Installation of the Rear Navigation and Strobe Light Assembly

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) In the cockpit, on panel 25VU:
  • Make sure that the STROBE switch is in the OFF position.
  • Make sure that the NAV & LOGO switch is in the OFF position.
  • Make sure that the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch is in the OFF position.
  • Make sure there is a warning notice to tell persons not to operate the navigation lights or the strobe lights.
  • Make sure there is a warning notice to tell persons not to operate the APU.

B. Make sure that this(these) circuit breaker(s) is(are) open, safetied and tagged:

C. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position at the APU tail-cone-exhaust area.
4. Procedure

A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.

B. Installation of the Rear Navigation and Strobe Light Assembly
   (1) Remove the blanking caps from the electrical connectors (5) and (6).
   (2) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
   (3) Connect the electrical connectors (5) and (6) to the rear navigation and strobe light assembly (3).
   (4) Put the rear navigation and strobe light assembly (3) in position on the APU exhaust access-fairing (4).
   (5) Install the screws (1) and the washers (2).
   (6) Tighten the screws (1).
   (7) Clean the outer side of the rear navigation and strobe light assembly (3) with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (8) Apply the Silicone Sealant-Firewall High Temp. - (Material No.06BHG1) to all the sides of the mating flange of the rear navigation and strobe light assembly (3), the washers (2) and the screws (1).

C. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

D. Test
   (1) Do the operational test of the rear navigation and strobe light assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 33-41-00-710-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 33-48-00-710-002).

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
