  • YOU REPAIR THE FUEL LEAK
  • YOU REPLACE THE LANDING LIGHT ASSEMBLY.
IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS PRECAUTION, IGNITION OF THE REMAINING FUEL IN THE LANDING LIGHT CAN OCCUR.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
CAUTION: WHEN YOU REPLACE A LANDING LIGHT LENS AND MIRROR, EXAMINE THE APPLICABLE LANDING LIGHT ASSEMBLY FOR SIGNS OF FUEL CONTAMINATION. IF YOU FIND FUEL CONTAMINATION, EXAMINE THE ITEMS THAT FOLLOW FOR SIGNS OF FUEL LEAKAGE:
  • THE FUEL PUMP(S) 21QA(26QA) OR 25QA(22QA)
  • THE WATER DRAIN VALVE 25QM(26QM) DIRECTLY FORWARD OF THE LANDING LIGHT ASSEMBLY.
REFER TO AMM 28-11-00-06 FOR LEAKAGE LIMITS AND REPAIR AS NECESARY. IF YOU DO NOT REPAIR THE LEAK, NO PERSONS MUST OPERATE THE APPLICABLE LANDING LIGHT UNTIL:

Subtask 33-42-11-020-054-A
B. Removal of the Lens and the Mirror
WARNING: WEAR GLASSES AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHING WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE LIGHT. THE LAMP IS PRESSURIZED AND AN EXPLOSION CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: DO NOT TOUCH THE LAMP GLASS WITH YOUR FINGERS. THE OILS FROM YOUR SKIN WILL QUICKLY CAUSE DETERIORATION OF THE LAMP. IF YOU ACCIDENTALLY TOUCH THE LAMP GLASS, CLEAN IT WITH A LINT- FREE CLOTH. IF NECESSARY, MAKE THE CLOTH MOIST WITH WATER. DRY WITH LOW-PRESSURE COMPRESSED AIR JET. DO NOT USE ALCOHOL.
CAUTION: USE ONLY CLEAN, LINT-FREE GLOVES WHEN YOU TOUCH THE BULB AND THE MIRROR.
   (1) Loosen the screw (4).
   (2) Remove the clamp (5).
   (3) Pull the lamp (6) away from the lamp housing (1) to get access to the electrical terminals (3).
   (4) Remove the screws (2) and disconnect the two electrical terminals (3).
   (5) Pull the lens (6) away from the mirror (11).
   (6) Remove the two screws (7) and the two washers (8).
   (7) Carefully remove and keep the halogen bulb (10).
   (8) If the gasket (12) on the lamp housing (1) is defective, remove and discard it.

   (3) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
Subtask 33-42-11-420-057-A
D. Installation of the Lens and the Mirror
   (1) Carefully put the halogen bulb (10) in position on a new mirror (11).
NOTE: If the halogen bulb (10) is damaged, replace it.
NOTE: If available, use the bulb handling tool to adjust the bulb. Retain the handling tool after bulb installation.
NOTE: Make sure that the pinched seal (9) end points forward.
   (2) Install the two washers (8) and the two screws (7).
     (a) Tighten the two screws (7) carefully until they touch the halogen bulb (10) attachment brackets.
     (b) Apply one more quarter turn to the two screws (7).
   (3) If necessary, install a new seal (12) on the lamp housing (1).
   (4) Put a new lens (6) in position on a new mirror (11) with the halogen bulb (10) installed.

   (7) Put the clamp (5) in position.
NOTE: Examine the clamp (5). If it is twisted, replace it.
   (8) Install the screw (4).
CAUTION: DO NOT USE THE BULB HANDLING TOOL TO TIGHTEN THE CLAMP SCREW. DAMAGE CAN OCCUR TO THE COMPONENTS IF THE BULB HANDLING TOOL BREAKS. USE THE CORRECT TOOL TO TIGHTEN THE CLAMP SCREW.
   (9) Tighten the screw (4) until the screw head touches the clamp tab.
   (10) The distance between the two clamp (5) tabs is 10 mm (0.3937 in.) +/- 0.2 mm (0.0079 in.).
