Removal of the Rear Navigation and Strobe Light Assembly
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT ALL THE CIRCUITS IN MAINTENANCE ARE ISOLATED BEFORE YOU SUPPLY ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE AIRCRAFT. UNWANTED ELECTRICAL POWER CAN BE DANGEROUS.
WARNING:
PUT THE SAFETY DEVICES AND THE WARNING NOTICES IN POSITION BEFORE YOU START A TASK ON OR NEAR:
- THE FLIGHT CONTROLS
- THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES
- THE LANDING GEAR AND THE RELATED DOORS
- COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.
WARNING:
BEFORE YOU START WORK, YOU MUST PUT ON A SAFETY HARNESS AND ATTACH IT TO THE ACCESS PLATFORM. WITHOUT A SAFETY HARNESS, YOU CAN FALL. THIS CAN KILL YOU OR CAUSE YOU INJURY.
WARNING:
DO NOT TOUCH THE STROBE LIGHTS FOR AT LEAST 5 MINUTES AFTER OPERATION. THE STROBE LIGHT WILL STILL BE HOT.
WARNING:
WEAR GLASSES AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHING WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE LIGHT. THE LAMP IS PRESSURIZED AND AN EXPLOSION CAN OCCUR.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) In the cockpit, on panel 25VU:

- Make sure that the STROBE switch is in the OFF position.
- Make sure that the NAV & LOGO switch is in the OFF position.
- Make sure that the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch is in the OFF position.
- Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to operate the navigation lights or the strobe lights.
- Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to operate the APU.
B. Open, safety and tag this(these) circuit breaker(s):

C. Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position at the APU tail-cone-exhaust area.

A. Removal of the Rear Navigation and Strobe Light Assembly
(2) Remove the screws (1) and washers (2).
(3) Remove the rear navigation and strobe light assembly (3) from the APU exhaust access-fairing (4).
(4) Disconnect the electrical connectors (5) and (6) from the rear navigation and strobe light-assembly (3).
(5) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
WARNING:
DO NOT REMOVE THE STROBE LIGHT FOR AT LEAST TEN MINUTES AFTER YOU DE-ENERGIZE THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS. THE HIGH VOLTAGE ELECTRICAL CURRENT IN THE CAPACITOR OF THE STROBE LIGHT IS DANGEROUS.
(1) Hold the rear navigation and strobe light assembly (3). (2) Remove the screws (1) and washers (2).
(3) Remove the rear navigation and strobe light assembly (3) from the APU exhaust access-fairing (4).
(4) Disconnect the electrical connectors (5) and (6) from the rear navigation and strobe light-assembly (3).
(5) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
