE LAMP IS PRESSURIZED AND AN EXPLOSION CAN OCCUR.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
CAUTION: WHEN YOU REPLACE A LANDING LIGHT LAMP, EXAMINE THE APPLICABLE LANDING LIGHT ASSEMBLY FOR SIGNS OF FUEL CONTAMINATION. IF YOU FIND FUEL CONTAMINATION, EXAMINE THE ITEMS THAT FOLLOW FOR SIGNS OF FUEL LEAKAGE:
  • THE FUEL PUMP(S) 21QA(26QA) OR 25QA(22QA)
  • THE WATER DRAIN VALVE 25QM(26QM) DIRECTLY FORWARD OF THE LANDING LIGHT ASSEMBLY.
REFER TO AMM 28-11-00-06 FOR LEAKAGE LIMITS AND REPAIR AS NECESSARY. IF YOU DO NOT REPAIR THE LEAK, NO PERSONS MUST OPERATE THE APPLICABLE LANDING LIGHT UNTIL:
  • THE LEAK IS REPAIRED
  • THE LANDING LIGHT ASSEMBLY IS REPLACED.

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
   (2) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the landing lights.

B. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position as applicable:
     (a) FOR [7LB] (LT-LANDING, L)
below zone 571
     (b) FOR [8LB] (LT-LANDING, R)
below zone 671.

C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) Extend the landing light (4):
     (a) In zone 571 (671), make sure that the travel range of the landing light (4) is clear.
     (b) In the cockpit, on the lighting panel 25VU, set the LAND L (R) switch to the OFF position.
     (c) Make sure that the landing light (4) extends.
   (3) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).

E. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
NOTE: This procedure is only applicable if the landing light (4) does not extend correctly in Para. 3.C.
   (1) If the landing light (4) does not extend correctly, do the steps that follow:
     (a) Use a PLIERS - CIRCLIP and remove the seeger rings (2).
     (b) Remove the spring inoxes (3) and the steel arms (1).
     (c) Turn the landing light (4) until you get access to the captive screws (6).
     (d) Install the steel arms (1) and the spring inoxes (3) in the correct position.
     (e) Use a PLIERS - CIRCLIP and install the seeger rings (2).

A. Examine the Landing Light Assembly for Fuel Contamination
   (1) Examine the landing light assembly for signs of fuel contamination.
   (2) If you find fuel contamination, examine the items that follow for fuel leakage:
Repair the leak(s) as necessary.

B. Removal of the Glass Assembly
   (1) Loosen the captive screws (6) of the landing light (4).
   (2) Remove the glass assembly (5).

D. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

E. Operational Test
   (1) Do an operational test of the applicable landing light (4) (
Ref. AMM TASK 33-42-00-710-001).
   (2) Clean the glass assembly (5) with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) Retract the landing light (4):
     (a) In zone 571 (671), make sure that the travel range of the landing light is clear.
     (b) In the cockpit, on the lighting panel 25VU, set the LAND L (R) switch to the RETRACT position.
     (c) Make sure that the landing light (4) retracts.
   (3) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).

B. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the safety barriers.
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (4) Remove the access platform(s).
   (5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
